Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe-Chapter 674: Infernal Contract
Adam stood victorious amidst the corpses of his enemies. The enemies he had been sent to find by the Twilight Brotherhood. It had been years since he was on their tail, and today he was finally able to meet them and send them to the afterlife.
A feat like this where he took out fourteen Rank 2 Magi all by himself should have made him feel a sense of accomplishment. Yet, his face was stoic as ever. No external events could sway his emotions.
However, there was one thing that did bother him. After he had dispatched off the cultists, the white lotus was unable to absorb their souls!
Adam couldn’t help but silently speculate, All of these cultists must have made deals with the devil. Hence, after their death, their souls have been sent to Hell to serve the devil for eternity.
The knowledge I have about devils is extremely fragmented. There isn’t much I know except the fact that all contracts offered by the devils have the power of the Lord of Hell imbued in them. So there is no way to renege on the terms of the contract.
This would explain why the souls were sent directly to Hell instead of being absorbed by the lotus. But that brings me to my second question - does the power of the Lord of Hell far surpass the white lotus? If not, the lotus would have absorbed the souls of these cultists…
Adam couldn’t confirm his speculations. After all, in the first memory, he’d seen the major powerhouses of the Magus Universe fight over the white lotus. That would mean that the lotus is a highly covetable and legendary artifact.
Could it be that perhaps the lotus is in a weakened state? Perhaps, as I continue to grow stronger, the lotus, too, will strengthen along with me.
Hmm, either way, it’s a good thing that the lotus was unable to override the power of the infernal contracts offered by the devil. If the lotus somehow managed to snatch the souls of these cultists, then I would attract unnecessary attention from extremely powerful and malignant beings.
I have only just begun my journey as a Magus and am far too weak. Keep my head low, don’t get cocky, and continue to diligently work hard.
His train of thought suddenly came to a halt when he noticed the horde of zombies approach him from all sides. When he gazed at them, his eyes, for the first time, rippled with emotions.
Poor girls… You were unjustly killed and sacrificed for others’ greed. Forgive me, there is not much I can do for you.
He heaved a long sigh before he raised his arm and cast a simple hand seal.
Rank 1 Spell: Magic Missile!
At once, dozens of Magic Missiles made of pure mana materialized in the air above him. With a simple wave of his hand, the missiles pierced through the heads of all the zombies with unmatched accuracy.
One after another, the zombies fell to the ground, their bodies twitching for only a moment before they completely stopped moving.
Adam continued to guide all the Magic Missiles to pierce the heads of all the zombies near him. In another minute, close to a hundred zombies had fallen to his spells. Enjoy new stories from novelbuddy
His expression became somber by the moment when he realized that the souls of these zombies were not being absorbed by the lotus either.
I wonder what will happen to these souls when they arrive at Hell. Will they retain their memories from this life? Will they be reborn as humans? Or devils at the bottom of the pecking order…
Suddenly, his eyes narrowed and he canceled his spell.
Wait a minute, what if these souls remember everything from their past life? Specifically, what happened at the moment of their death?
He didn’t know. But there was no way he was going to take chances. His eyes narrowed and he thought to himself solemnly, If that is really the case…
Then I need to be very careful with the next stage of the plan.
A dangerous light flashed through his dark eyes. He took a deep breath and then composed himself. He looked around and saw that all the zombies on this side of the sacrificial pool had been taken care of.
He turned his attention forward and noticed that Qamara and his summons were holding just fine on their own. When his gaze landed on Altan’s guests, his eyes narrowed.
Tsk, none of them died? Should I take care of them now?
Adam then shook his head. Forget it. The laws in the city are too strict and are heavily leaning in favor of the nobles. If Qamara wasn’t around, I would have slaughtered them all and gotten away with it.
But I need her here now. She’s the perfect witness.
He turned around and gazed at the back passageway. He focused his Sphere of Resonance in that direction and found that the area beyond the door served as a prison. He could sense over a hundred women still alive in those prison cells.
Good, he thought.
He then turned his attention toward the ceiling of the cavernous chamber. His eyes narrowed as he made calculations.
Rank 2 teleportation spell was not enough to teleport the whole distance to the surface. Whereas, Altan used the Rank 3 scroll.
Meaning, that there is a distance between 30 to 90 feet from here to the surface… It’ll be a little drag and probably take a couple of tries, but it’s still possible.
He took a deep breath and slowly got into a horse stance. He gathered strength from his large mana reserves and directed it to his fists. A large amount of mana gathered into his palm and the next moment he jumped with all his might, shooting toward the ceiling.
Hand of Doom: One hit!
…
On the surface, outside the gates of the Duskfall Estate, dozens of Magi dressed in black armor and gray capes rode thier magical beasts and patiently waited. All of them together radiated an extremely overbearing and terrifying aura.
The one leading them was an old woman who was sitting atop a magical saber-toothed tiger. She was the most powerful of all the Magi gathered - a Rank 3 - Mana Vortex Magus.
It was none other than one of the seven councilors of the city, the Matriarch of the Benton Family, and the Lord Marshall of Ravenfell, Sabrina Benton!
Sabrina’s eyes narrowed when she felt the slight tremors coming from up ahead. She then turned her attention to the blonde elf standing beside her.
She looked at him deeply for a few moments and then spoke flatly, "For your own sake, I hope you weren’t lying… Daneli Ambermind."

Daneli calmly looked at her and confidently replied, "Lady Benton, it’s time."
BOOM!
Right at that moment, a large section of land within the Duskfall Estate erupted, revealing a massive hole leading underground.
