Harem God- Dimensional Motel System-Chapter 76: Interactions With The Night Part 35
Chapter 76: Interactions With The Night Part 35
All four were frozen in place.
What used to be a wide doorway now felt narrowed, blocked by a towering zombie whose head nearly scraped the ceiling.
Its body was swollen with muscle that looked like it was shaped from thick, wet cement.
Chains strapped around its torso and limbs, some fused to the rotting flesh, others dragging a train of broken bank furniture behind it.
As the creature stared at them with it’s crimson eyes, a heavy dread settled in the pit of Dima’s stomach.
Then it moved. It’s chain swung in a wide arc, smashing into the floor and hurling debris straight at them.
"Get down!" Peter shouted as he dove to the side, pulling Geo along with him.
Dima followed suit, rolling behind the nearest piece of cover—a toppled bank counter.
Herman, though, tripped. The chain struck a table, bounced off, and smacked him across the chest.
thud!
He crashed to the ground and let out a pained grunt. But it wasn’t enough to keep him down.
Determined, he pushed himself up to one knee and fired his crossbow.
The bolt struck the head, but it only left a dent in the creature’s face.
Dima and the rest also tried to fight it off, thrusting their spears at its joints.
To their surprise, the impact sent a deep vibration through the shafts, and the wooden bases of the spears snapped apart.
"Hmph." The creature scoffed, finding their effort amusing.
It swung its chain again, forcing everyone to duck.
When anyone tried to run for the exit, it swung in that direction, blocking the path but never striking to kill.
"We’re being toyed with. It’s playing with us—don’t move!" Herman said through a pained grunt.
And just like that, the creature stopped moving too. It waited, watching them.
"We can’t stay here," Dima hissed, wiping sweat from his brow. "If we all rush the exit together, it can’t block everyone."
Herman shook his head, grimacing. "It’s waiting for that. You saw how it moves."
"We don’t have a choice. Either we run together, or we just sit here and wait to die."
For a moment, no one spoke. The large zombie stood motionless.
Then Dima counted under his breath. "Three...two...one—now!"
They burst from cover in a desperate sprint for the doorway. They were moving as one.
Maybe they could make it—
A loud clank cut through the air.
The zombie’s arms snapped wide, each hand gripping a heavy chain. With a big motion, it slammed both chains down in front of the exit, crossing them like iron gates.
Everyone skidded to a stop. The chains had blocked the way perfectly.
clank!
clank!
clank!
Another series of heavy sounds echoed across the floor. This time, they came from behind .
"A...Another one..." Dima gasped.
It was over for them. All hope was gone, and the only thing left was to wait for death.
Seeing their hopeless faces, the first zombie got bored and raised its hand. It swung the chains, targeting Dima first.
The poor guy could only close his eyes.
BOOOOM!
An explosion of blood and torn flesh shook the room.
When Dima opened his eyes, he saw the zombie’s headless body on the ground, its torso also blown apart.
Standing on top of the corpse was a figure in a black robe that hid most of the face.
"B...Boss?" he breathed out.
Before he could get a response, the figure dashed forward.
The second zombie swung its chain to crush him, but he slipped past the attack with ease.
As the chain hit the floor, he lunged in and, with one punch, smashed straight through the zombie’s body.
One punch. That was all it took.
After a while, the place grew quiet.
The robed figure pulled back his hood, revealing a man with black hair tied in a ponytail like a samurai.
His small monolid eyes and the scar across his cheek made him look even more aloof.
He wasn’t their big boss, but his power felt just as strong—maybe stronger.
"Thank you for helping us." Dima was the first to step forward, and the others followed behind him.
The man only nodded and turned to leave. He didn’t look interested in staying to talk with them.
As for the four, they didn’t try to follow. They were too afraid of bothering their savior.
"That man is like the boss... I wonder if he’s from that special unit too." Dima commented.
"I don’t think so." Herman shook his head while Geo helped him stand.
"This area isn’t far from the base, so he would’ve shown up sooner if that were true."
