Harem Streamer System: Every Crime I Broadcast Wins Me a Superheroine-Chapter 195: Uncomfortable Situations
Scott sat slumped on the throne, his elbow resting heavily on the armrest, fingers digging into his temple as though trying to massage away the incoming storm of drama.
His face wore THAT look — somewhere between "kill me now" and "maybe I'll just disappear quietly into the void."
He hadn't even been breathing for more than a minute, but the weight of everyone's expectations was already pressing on his shoulders like a mountain made of overly affectionate women.
Brigid was the first to notice.
With a tiny gasp, she dove down from her hovering position in the air and crash-landed dramatically on the platform in front of Scott's throne. Her body hit the floor with all the grace of a peasant girl who just realized she insulted the emperor's favorite side-chick.
She slammed her head down, her arms in full "grovel mode" as she cried out—
"I'm really, really, REALLY sorry, Lord Nightwatch!" ƒгeewёbnovel.com
Her voice was desperate.
"I-, I uh… I was only trying to make sure you got the harem you deserve!"
The silence that followed her scream was long.
Uncomfortable. Borderline comedic.
Brigid blinked.
Now that she'd said it out loud…
"… I sound dumb, don't I?"
She mumbled into the floor.
Scott just stared at her—expression completely blank.
His face didn't twitch, not even once.
It wasn't stoic either. It was tired.
Somewhat like the face of a middle-aged man who'd survived fifteen emotional rollercoasters in under an hour and knew he had fifteen more lined up.
Brigid peeked up with big innocent eyes, lifting her head slightly like a cat poking out of a box. The movement was so unintentionally cute that Scott quickly looked away like she had flashed him her panties.
"Lord Nightwatch…?" she asked in a small voice.
Scott sighed, one hand brushing his face.
"Brigid… l-, look. There's no such thing as a harem in the 21st century."
His voice was low and slow, as though explaining to a child why Santa isn't real.
"Any man who even thinks of that nowadays gets attacked by the media like he just committed war crimes… which well, when it comes to women, yeah…"
He paused.
"Unless…"
He paused again.
His eyes narrowed at the air like it offended him.
"… they're super popular…"
Brigid's ears perked up.
"B-, But you're super popular!"
Scott immediately waved his hands.
"That's not the point!"
"Hm?"
Brigid tilted her head with an adorably innocent face. She was still on the ground like a flattened villager paying taxes in the worst way possible.
Scott groaned internally, shut his eyes, prayed for a second and cleared his throat.
He honestly thought the only time Brigid would ever make him uncomfortable was when she tried to sneak into his bed with some excuse about "nightmares" only to try and shove a suspiciously realistic dildo where the sun doesn't shine.
He sighed aloud.
Brigid noticed immediately.
She crawled forward like a shy kitten and softly asked,
"Uhm… is something wrong… Lord Nightwatch?"
Her face turned red—but it wasn't that red.
Not the thirsty one. It was guilt. Shame.
Brigid scratching her cheek with her index finger, eyes darting side to side, was almost surreal.
"Uhm… are you… angry with me?"
The moment the words left her lips, her face sank. Her head lowered like a deflated balloon. It was so pitiful it made Scott want to sigh again. If he wasn't nailed to that throne by Lumin's, he would've come down to pat her head and tell her she didn't screw up that bad.
Instead, he gave her a soft, tired smile.
"No, I'm not mad. It's just…"
Brigid kept still, listening carefully.
"… It's just that you're giving me so much more work than I already have."
He chuckled weakly.
"I'm not saying I believe in that whole 'a hero walks a lonely path' stuff… but the more I live it, the more I understand why people say it. The more people I let close, the messier it all becomes. I've already failed — failed as Nightwatch… and as Scott McQueen. And right now, I don't even know how to fix either of those."
Brigid's eyes softened as her guilt dug deeper.
"I kept wearing different masks, thinking they'd help me stay sane. But that's stupid. I can't keep running away every time it gets hard. And yet… I do. I always do."
His head bowed.
"God, I'm tired…"
He closed his eyes.
"… what else can I do?"
He whispered.
"This isn't really the time for women. It's not the time for a harem. It's not the time for… any of that. Every new woman I meet, it ends up in some weird romantic mess I didn't ask for. I don't want it. I don't like it. But I know I can't run from it either."
An internal sigh followed.
『It's friggin' called the Harem Streamer System…』
He looked toward the crowd of women waiting their turn — some glaring, some hopeful, some… tweeting.
His gaze landed on Nadia.
Then shifted to Emma on the opposite side.
And finally back to Brigid.
"Too many people are going to get hurt because of my immaturity. Because I wasn't ready. And when that happens… I'll have no one to blame but myself."
