Chapter 30: Chapter 30: Apprentice Mage Benefits

"Three years?"

Mage Aier looked at Li Wei, his expression one of utter disbelief.

From his perspective, Li Wei’s Mana was absurdly strong.

A Mana Strength over one hundred meant a high chance of becoming an Apprentice Mage.

A Mana Strength of three hundred meant a high chance of awakening Extraordinary Traits and becoming a Tier One Mage.

A Mana Strength of 222.

This meant Li Wei’s Mana was even stronger than that of many Apprentice Mages.

He had already reached the level of a Senior Apprentice Mage.

Mage Aier gave Li Wei a deep look and said, "Congratulations on becoming an Apprentice Mage."

This time, Aier’s expression was serious and formal.

Upon hearing this, everyone turned to look at Li Wei.

Shock and envy filled the eyes of Doug and the others.

Many Apprentice Mages looked on in surprise, especially those who had taught Li Wei.

They never imagined that Li Wei, who was their student just yesterday, was now their equal.

Gu Ze gave Li Wei a complicated look, unsure if his talent was truly astonishing or if he had just hidden it too well.

Six months ago, Li Wei had been worrying about the apprentice assessment, on the verge of being expelled from the Mage Tower.

Now, six months later, he had leaped up to become an Apprentice Mage.

The leap was so great that even Gu Ze, who had personally witnessed Li Wei’s growth, felt it was a bit unreal.

Li Wei smiled and said, "Thank you, Mage Aier."

Little John was so excited he was about to faint, his words becoming incoherent.

"Li Wei... Li Wei is actually an Apprentice Mage?"

"He’s my age, and he’s already an Apprentice Mage?"

"SOB! Am I dreaming?"

Little John found it hard to accept.

’We all agreed we were going to become Mage Apprentices, so how did you suddenly become an Apprentice Mage?’

In the audience, the various nobles could no longer sit still, and they all began extending olive branches to Li Wei.

"Mage Li Wei, please visit the Billy Clan when you have time..."

"Mage Li Wei, are you free this evening? I sincerely invite you to be a guest of the Jinxiudun Clan to appraise some Magic Items with us."

"The Treasure Basin Commerce Association welcomes Mage Li Wei! From now on, any purchases Mage Li Wei makes at our association will receive a discount of at least ten percent."

...

Seeing the situation was getting out of hand, Mage Aier quickly said to Li Wei, "Go to the third floor of the Mage Tower and register."

"Gu Ze, you take him."

Only after Li Wei was sent away did the arena quiet down.

The apprentice assessment was still ongoing, but few people were paying attention anymore.

Everyone was trying to figure out how to connect with Li Wei, hoping to get on good terms with this rising new star among Mages.

Li Wei was the youngest Apprentice Mage in the history of Maple City.

An Apprentice Mage at fifteen—this meant it was only a matter of time before Li Wei became an Official Mage.

The status of an Apprentice Mage was already enough for them to show goodwill.

Let alone a genius Apprentice Mage.

Gu Ze and Li Wei walked toward the third floor of the Mage Tower.

Gu Ze was silent for a long time before finally speaking. "Li Wei, don’t get arrogant. The road ahead is still long."

Li Wei nodded. "Yes, Teacher Gu Ze, I know."

He didn’t think becoming an Apprentice Mage was anything to be proud of.

This was just the first step of a long journey.

Hearing this, Gu Ze said, "Even though you’re an Apprentice Mage now, you should still take the time to learn the knowledge required of a Mage Apprentice. It will benefit you greatly in the future."

"Your Mana Cultivation is progressing very quickly. You can focus your efforts on that and not bother learning too many Tier Zero Magic spells. It won’t be too late to learn more Magic after you break through to become an Official Mage."

"I knew you would surpass me one day, that there would be nothing left for me to teach you. I just didn’t expect that day to come so soon."

Upon hearing this, Li Wei said solemnly, "Teacher Gu Ze."

"You will always be my teacher!"

Gu Ze simply smiled and said nothing.

Li Wei hurried to catch up with him. "I think there’s still a lot Teacher Gu Ze hasn’t taught me. For example, your Triple Ice Arrow Technique..."

Gu Ze laughed good-naturedly. "The Triple Ice Arrow Technique is my signature skill! What will I do if you learn it from me?"

"Besides, don’t you have a Fire Elemental Affinity? Why would you learn Ice Magic instead of Fire Element Magic?"

"Fine. If you really want to learn it, I’ll teach you later... but you have to learn the basic Ice Arrow Skill first."

He actually didn’t mind teaching the Triple Ice Arrow Technique to Li Wei.

It wasn’t some exclusive secret manual.

He knew many similar little Magic tricks; the Triple Ice Arrow Technique was just one of the more practical ones.

Li Wei smiled. "Then I’ll thank you in advance, Teacher."

The two of them arrived on the third floor of the Mage Tower.

Li Wei had never been to the third floor before.

The third floor was vast and empty, with only three large doors standing at the far end of the hall.

In the middle of the hall was a statue—a stone pedestal for its lower half, and the sculpted form of a butler for its upper half.

Gu Ze said, "This is the Mage Tower’s Magic Butler. Take out the Apprentice Mage Badge that Mage Aier gave you. After the Magic Butler authenticates it, you’ll officially be an Apprentice Mage of the Mage Tower."

Li Wei did as he was told, took out the badge, and walked up to the Magic Butler.

Sensing someone’s approach, the butler sculpture came to life and looked at Li Wei.

"I am the Magic Butler of the Mage Tower. How may I help you?"

Li Wei presented the badge and said, "Mage Aier sent me to be certified as an Apprentice Mage."

Upon hearing this, the Magic Butler shot two beams of green light from its eyes, which swept over the badge and Li Wei’s body.

ZZZT!

The green light engraved Li Wei’s name onto the badge.

Li Wei looked surprised. He hadn’t expected the Magic Butler’s eyes to be able to fire lasers.

The badge Mage Aier had given him was made of a metal alloy, incredibly hard; even a Tier One Magic spell couldn’t damage it.

Yet the Magic Butler could easily engrave it, which meant the lasers from its eyes were at least at the level of a Tier Two Spell.

The Magic Butler was not just an administrator, but also a Guardian of the Mage Tower.

The green light in the Magic Butler’s eyes faded. It looked at Li Wei and said, "From this day forward, you are an Apprentice Mage of the Mage Tower."

"As an Apprentice Mage, each month you may choose one of the following: one Magic Stone, one small vial of Life Recovery Potion, or one small vial of Mana Recovery Potion."

"Alternatively, you may forgo this month’s benefits to receive 1 Contribution point."

Li Wei glanced at the badge in his hand. The back of it displayed his Contribution points, which currently stood at zero.

Gu Ze said, "All three items are valued at 1 Contribution point. Just pick the one you need; no need to overthink it."

’Only children make choices. Adults take everything.’

Li Wei said, "I’ll forgo it. I want the Contribution point."

Magic Butler: "Contribution point has been issued. Please check to confirm receipt."

After speaking, the Magic Butler closed its eyes and reverted to a statue.

Li Wei flipped the badge over and saw the number "1" had appeared on it.

He smiled. ’Contribution points are better. I can buy whatever I want.’

Seeing this, Gu Ze chuckled. "Quite a few people like to save up their Contribution points each month. A year’s worth of points can buy two Magic Potions. The benefits the Mage Tower provides for Apprentice Mages are pretty good."

"But you should also be aware that while the Mage Tower provides benefits to Apprentice Mages, they are also expected to fulfill corresponding duties."
