Grinding EXP From Fireball Skill-Chapter 43: Gu Ze’s Dream
Li Wei returned to reality, opening his eyes to find it was already the next morning.
’So that’s it. The dream collapsed because Rota woke up.’
He reviewed the memories in his mind and found that Rota’s Cultivation experience hadn’t been lost.
Li Wei broke into a happy smile.
Then, his heart tightened as he remembered that the Great Dream Traveling Skill came from an Evil God Cultist.
’Damn it, I almost forgot about that.’
Li Wei’s expression flickered. He checked himself over and, finding everything normal, let out a sigh of relief.
He sat on the edge of the bed and contemplated. The temptation of the Great Dream Traveling Skill was too great. Even knowing he might have to pay a price, it was incredibly hard to give up.
’Sigh... There’s no such thing as a free lunch in this world...’
After leaving to get breakfast, Li Wei happened to run into Rota. Thinking about the dream, he asked tentatively, "Master Rota, I’ve run into some confusion while practicing the Small Fireball Technique. Could you help me with it?"
Rota glanced at Li Wei and said with a smile, "It’s perfectly normal for Mages to share their experiences with Cultivation. Tell me what your problem is, though I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to solve it."
Li Wei smiled. "Thank you in advance, Master Rota. It’s like this: I’ve discovered that the sixth Magic Circuit of the Small Fireball Technique’s Magic Model seems rather fragile. Every time I construct the Magic Model, my Mana tends to act up at the sixth circuit."
Rota raised an eyebrow. As it happened, he had researched this very problem.
In fact, Li Wei had deliberately asked because he knew Rota had researched this area.
He said, "The Small Fireball Technique’s Magic Model is a simplified version of the Fireball Skill’s Magic Model. The sixth circuit is the structure that connects to the seventh and eighth circuits in the Tier One Fireball Technique. The Small Fireball Technique omits the subsequent Magic Circuits to lower the Casting difficulty..."
Rota explained some theories of magical structure to Li Wei, who nodded continuously as he listened.
As Rota spoke, Li Wei steered the conversation toward developing new Magic from the Small Fireball Technique.
After explaining a series of principles, Rota said, "Limited by the maximum number of circuits for a Tier Zero Magic Model, it’s already very difficult to increase the power of the Small Fireball Technique."
"I recently discovered a new research direction that might be possible. Since we can’t increase the power of the Small Fireball Technique, we can try increasing the number of small fireballs."
"The Tier Two Spell, Chain Fireball Technique, is a classic example of increasing quantity to boost a spell’s power. I’m currently trying to combine the chain-casting circuit with the Small Fireball Technique, but unfortunately, I haven’t had a major breakthrough yet."
Rota sighed, a little dejected.
He said, "If my research is successful, I could make a Tier Zero Magic with power comparable to a Tier One Magic."
Li Wei said, "Master Rota, have you sought out Teacher Gu Ze? Teacher Gu Ze created the Triple Ice Arrow Technique; maybe he can give you some experience in this area."
Hearing this, Rota’s eyes lit up. "Gu Ze’s Triple Ice Arrow Technique? Why didn’t I think of that? I’ll go find him right away."
Li Wei smiled. "Teacher Gu Ze is teaching a class right now. Master Rota, it would be better to go at noon."
After breakfast, Li Wei returned to his room.
He began his morning Cultivation.
’You can get experience practicing Magic from others’ dreams, but your Mana won’t increase on its own.’
Li Wei worked hard on his Cultivation to increase his Mana.
In a few more days, he would be able to upgrade his Basic Meditation Method again.
Li Wei looked forward to the new effects after upgrading the Basic Meditation Method.
That night, after finishing his Magic practice, Li Wei lay on his bed and used the Great Dream Traveling Skill.
He entered the Dream World.
Li Wei pushed open the door to his room. The darkness outside was calm, indicating that the Dream World on the other side was stable.
