Chapter 229: Solving problems.

Third person POV

After getting lost in the moment and in pleasure, the girls focused on talking about more important things.

As a new member of the harem, Lee Hua wanted to meet the other girls. Furthermore, she found out about the problems Liam was dealing with.

And she decided she would put an end to them.

To start, she decided she would handle Paul Mattau’s lawsuit. Seraphina had a perfect case against him, but Paul’s influence on the jury was too strong, making it impossible for him to be convicted.

Or that would have been the case if Lee Hua wasn’t there. After all, she had a network of contacts that extended through the highest echelons of society and into the darkest corners of the underworld. 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂

With an enigmatic smile, Lee Hua began to move her pieces. First, she made a series of calls. And thanks to this, she managed to reach Paul’s contacts in the judiciary.

The judges, previously reluctant to touch a name as powerful as Paul Mattau’s, suddenly changed their minds considerably.

Paul Mattau, used to manipulating the system, found himself cornered for the first time. His lawyers, previously confident, now looked pale and desperate. Evidence was accumulating, and public opinion was turning against him. Prison was imminent, and the thought of losing everything he had built—his fortune, his empire—was unbearable.

Until he received a call from an unknown number. It was Lee Hua, who wanted to give him an option to avoid prison.

As long as Paul was obedient and agreed to leave his entire inheritance to Sophia, Lee Hua would let him escape in peace.

Upon learning this, the man flew into a fit of rage, hatred burning through his veins as he screamed on the phone. But, the next day, he received a visit from the police, who had obtained permission to conduct an investigation at his house.

Not only that, but everyone close to him advised him to give up, and he understood the true weight of the person he was facing.

With no other option, he had to call that damned unknown number and beg for forgiveness. It was the only way to get out of it.

Paul felt completely humiliated. He, who had lived his entire life proudly, was forced to crawl on his knees for the first time.

Nevertheless, he finally ceded to all of Lee Hua’s demands, left his entire empire to Sophia, and disappeared off the map. He hoped to live the rest of his days on a paradise island, with the part of the fortune he had managed to keep.

However, fate would be crueler to him. The man would end up falling in love with a woman who was only interested in his money, and in less than a year, he would end up with nothing.

And speaking of women, his escape was a relief for Charlotte, who decided to return to her home, which was much more comfortable now that her husband would no longer be there.

She was ready to dedicate herself to the man who had saved her and changed her life completely.

Eric exploded in fury upon learning his father’s decision. He, who had always considered himself the natural successor to the Mattau empire, saw his sister win the competition in an inexplicable twist.

He simply couldn’t understand how this had happened. And he certainly wouldn’t accept his father’s decision. His screams of rage echoed through the mansion.

"What’s wrong, is there a problem?" Sophia opened her brother’s bedroom door and commented ironically.

"Who gave you permission to enter my room!" he replied in a harsh tone, his gaze full of hatred as he stared at his sister.

"Your room?" Sophia commented ironically. "This entire mansion is mine now, have you forgotten? You should thank me for letting you live here for the time being."

Eric clenched his fists upon hearing this; he couldn’t accept his sister belittling him that way. Still, he took a deep breath, regaining his calm. He knew he needed a better plan.

"I need to do something..." Eric murmured to himself after Sophia left.

First, he tried to use his influence and his contacts in the underworld to harm Sophia, but discovered, to his horror, that his hands were tied. Lee Hua’s network of contacts was much more influential than his. Any attempt by Eric to move a finger against Sophia was immediately neutralized, his plans undone even before they began.

Eric’s desperation deepened each day. He quickly saw his allies disappear, which was frustrating.

Seeing that the situation was truly bad, Eric decided to retreat temporarily; he would have to wait for a better opportunity to counter-attack.

However, Lee Hua wouldn’t give him that chance, because suddenly he saw his crimes begin to come to light. Small missteps, illicit transactions, blackmail, and even some acts of violence that should have long been buried came to light.

Lee Hua made it very clear that she wouldn’t stop until she had completely destroyed her beloved Liam’s enemies. Still, just as she had done with Paul, the woman called Eric with the intention of giving him an escape route.

Despite everything, as long as he was willing to obey her, Lee Hua could make good use of Eric. But he refused the offer.

"That foreign bitch! How dare she interfere?" he yelled right after hanging up the phone.

But the answer came the next day in the form of a search warrant. A bank account was canceled, and he found himself, just like his father, a completely cornered animal.

The certainty that he would soon be arrested consumed him, turning his rage into paralyzing fear. Therefore, he isolated himself in his mansion, wanting to pretend that nothing else existed.

Karen tried to talk to him a few times during this period; after all, the woman truly loved him. But the boy ignored her; he didn’t have the energy to deal with that useless woman.

But he still had one hope: his mother would return that week, and maybe she could help him in some way.

She was an easy woman to manipulate, and maybe Charlotte could convince Sophia.

But on that day, Eric received a video that would change everything.