Silence. Dead. Still.
Brigid didn't move.
Her eyes were empty now. Her fingers curled slightly.
She thought to herself… She really did mess up.
She thought he'd love it.
The harem. The effort. The fantasy.
But she did it because — deep down — she wanted to see if she had a chance.
If she could compete with Emma.
With Gwen.
『Hnnn… even with Miss Nadia…』
She promised she'd never use her power to read his mind… but right now, she was desperate to know what his heart felt like. If it was still closed to her.
If she was just… wasting her time.
Her cheeks puffed up.
… Hmph!
Her pout was deep.
A little red.
Like a girl trying to stop herself from crying and yelling at the same time.
Scott noticed.
He leaned forward slightly.
"A-, Are you okay? I swear I'm not mad. I'm just—"
"ALRIGHT!!"
Brigid suddenly jumped to her feet, face serious and voice burning with resolve.
She clenched her tiny fist and beamed intensely.
"I'M GONNA FIX THIS! I PROMISE I'LL MAKE LORD NIGHTWATCH HAPPY AGAIN!"
And before Scott could respond—
FWOOSH!
She zipped up into the sky like a manic pixie hurricane as she disappeared from sight.
"… What just happened?"
Scott muttered, blinking slowly.
He leaned back, sighing as he rubbed his face.
"I poured out my soul and she… didn't even realize it…"
Heh. Then again…
"She's still pretty much learning what it means to be a hero. And so am I."
He smiled faintly.
"So I guess… it's okay if we learn it together."
Just as he allowed himself a breath of peace—
"SCOOOOOTTTT!!!"
The screech was so violently high-pitched that birds could fall from the sky. The women in the area winced, some covered their ears, and one of them even looked ready to throw up.
Scott sat frozen on the throne like an old man who just went through a HARMFUL prank.
Every woman waiting on the bridge turned away like she didn't know him.
All except for Rope Girl, Witch, Deathmark, and Sniperess — who all looked like this wasn't their problem. Judy Cho was typing furiously on her phone, probably drafting the next big article, like—
[Secret Intergalactic Harem? Feminists React.]
Scott swallowed.
Then he saw her. Purple-eyed. Calm-looking. Pulsar.
She was staring at him.
"Please…"
Scott whispered to the heavens.
"Give me a break."
Pulsar looked left. Then right.
Her PR team was nowhere in sight—of course, they weren't exactly space-certified.
Then she looked back at him.
Shrugged awkwardly.
Scott blinked.
A glimmer of hope sparked in his chest.
She raised her fists.
"FIGHTING!" she cheered with a wide grin.
Scott's hope died instantly.
He slumped in the throne again.
His eyes were half-lidded… probably dead, too.
He didn't even have the energy to be disappointed anymore.
"What am I gonna d—"
"SCOOOOOOOTTT!!!"
Another screech.
This time, he just smiled — a resigned, awkward twitchy smile — as he turned his head.
There she was.
Miss Mercury.
Hair bouncing, eyes burning with rage.
She was panting heavily, cheeks red.
But not the after-bed kind.
No, this was the you're-about-to-die kind.
Scott tried not to die on the spot.
"Y-, Yes… honey?" he offered weakly.
If she could march toward him, she would!
Mercury folded her arms so tightly her breasts looked like it wanted to explode from rage.
"Any… problems?"
He asked, voice higher than usual, twitching like a leaf in a hurricane.
Miss Mercury said nothing.
Scott sighed.
Nadia's hand trembled slightly as she clutched her chest.
Her eyes flew over to Emma — Miss Mercury — and the storm that loomed in her expression.
It was terrifying. No… heartbreaking.
A look that spoke volumes more than rage ever could.
Nadia lowered her eyes, chest tight and breath shallow.
Oh no…
She bit her lip.
She thought that distancing herself from Scott would help.
That putting a little space between them would make things easier—for everyone. But here they were, dragged into this cosmic circus where privacy and boundaries were nothing but punchlines. She wasn't sure if she could even call this square one anymore.
After all, she couldn't shake the fear…
Emma might never forgive her for this.
She clutched her chest harder, exhaling heavily.
『Damn it…』
Her eyes stung, but she blinked it away.
No tears. Not here. Not now.
Meanwhile, perched on the edge of a floating asteroid-like camera drone, Luminyss was absolutely having the time of her immortal life.
"Ooooh, this is so juicy!"
She whispered to herself with a wide grin, kicking her legs like a giddy schoolgirl watching a soap opera.
"Kek~ if I wasn't sealed for so damn long, I would've hijacked this planet ages ago! Drama. Angst. Betrayal. It turns me on so good~ ❤️ This is peak entertainment!"
