Chapter 636 – Old Cats With Pride Issues

The breakfast lounge still buzzed with that weird, heady mix of casual luxury and post-orgy financial triumph. Sunshine filtered through mana-tinted windows, making their hair glow, their skin gleam, and their expressions all the more smug and satisfied.

Lux leaned back in his chair, tea in hand, watching his girls with that pleased, lazy smirk.

Rava let her fingers swirl idly around the rim of her teacup. Her tentacle gently coiled around her wrist, lazy and half-awake.

"Good thing you are not our opponents," she murmured. Her voice was casual. But there was a subtle glint in her eyes when she spoke.

Lux leaned toward her with an exaggerated pout. "Nooo, don’t do that. I’ll be heartbroken."

"Oh?" Rava raised a brow. "And what would a heartbroken greed demon look like?"

"Tragic," Lux said dramatically. "Utterly tragic. Shirts buttoned all the way up. No seduction. Crying into financial reports. Probably investing in safe stocks like a retired bureaucrat."

The whole table burst out laughing.

"I can’t even imagine it," Naomi said between sips of her dark roast. "Your aura would physically rebel."

"It has," Lux said with faux seriousness. "One time I tried to play it safe with Hell’s money. Like... actually safe. Conservative portfolio, low risk, boring returns. Just because I was tired."

He shook his head slowly. "My greed instinct screamed. The system glitched. Reality itself looked offended."

He pointed at his chest. "Never again."

"Shame," Mira said, smirking. "But... I kinda want to see you buttoned up. Then unbutton you. Slowly. In front of a live market audience."

"Only if I get to do the same to you first," Lux purred.

Sira rolled her eyes but smirked anyway. "Ugh, stop flirting or I’ll have to drag you to bed again."

"You say that like it’s a threat," Lux replied.

Sira leaned forward, voice dropping suggestively. "I would f*ck you all day long if I could."

Naomi choked on her tea.

Ely blinked, half-laughing.

"But..." Sira huffed, straightening again. "I can’t. My father called me. I’ve got a meeting."

Lux tilted his head. "Celebration?"

"Stocks are going up," she said, then clicked her tongue. "Including Pride’s. So of course he wants to use this high to settle something in the Wild Pride territories. You know, some of those warlord guild chiefs who don’t worship the ground he walks on."

"Old cats with pride issues," Lux muttered. "I get it."

"He wants me to come along," Sira added, brushing a finger through her hair. "Make an impression. You know. Be the sharp daughter. The future."

"You are the sharp daughter," Lux said. "But I’ll miss you."

She gave him a smirk. "You’ll survive. Try not to sexually destabilize anyone while I’m gone."

"No promises."

"What about you guys?" Lux turned to the others, hopeful. "Anyone staying?"

The groans said it all.

Naomi raised her hand. "After pampering you for a week, we now have to actually go back to managing our businesses."

"Filing. Reports. Scheduling," Ely added with a resigned sigh. "You know. Work."

Mira gave him a pointed look. "You literally railed us like two days ago. Lux, we couldn’t even walk straight for hours." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂

"We needed all day before we could get back on our feet," Rava said calmly.

Lux put on his best pitiful expression. Big eyes. Soft pout. Horns tilted just slightly for added drama. "What about sex?"

Mira snorted. "Seriously?"

Naomi snickered. "Lux. You almost broke Mira."

"I did not—" Mira started, then stopped. Her face was red. "Okay maybe a little."

Rava rolled her eyes. "A lot."

"Oops," Lux muttered, smirking behind his teacup.

He let them laugh again, the lightness of it all warming him more than the tea.

"So..." he said eventually, "I guess I’ll just settle my things too. Might be time to move a few pieces again."

Naomi perked up. "Speaking of... things"

Lux arched a brow.

Naomi rested her elbow on the table, swirling her spoon around her cup. "I forgot to mention. My assistant told me something weird."

Lux sipped his tea.

She continued, "Apparently, there’s a new billionaire floating around the parties. Buying out tables. Showing up to galas. Super exclusive events. Said he’s got serious backing."

Lux made a soft noise in his throat. Noncommittal.

Naomi looked right at him. "He said his name is Lux Vaelthorn."

He nearly choked on his tea.

The entire table stilled.

Naomi arched a brow. "Is he one of your doubles?"

Lux cleared his throat. "No. I already dismissed them."

"Like... all of them?" Ely asked.

"Yes."

"Then..." Naomi tilted her head. "Who is this Lux Vaelthorn with a six-pack, gold credit aura, and a yacht party invite list?"

Lux exhaled through his nose. "I don’t know. But now I’m irritated."

"You should be," Mira muttered. "That’s your name. Your brand. Your sex appeal."

Sira scowled. "Some pretender’s using your identity?"

"Oh," Lux said softly, smiling with way too much teeth. "Not for long."

[Unauthorized identity use detected in mortal realm]

[Suggested action – Dominate, bankrupt, or erase]

"System," Lux said, still staring at his tea, "track the imposter. Give me his location, his accounts, and his biggest asset."

[Tracing now.]

Naomi leaned forward, eyes glinting. "You’re not gonna kill him, are you?"

Lux looked up. His smile was so polite it was terrifying.

"No," he said sweetly. "I’m going to ruin his net worth so thoroughly that even his past lives go into debt."

Mira whispered, "Hot."

Ely mumbled, "Terrifying."

Sira rolled her eyes. "Do it after we leave. Or at least record it."

Rava took another sip. "You really are the worst thing to ever happen to competition."

"Thank you," Lux said proudly.

Naomi sighed, lips twitching. "I’m so telling my assistant not to talk to anyone named Lux ever again."

The girls got up one by one. Stretching. Kissing his cheek. Grabbing tablets. Tapping portals.

He stayed seated.

Let them go.

This morning? Was a victory.

But the day?

The day was just getting started.

Lux tilted his head.

"Oh, darling..." he whispered.

"You’re about to learn what real Greed looks like."