’I wonder whose dream this is today?’
Li Wei cautiously reached a hand through. An intense cold bit at him, and when he pulled his arm back, it was already covered in ice.
With a thought, he put on a thick, cotton-padded coat and walked out the door.
WHOOSH!
A cold wind howled amidst a blizzard.
In a world of ice and snow, a single wooden cabin, its windows glowing with warm firelight, stood alone in the blizzard.
Li Wei walked toward the cabin step by step.
Peeking through the window, he was stunned for a moment by the scene inside.
This was actually Teacher Gu Ze’s dream.
However, the Gu Ze in the dream seemed a little young.
Inside the house, a fire crackled in the hearth. A man and a woman were chatting on the sofa, while a much younger Gu Ze and a little girl played on a rug by the fire.
He couldn’t hear their conversation clearly; it reached Li Wei’s ears as nothing but meaningless murmurs.
Only the young Gu Ze’s laughter reached his ears clearly.
Li Wei was quite surprised. He’d never expected the mature, composed Teacher Gu Ze to be dreaming of his childhood.
The man and woman in the dream must be his parents, and the girl was probably his sister.
Everything was very warm and harmonious.
Suddenly, the blizzard intensified. A huge black shadow emerged from the storm, approaching the cabin.
BANG!
A Snow Bear Magic Beast, over five meters tall, smashed through the cabin wall.
Instantly, the frigid wind from outside rushed in, extinguishing the firelight.
Li Wei saw Gu Ze’s parents fighting desperately against the Snow Bear, a battle to the death. Gu Ze pulled the girl into a corner, where they huddled, trembling.
"Sigh!"
A sigh, carried on the blizzard winds, reached Li Wei’s ears.
He recognized it as Teacher Gu Ze’s voice.
Li Wei stared at the Snow Bear as it was about to kill Gu Ze’s parents. After a moment’s hesitation, he sent a small fireball flying.
WHOOSH!
The fireball shot through the blizzard and hit the Snow Bear.
BANG!
The immense power knocked the Snow Bear’s body sideways. Gu Ze’s father, who should have suffered a horrible death, was spared.
The Snow Bear scrambled to its feet, looked at Li Wei, and roared.
The image of Mage Aier casting the Fire Snake Skill surfaced in Li Wei’s mind.
His form changed. His whole body was cloaked in a Magic Robe, and a Magic Staff appeared in his hand.
WHOOSH!
A giant Fire Serpent surged forth, swallowing the charging Snow Bear.
This was all just a dream, after all.
Li Wei had changed the ending of Gu Ze’s nightmare.
The young Gu Ze, hugging his sister, gazed at the powerful Mage who had killed the Snow Bear, his eyes filled with adoration.
An incredibly fervent hope welled up in his heart—’I want to become a Mage!’
After killing the Snow Bear, Li Wei glanced at the four people in the blizzard and turned to leave.
He could only change the dream, not reality.
On his way back to his room, the surrounding blizzard suddenly stopped. Gray fog surged into the dream.
RUSTLE!
The gray fog merged with the ice and snow. A five-meter-tall Snow Bear, wreathed in gray fog, appeared before Li Wei.
Li Wei’s heart shuddered. He had a bad feeling.
’This aura... It’s a Nightmare!’
’How could there be a Nightmare in Teacher Gu Ze’s dream? Is it because I changed the dream’s ending?’
ROAR!
The giant Snow Bear, wreathed in gray fog, charged at Li Wei, raising a massive paw to slam down on him.
Without thinking, Li Wei cast a Small Fireball Technique at maximum speed.
BANG!
The Snow Bear’s paw was blasted apart by the small fireball.
But its enormous body slammed into Li Wei. With a THUD, he was sent flying, crashing into a deep snowdrift.
Protected by his Invisible Armor, Li Wei was unharmed.
He quickly scrambled to his feet and realized that although the Nightmare was huge, it was only a Tier One Nightmare.
