Chapter 129: Kidnapping

Third Person POV

Max was drinking coffee and having a late-night snack. Being accustomed to the darkness, he didn’t even bother turning on the light as he moved through the kitchen. That was when he heard a car approaching.

Ever since he started investigating the criminal organization behind what had happened to his sister, he had become completely paranoid. That’s why, just from hearing the sound of a car pulling up, he quickly placed his plate in the sink, erasing any evidence that someone had been there.

Then, he hid in the first cabinet he found.

And on that night, his paranoia ended up being rewarded. A black car stopped right in front of his house. Not only that, but he could hear the men breaking the security cameras around the property before silently entering his home.

Seeing this, Max quickly turned off his computer remotely using his phone. He also activated a secret night-vision camera he had bought and placed inside his room.

Next, he considered whether or not he should leave his hiding spot. However, the group consisted of four men, one remained downstairs as a lookout while the other three cautiously moved through the house.

On top of that, they were armed. Max knew he didn’t stand a chance against them. So, what could he do?

Meanwhile, the other three men climbed the stairs to the bedrooms, carefully checking the house as they went. They confirmed that the kids’ parents were out, as usual. And when they found everything turned off in Max’s room, they assumed he wasn’t home either.

Then, they silently made their way to Helena’s room. However, the moment one of the men opened the door, he was met with a powerful knee strike, knocking him out cold.

The impact forced him to stumble backward. Seizing the opening, Helena stepped forward and finished him off with a kick.

She wasted no time. Taking advantage of the surprise on the other two men’s faces, she launched herself at the second attacker with speed and precision.

Before he could even aim his weapon, she was already upon him.

Her elbow struck his jaw with brutal force, making his head snap to the side. He staggered back, dazed, but before he could recover, Helena spun around and delivered a high kick to his face, sending him crashing to the floor.

The third man, however, managed to react in time and swung his rifle like a club at the woman. He avoided firing for two reasons: first, he had been ordered to capture the girl alive, and second, in tight, enclosed spaces, wasting time aiming and shooting could be a hindrance.

His decision proved correct as he saw the girl’s pained expression. Getting hit by the butt of a gun like that was far from a pleasant experience.

Helena took a deep breath, focusing on the enemy before her. Once again, she tried to advance, but her first strikes were blocked. Her opponent clearly had some martial arts training, and on top of that, he was physically stronger.

With the element of surprise gone, the girl was now at a severe disadvantage in the fight.

Still, maybe she could still win...

"What the hell is going on here?" Another voice suddenly joined the fray. "How are you this incompetent? Can’t even capture one little girl?"

It was Jeff, the fourth member of their small gang. He had come up to the second floor to make sure his partners hadn’t screwed up.

Seeing the scene before him, he scoffed at his companion and calmly strode toward their target.

Unlike the other three, he wasn’t carrying any weapon. And his confident smile revealed the reason, he didn’t need one.

His body was a mountain of muscles ready to explode. Yet, despite his beastly size, he moved with terrifying speed, like a vicious predator.

Still, the girl tried to hold her fighting stance, quickly grabbing the first metal object she found in the house’s decor and hurling it at the monstrous man with all her strength.

But Jeff was like an unstoppable bear, he didn’t even flinch when hit, as if it hadn’t even happened.

Then he finally reached his opponent, who barely managed to dodge his first strike. And in the next instant, Helena took a punch straight to the gut, dropping to her knees.

Without effort, the man grabbed her by the arm and tossed her toward his partner, grumbling that this couldn’t even be called a fight.

"Tie her up properly," Jeff ordered, then hoisted the two unconscious men over his shoulders like sacks of potatoes.

Meanwhile, Max, hearing the brute’s heavy footsteps, quickly scrambled to hide behind a bush.

He had slipped out of his hiding spot and quickly made his way outside, heading straight for the intruders’ car. Without wasting a second, he placed his smartwatch inside the vehicle, ensuring he could track them later.