She giggled loud and hard, but not a soul heard her.
Because all eyes were glued on the silent tension crackling between Scott and Emma.
Miss Mercury took a slow step forward.
Her voice, though soft, cracked the silence like thunder.
"I've had a really crappy week…"
Her words were strained, like they were pulled through broken glass.
"… and that's all thanks to you."
Scott didn't blink.
He just stared down at her from his throne.
His posture was stiff, face blank.
Emma pressed on in her low and hurt voice.
"I've been trying to tell you about your si… well, about something, but you kept pushing me away."
Her eyes softened, and with it, so did her face.
Her usual fiery eyes dulled, like a flame exhausted by too much wind.
"I've been worried since the funeral… and I thought…"
She looked toward Nadia.
Nadia turned her head away, slow, as if it pained her to even breathe in that moment.
Emma gave a light chuckle… zero warmth.
"For some reason, I feel like you would've rather talked to her than to me. And I'm not trying to be clingy or jealous or insecure… no, nothing like that… but after everything I've been through…"
She trailed off.
"… I just thought maybe… I earned the right to be."
Her eyes found his again.
"Yunno?"
Scott lowered his head slowly, like the weight of her words had just broken something loose in his chest.
He didn't know what to say. He was silent.
Everyone braced for another emotional nuke to drop—but then…
"… But we can sort this out when we get back to Earth."
Emma said with a casual shrug.
And everyone went, "… Huh?"
Scott leaned forward in his throne like a startled meerkat.
"Wait… really?"
Even Nadia, still drowning in guilt, mumbled, "Eh?"
Miss Mercury smiled gently at the two of them.
"I've never really been a fan of fighting with people I like in public. Maybe it's from watching my parents argue all the time. Just… bad memories, I guess."
She gave a little laugh and tilted her head.
"So, yeah. Let's not do this here, okay? I'd rather we talk when we're calm… and alone. Right?"
Scott and Nadia were both flabbergasted.
"Ri-, right…"
They mumbled, completely thrown off.
Miss Mercury turned away slowly, her back to them now.
Her arms were still folded, maybe tighter.
No one could see her face. No one could read her.
"Look, I honestly don't want to believe you'd hurt me on purpose, Scott…"
She spoke very quietly.
"I really want to believe this whole mess is some sort of big misunderstanding. So I'm hoping there's a story I don't know yet."
Silence.
And then…
Every single female contestant turned their heads in perfect sync and stared at Scott like he just personally insulted each and every one of their mothers. Their collective glare hit harder than a cannonball to the gut.
Scott swallowed hard, sinking into his throne like he wanted to melt through it.
"… Why are they all looking at me like that?"
Rope Girl stared at him with a bland expression.
"You're a horrible dick."
There was a smug look on Witch's face.
"Gotta agree. Certified dickhead behavior."
Sniperess and Deathmark just nod in cool unison
Vixen raised a brow and said flatly—
"Yep. Total dick move… Not surprised though. This is Scott McQueen we're talking about. The guy who'll take you on what's supposed to be a romantic patrol and then flirt with any female that isn't you… right in front of you."
Foxgirl gasped a little. "Wait, he does that?"
Vixen sighed.
"Unfortunately. You'd think he's a perfect ten, and then he opens his mouth…"
Scott snapped, "HEY!"
Lady Fortress, who had been quiet, gasped and covered her mouth.
Her cheeks were pink.
"Oh my… I didn't think Mael could be so shameless… I mean, he's already seen my naked body twice! What if he doesn't take responsibility?! Eeeeeep!"
Scott slammed a fist on his armrest.
"Wh-, What the hell are you saying?! Of course I'll ta—!"
He paused, eyes sliding to the side where Mercury stood.
She was still silent.
"Fuck… I'm horrible, aren't I?" Scott mumbled.
As if the alien crowd was waiting for him to accept it, they all BURST into a storm of boos and roasts.
"BOOOOOO!! DOWN WITH THE CONTESTANT!!"
"THIS is really one of Earth's 'chosen'? They should've sent a rock instead!"
"Greedy bastard's hogging all the terran babes!!"
"Could've dropped 'em off at Zormus XI, have 'em messing with a real gee! NO PAUSE!"
Scott slapped a hand over his face.
"Great… now I'm getting roasted by aliens."
In all the loudness, Gwen was quiet.
Her blue eyes were locked onto Miss Mercury.
She watched the way she stood, how her body tensed, how she didn't scream or cry or lash out.
『Wow… she really didn't want to make a scene. She's holding it all in…』
There was something admirable about that.
Gwen's heart panged a bit.
"If this happened to me… I don't think I could be that composed…"
She clenched her fist by her side.