A glance passed between them, and none could argue with the logic
Even though he looked rough, he was the most observant and clear-headed among them. freёnovelkiss.com
This was especially true back when he could still fire his crossbow and managed to figure out the creature’s pattern, despite the injuries.
"Let’s get out of here. We need to report to the boss about what happened." Dima turned around.
"No, we need to grab the jewelries and golds first. Did you forget the boss’s orders?" Herman groaned.
"But you’re injured." Peter added.
"Don’t worry about me. I can handle this much. Just go and grab everything in the vault. Don’t waste this chance."
Geo helped him to a counter to rest.
The vault was mostly destroyed, with gold bars scattered across the floor.
They crouched among the rubble, gathering the scattered gold bars by hand.
Peter looked at the growing pile and shook his head.
"Hold on,"
He jogged out across the street to a small department store and came back with two shopping carts to help carry the load.
They even used another cart to push Herman along with them, as they headed back to the base.
When they got there, their so called big boss was sitting in his beach chair, drinking a can of beer while Kana and Samantha sorted through the jewelry and supplies.
Compared to the robed figure , Luck looked easy going when not fighting.
Having a leader like him didn’t feel so bad.
"Oh, you four are late," Luck stood up.
He raised an eyebrow when he saw all the gold and cash.
"So what happened? I see you brought a lot, so kudos to the four of you. But Herman looks like he’s in bad shape."
Dima stepped forward, rubbing the back of his neck.
"We were trying to get inside a bank vault when two huge zombies with chains showed up, about ten feet tall. Bigger than any we’ve seen. One of them nearly crushed Herman."
Luck’s smile faded. "And you all made it out alive?"
"We tried fighting them, but nothing worked. Then a man in a black robe showed up. He took them out with one punch. It was like his fist was a grenade launcher."
Kana stopped sorting and looked up. "A man?"
"Yeah," Dima went on. "Black robe, ponytail, scar across his face. He didn’t say much. Just...killed them and left."
"Boss, we need to talk. Now," Kana blurted, tugging his arm and dragging him inside.
Luck frowned, noticing the tremor in her grip. "Why are you sweating?"
She swallowed hard. "Dima’s team...From their description, it sounds like they met a top 3 ranker."
His eyes widened, and the beer can nearly slipped from his hand.
"Rank three or higher? You’re serious?" He set the can down.
Confident as he was about taking on one or two rankers alone, facing the whole group would be suicide.
Especially after hearing that a single punch from one looked like a grenade launcher.
Dima and the rest were already used to seeing him in action, so whatever they witnessed had to be pretty epic for them to talk about it like that.
"All right, I need to talk to the others first so I can get a better idea." He turned to leave, but she grabbed his arm.
"Don’t leave. Did you forget? They have someone who can snipe you from a very long distance."
"I’ll be fine." He patted her head to calm her down.
She still didn’t let go, her hands trembling.
"Kana, listen to me. Do you really think I’d let them beat me? Besides, we don’t even know if they’re here for trouble. One of them even saved our guys."
"Never trust them!" Her gaze hardened, thin as a blade. "They’re cold-blooded killers, trained from a young age. I’m only an exception because of my background."
He let out a long sigh and raised both hands in surrender.
"All right, all right. I hear you. I’ll be careful. But we can’t hide forever."
Finally, she let go.
Outside, they headed to a tent near the wall and started a meeting.
’Now I’m being too paranoid’ he thought, scratching his head as he pictured someone watching him through a scope, his head sitting there like an easy target.
"Let’s start. Tell me everything from the beginning. Don’t leave anything out."
They began telling the story again, while Herman stayed off to the side getting first aid.
The more he listened, the clearer the picture became. He started to understand why Kana was so afraid of them.
Whoever that man was, his ki was stronger than his. It had to be, to pull off a punch that explosive.
"Now you believe me?" Kana said, rolling her eyes.
"Yeah, but don’t worry. I already have a plan in mind. Just take all the valuable stuff back to the motel with Jun."
It was time to use his birth right advantage—the online store.