Luckily, he had enough time to hide in one of the bushes in his front yard. Since none of the kidnappers expected anyone else to be in the house, they didn’t notice him.

Max clenched his fists, his entire body trembling with fear, as he watched those men carry his sister away, bound and immobilized.

For a brief moment, he hesitated, considering whether he should launch a surprise attack. Maybe, just maybe, he could save his dear sister.

But then, he made the more rational decision to stay hidden. If he tried anything now, he would only end up defeated, or worse, killed, without being able to change a thing.

However, if he stayed out of sight, he could plan ahead and find a way to take them down.

As he watched the car disappear down the street, a painful tightness gripped his chest. It was agonizing to just sit there and do nothing, but he needed to focus on his next move. freёnovelkiss.com

Taking a deep breath, he checked his phone. As expected, the tracker on his smartwatch was working, giving him a clear idea of where the kidnappers were heading.

Now, all that was left was to call the police and...

Max hesitated. Could he really trust the police?

Suddenly, his memory provided a clue. He wasn’t sure, but the weapons those men carried looked official. On top of that, they clearly had at least some level of military training.

Thinking about all of this, both facts and his growing paranoia, Max decided he couldn’t take the risk.

And in this case, his instincts weren’t entirely wrong.

With no other options, he briefly considered going after the men himself, but that was obviously a suicide mission.

Then, he remembered there was still someone he could count on.

So, Max called his best friend.

After receiving the call from his best friend and hearing what had happened, Liam was consumed by overwhelming rage. He needed to save Helena. Now.

Without a second thought, he left Amelia behind and threw himself into the mission, his blood boiling once again. He wouldn’t let those bastards lay a single finger on his woman.

Max had already tracked the location where the kidnappers were taking Helena, and Liam decided to go alone. However, Lilith insisted on coming with him, and after some reluctance, he finally allowed it.

With no time to waste, he stole Marc’s Porsche and slammed the accelerator to the floor. The city slept, and the empty streets let him drive like a complete maniac. The engine roared like a furious beast, and every sharp turn closed the distance between him and his targets.

Five minutes after the kidnappers arrived at their destination, Liam was already there.

The location? A large abandoned warehouse, the typical rat’s nest where wannabe predators hid. But what truly made his rage explode were Helena’s screams echoing from inside.

Without hesitation, he accelerated even harder, abandoning any careful plan. The Porsche smashed into the warehouse’s aluminum door like a steel battering ram, bending the metal with a deafening crash. The car plowed forward, knocking everything in its path, only stopping when it brutally collided with something.

Or rather... someone.

The brute who had defeated Helena was hit full-force, his body crushed against a stack of crates. But Liam barely even noticed, because right in front of him was a far worse sight:

One of the kidnappers was on top of Helena, trying to tear her clothes off by force.

Liam saw red.

Without thinking, he lunged forward like a hurricane of fury, grabbing the bastard by the collar and hurling him against the wall with superhuman strength.

The man didn’t even have time to scream before a brutal barrage of punches rained down on him. Liam held nothing back, every strike was pure hatred, until the kidnapper went limp without another sound.

Meanwhile, Lilith dealt with the other two unconscious men, making sure they wouldn’t be moving anytime soon.

Liam turned to Helena, ready to pull her into his arms and make sure she was okay. But at that moment, he heard a boom that made the ground shake.

He spun toward the sound and saw something that made him doubt his own eyes.

The brute he had run over with the Porsche, the one who should have been dead or at least on the verge of it, was standing.

Not just standing, he had shoved the car aside like it was a plastic toy.

His body was bruised and scratched, but nothing that suggested he had just been hit by a ton of steel at high speed.

And to make it worse: he was smiling. A wide, animalistic, disturbing grin.

"Well, well. Looks like we’ve got ourselves a hero," he muttered, licking his lips with a sickening expression. His eyes gleamed with pure malice, and every step he took carried the promise of imminent violence.

"Gonna be a pleasure to crush you."
