Aster was nothing short of grateful when Stahl finally closed the door behind her, leaving just the two alone at last.
The day had taken its toll on the weary young man, and the night had brought little more solace to him. He discovered he was a king to the dead... He was apparently going to have to fight the actual legendary beasts from the story he used to like... He was almost murdered by a bear, and he wasn’t even sure if he was angry at the beast about it... He was angry at his father, though.
Aster wasn’t so naïve to ever believe his father didn’t have the blood of his own people on his hands, but to hear something so cruel firsthand from one such victim? It made him unreasonably angry towards the panther that had raised him as his own.
The same panther he so desperately needed to know was still alright, even despite being the cause of all of the overwhelming heartache and frustration the bear had turned loose upon him.
To put it very lightly, Aster was more confused and angry than he had ever felt in his entire, inexperienced life. Nothing felt right at that moment. Nothing felt real... Nothing, except for his she-wolf.
Stahl softly walked up behind Aster, knowing he was trapped within the storm of chaos that was brewing inside of his mind. Aster was easy for her to read, and what she was reading from him in that moment was unfiltered turmoil.
She gently extended her right hand, carefully brushing against the human’s bicep with the backside of her fingers as she spoke down tenderly to him.
"What do you need, Aster?"
Aster snapped to face Stahl quickly. His jaw was clenched tightly, and his eyes seemed a little more round around the edges than usual. His brow furrowed in on itself as he looked up to meet the she-wolf’s compassionate gaze.
Aster was clutching his fists, visibly trembling under the weight of his chaotic thoughts. He finally spoke, despite the lingering fear that he would break completely if he had.
"Stahl... I think I need everything you have to give me this time. I... I can’t fight this one alone. Just this once, I’ll let you save me how I need you to... Please..."
Aster closed his eyes as he finished his plea for help, tears welling forth from them faster than he could ever hope to subdue. They rolled over his cheeks, staining the flesh with reflective streaks of the silvery moonlight shining in from the open window before they fell into the darkness with a flicker.
Was it Softness? No, that word felt inadequate. What Stahl recognized in Aster wasn’t weakness, exactly, but rather the terrible tenderness of someone who had learned too young that the world could turn its back without warning.
She had seen it many times before, in the eyes of cubs whose mothers never returned from the hunt, in the way they moved through the pack—always at the edges, always ready to run.
The she-wolf had known Aster’s gentleness long enough to understand its source. Isolation carved softness into some people the way water carved stone, not through kindness, but through the patient work of pain.
She didn’t fault him for it. How could she blame a man for becoming tender when tenderness was all that remained after everything else had been stripped away?
King Alocer’s wrath had made him an orphan, but that was only the wound. The scar was what Aster had chosen to become afterward: someone who absorbed others’ cruelty without striking back, who bent rather than breaking because breaking meant there would be nothing left at all.
So yes, he seemed pathetic sometimes, seemed like a child in a man’s body, but could he really be blamed for it?
Alienation, the stranger-wound, soul-exile. Some call it xenocide of the heart, as if giving it clinical weight might somehow contain its damage. But naming a condition doesn’t cure it, and this particular malignancy had its own inexorable way of hollowing out everything that made a person whole.
Stahl didn’t make Aster ask twice.
She quickly took him into her arms, wrapping them tightly around his frame as she pulled Aster into her bosom. Her left hand came up to hold Aster’s head against her own heart, relishing the feeling it brought to her just as before. Somehow, she felt even closer this time, even with the clothes still between them.
Stahl firmly pressed her muzzle into the nook of her wounded Aster’s neck, her wet nose tenderly pushed against the flesh, coaxing a flutter of goosebumps to dance across the skin as Aster could only struggle to breathe in the smell of her calming scent.
She lightly lapped at Aster’s exposed skin, just once, before she lovingly nipped at him with grazing teeth, making Aster jump ever so slightly as a result.
Aster looked up to find the she-wolf gazing down at him in a way nobody had ever looked at him before, with a pure, raw, and unmistakable longing to be there with him. With an undeterrable need to protect and support him through his moment of such weakness. With an unrefusable offer of shelter from the storm of heavy emotion that threatened to capsize his very heart.
Aster found himself wanting to cry for entirely different reasons in that moment, but opted instead to close his heavy eyes, and tilt his head back just a bit further into her grasp, practically begging Stahl to taste his lips once more... To distract him in the way he needed distracting. And she needed no further invitation.
As Stahl’s muzzle greedily pressed into the pinkish lips, her emotions exploded, sending sparks of fluttering stars sweeping through her very core like never before.
She kissed him hungrily, desperate to taste even more of him. She pressed her maw harder against the grip she had on the backside of Aster’s head, parting the human’s jaw easily as her larger tongue darted into Aster’s mouth, exploring its newly conquered territory with both a lustful, and vigorous need, as well as dominating demand.
Aster shuddered into the sensation, relishing the emotions her limber muscle was forcing out of him. Savoring the feeling of yielding to the devout persistence of this wolf gone mad in her carnal hunger.
Aster tried to use his own tongue to return the affections, but Starl was simply too domineering in the kiss, and pushed aside his efforts with ease, never releasing the consuming control she had over their interlocked state. Aster was happy to be her victim for the moment. All other thoughts shoved firmly aside by the ravishing, sudden treatment.
Stahl was becoming absolutely enthralled by her lust in the kiss. She dropped her right hand lower down the Aster’s back, slipping it under the flimsy shirt with ease. She pressed her padded palm, calloused from years of hard work and swordplay, gently against the small of his back. The ashen wolf meticulously brought her claws to rest against the bared flesh of the trembling young man, which she held complete control over in that moment, thinking such primal thoughts.
She could push this. This is how she could coax him into claiming her if she wanted... Stahl could make the inexperienced Aster take her however he so desired in that moment, as rough as Aster chose to... Aster would give in to it... give in to his urges. She just knew he would...
And once that happened, she would submit to him however the human commanded her to. She could probably even get him to give her his knot if she was fast enough... But that wasn’t how it should be... That wasn’t how she wanted it to be for Aster. That was just that primal beast lurking inside of herself talking.
Stahl wanted Aster to never regret giving her that control nor that privilege. To never look back in remorse for trusting her with such an important task. She wanted to make him feel better than he ever could’ve imagined possible and let him know that he was returning that favor to her, just by letting her be his first. Stahl’s own darker needs could wait. This time was for her human. This was for her mate.
