Harem app-Chapter 131: The monitoring room
Chapter 131: The monitoring room
Third person POV
Clara was once again awake at night, monitoring the house of a certain man. It was a risky and dangerous investigative job, but she was always willing to take it on.
After all, there was a truth about this city that she wanted to uncover.
Thinking about that, she remembered Liam and how, during their first encounter, he ended up interrupting her while she was trying to track one of her suspects.
At the time, she thought it had been a major stroke of bad luck. She didn’t show it in her expression, but inside she was devastated, believing that the case and the man had slipped right through her fingers.
That said, having an interview with the hero Liam turned out to be, at least, a great consolation prize.
Or that’s what she thought. Back then, she couldn’t have imagined that meeting him would bring her much closer to uncovering all the secrets she had always wanted to investigate.
And it was precisely because she needed to uncover the truth that she had been dedicating so much time to it. However, it was also for this reason that she hadn’t had time to speak with Liam in the past few days.
Besides, with Amber gone, her focus had been entirely on this. Especially now that she had enough money, thanks to her blog’s recent success, to fund all of her wildest ideas.
It was also because of this that she had recently gotten closer to a slightly suspicious group led by a paranoid guy named Max. They were a bit strange, but they were quite reliable and helpful. For example, it was Max who found the address of that house.
That said, she couldn’t help but feel a little lonely. Looking out at the cold night, she wondered what Liam was doing at that moment... Well, she probably knew he was having fun with one of the women from his harem, or maybe some random prostitute.

And yes, she knew about the harem. In fact, she had known for some time, since Lucia had told her.
As surprising as it may be, the two had actually become somewhat close when they had to work together during the events at the party.
And what did Clara think about the harem?
Clara had a pretty open mind, and some would even call her eccentric. So her first reaction was to find it impressive and interesting.
Beyond that, she wasn’t particularly the jealous type. After all, she spent most of her time obsessing over other things. It was precisely because of this that all her ex-boyfriends either cheated on her or broke up with her, claiming that she was always distant.
In this sense, she thought that sharing her man with other women might be more efficient and would allow for more freedom. Even before meeting Liam, she had already considered the idea of having a relationship where her boyfriend could be with other women, or a throuple, or something like that.
Of course, she never considered a harem, but it wasn’t too far off from what she thought was reasonable.
That said, up until that point, that idea had never gone anywhere. She had never found the right man, someone she could trust and who wouldn’t treat her like an easy slut after hearing about her relationship ideas.
Moreover, it would also need to be the right kind of women. She would hate for another woman to steal her man away.
In this sense, Clara still wanted to get to know the members of Liam’s harem better. She had basically only spoken to Lucia and Lila.
Not to mention, before joining them, she wanted time to go out on dates with the boy. After all, she enjoyed romance.
Taking all of this into account, and considering Liam seemed to have no limit to the size of his harem, she decided she would figure things out after finishing her investigation.
Her target had just taken out his trash in the dead of night, as he did every night, before retreating back inside and turning off the lights. He always slept late and was extremely methodical.
After waiting a while to ensure the coast was clear, the girl slipped on rubber gloves and a mask, then approached the garbage. Fighting back the stench, she began sifting through it.
It was a little disgusting, but this was an excellent way to uncover details about the person she was investigating. What people throw away reveals what they consume, what they do, and who they are.
For example, despite living in a small, seemingly poor house, he consistently threw away expensive products. Even stranger, for someone who never had visitors, the amount of food he ordered and discarded seemed suspiciously high, especially for someone as thin as he was.
Maybe this was because there was someone, or rather, multiple people, inside his house who were never allowed to leave.
But who were they?
Clara could only confirm her suspicions by breaking into the residence, but since the man never left, that would be far from easy.
So she would keep observing... or at least, that had been the plan.
An alarm suddenly blared from her phone, and her blood ran cold.
This wasn’t her everyday phone, it was a special one Lucia had given her.
Before leaving with Lila, the redhead had handed it to her, explaining that she’d embedded trackers in every girl in Liam’s harem, and this device would alert her if any of them were in serious danger.
Clara had found it bizarre, why were these trackers never removed? And how could they even determine if someone was in danger?
But she didn’t doubt Lucia. By now, she’d accepted, to some extent, the existence of magic. It was the only explanation for the many strange things that kept happening.
She checked the phone. The woman in danger was Helena, someone she didn’t know. More importantly, she was being taken to the industrial district, likely one of the abandoned warehouses there.
Without wasting another second, Clara abandoned her investigation and quickly dialed the number Lucia had provided for emergencies.
The call was answered after two rings.
"What happened?" Zoe’s voice came through.
Lucia had told her to call this woman in dire situations, assuring her Zoe would help. Clara trusted that. So she relayed the location and the little information she had.
Then she rushed out, grabbing her surveillance backpack, and sped through the dark streets, following the GPS to where Helena had been taken.
But she didn’t head straight for the warehouse. Instead, she surveyed the area, then positioned herself at a distance where she could observe without being seen.
Finally, hidden in the shadows, Clara pulled out her professional camera and activated the super zoom. Through the viewfinder, she could see, and record, what was happening inside the warehouse without anyone spotting her.
From this distance, she cursed under her breath, wondering if there was anything she could do to help.
Inside, Liam was sprawled on the ground, choking on the metallic taste of blood. His vision flickered, darkness creeping in at the edges, and he knew he didn’t have much time before he’d lose consciousness completely.
Jeff, on the other hand, limped toward him with a triumphant smile, each step accompanied by a groan of pain, but with no loss of cruel determination.
Then, a loud crash echoed through the place as a door from the warehouse was violently thrown through the air, cutting across the entire space.
Before Jeff could react, a shadow appeared from the side. He then felt a powerful kick hit his ribs, with a brutal impact.
He was sent flying sideways, skidding across the floor, letting out a scream of pain as he slammed into a concrete pillar. Coughing up blood, he tried to rise, but a sharp blade stopped just inches from his throat.
Zoe was there, her eyes glowing with a dangerous intensity, her chest rising and falling at a frantic pace. Her messy hair fell over her shoulders, and her expression was one of pure fury.
"Touch my man again, and your head and body won’t be connected anymore."
Jeff laughed, spitting blood as he attempted to rise. "And you think you can do something about it, little girl?" He tried to move.
However, Zoe was faster, landing a hard kick to his face, making him spit out teeth and blood.
Once again, Jeff crashed to the ground, feeling an intense pain course through his entire body. To make matters worse, his weakened leg prevented him from getting up and moving toward the woman, who approached with a terrifying gaze.
"You still haven’t learned your lesson, stay down!" Zoe said, noticing he was trying to get up. Then, she kicked his knee, making him fall to the ground again, screaming in pain.
For the first time in his long life, Jeff felt fear. But, for his misfortune, Zoe was just getting started.
