Goldy Ascendance: Limitless Celestial!-Chapter 39: Yue Linxi.
The darkness, which once threatened to overwhelm him and his sister, now paused as if recognizing a superior force. Shadows distorted, and space quivered, no longer under the control of their Divine Realm pursuer.
The power of Limitless consumed everything—every sliver of light, every breath of air, and even time itself seemed to warp.
Then, with a sharp burst of space-time distortion, Yue Phaelo and his sister disappeared from the bamboo forest, reappearing on his bed back at the inn.
"Poh!"
The two landed abruptly, and Yue’s eyes widened when he felt something soft and warm brush against his lips. A moment of stillness passed before he realized—it was his sister. Their lips had touched, albeit through the cloth mask covering his face.
She pulled away instantly, her eyes filled with confusion and exhaustion. Yet, there was no time to dwell on the awkwardness.
"Ahn..." she groaned in pain, her body still suffering from the battle and the miasma lingering in her wounds.
Yue stretched his hand toward her, channeling what little spiritual qi he had left, blending it with his life qi to heal her injuries.
Slowly, the dark miasma seeped out of her, disappearing as her breathing steadied.
Her energy returned, and her cultivation restored itself. But Yue’s strength was draining fast. Having unleashed Limitless had taken its toll on him. His eyelids grew heavy, and despite his best efforts to stay awake, he slipped into unconsciousness.
_____
The next morning, his sister awoke with a start, her mind racing as she recalled the events of the previous night. A man had saved her. A man who wielded the darkness, someone powerful beyond belief. But as she looked around, her eyes fell on Yue, lying beside her.
Her brother? What’s going on? What’s he doing here?Could it be him?
’No... it couldn’t be,’ she reasoned. ’That man was far stronger. He had a dark aura. My brother could never wield such darkness. And he wasn’t nearly that strong.’
But as she tried to piece things together, two thoughts troubled her.
First, how had she ended up in Yue’s room? She remembered falling into bed after being rescued, but surely that wasn’t his room. Second, she touched her lips, a sudden recollection of the kiss they had shared resurfacing.
Could that have been...?
"Sister!" Yue’s voice interrupted her thoughts, pulling her back to reality.
____
In my mind, ChiChu’s voice chimed in.
’Yes, master! She won’t suspect a thing. As you healed her, I put her to sleep so she wouldn’t see your face.’
’Good,’ I replied, relieved. ’But what about the part where we ended up in the same bed? And... the kiss?’
’Ah, well... I didn’t think that far ahead,’ ChiChu admitted, a tinge of embarrassment in her voice. ’I should have moved you, but I assure you, she won’t link the man who saved her to you!’
I couldn’t help but smirk. My sister might never know the truth, but the memory of that accidental kiss would linger—if only for the amusement of her confusion.
"Sister!" I called again, louder this time, jolting her from her reverie.
Before she could respond, I embraced her suddenly, preventing her from reacting in any way that might reveal her inner turmoil.
_____
As I released the hug, I stepped back to let my eyes take in my sister’s appearance.
Yue Linxi was undeniably beautiful, a vision of grace even in the simplest moments. Her long, silky black hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall, shimmering under the morning light that filtered through the open window.
Her eyes, the color of twilight, held a quiet intensity that often left those around her captivated, and her soft, delicate lips trembled slightly as she caught her breath. Even in her injured state, her robes-white with delicate silver embroidery-clung to her figure in a way that showcased her lithe form, an ethereal presence in the room.
"Brother..." Her voice was soft, barely above a whisper, as she glanced at me, her lips still quivering as if she were recalling something forbidden.
I raised an eyebrow, noticing the flush on her cheeks and the way her eyes momentarily darted away from mine. Was she still thinking about the man she believed had saved her? I couldn’t help but smirk, amused by the misunderstanding, though I didn’t dare let it show too openly.
_____
Yue Linxi’s thoughts were far from calm. ’Although I k-kissed that man which is already not right’... she recalled the masked figure from last night, her heart racing at the memory. ’Why do I feel this attraction to little brother?’
Her thoughts stuttered, and she pressed her hand against her lips as if trying to suppress the sensation that lingered there.
’It’s forbidden!’ she chastised herself, her blush deepening as warmth flooded her face. She quickly looked away, her eyes betraying her inner turmoil.
_____
"Are you alright?" I asked softly, my voice full of concern, though I could feel a subtle playfulness bubbling beneath the surface.
Her face flushed, caught off guard by the sudden intimacy. I could see the confusion in her eyes as she tried to reconcile everything—her rescue, the mysterious savior who didn’t seem like her brother, and now... being in my arms. Was this a trick of mine? A game, as usual?
She stiffened further, trying to regain some composure. "I... I’m fine," she stammered, struggling to push me away but failing. I could tell her body was still weak from the miasma’s lingering effects, though I suspected it was more the shock and embarrassment of the situation that left her unable to act decisively.
I let her go, finally releasing her from the embrace but not before brushing a stray lock of hair from her face.
My touch was soft, gentle, yet it held a knowing weight—as if I were fully aware of her thoughts but chose to toy with them rather than address them outright.
"You seemed a bit out of it last night," I teased, my smirk growing as I stepped back, giving her room to sit up on the bed. "I had to carry you all the way back. You wouldn’t want anyone else to see you like that, right? Weak, helpless... not at all like the sister I know."
She frowned, narrowing her eyes at me. "I wasn’t helpless!" she snapped back, though I could hear the lack of conviction in her voice. The unsettling memory of the kiss and the events of the night before hung in the air. "And don’t call me weak. I didn’t need you to... to carry me."
"Really?" I raised an eyebrow, clearly enjoying myself. I leaned back against the wall, crossing my arms. "Because last I remember, you were unconscious and couldn’t even walk on your own. You should thank me for saving you."
Her eyes widened at the word "saving." I watched her quickly look me over, as if expecting to find some hidden truth in my posture.
But there was nothing out of the ordinary about me. No sign of the overwhelming darkness affinity she had sensed from her mysterious savior. No aura that suggested I had the strength to defeat a Divine Realm cultivator. It didn’t add up.
"That man last night," she muttered, more to herself than to me. "He wasn’t you, was he?"
I tilted my head, feigning ignorance. "Man? What man?"
"The one who saved me," she clarified, her brows furrowing in confusion. "He had incredible strength... and he used dark energy. There’s no way that was you."
My smile remained in place, but internally, I chuckled at the layers of deception at play.
Of course, it had been me, but the Limitless technique and the darkness I had used were beyond what she associated with me. She couldn’t comprehend that her own brother was capable of such power—and I intended to keep it that way.
"Dark energy? Sounds like you’ve been having vivid dreams," I mused, brushing off her suspicions casually. "Must be the aftereffects of the miasma. I’m just glad I got to you before things got worse."
She frowned again, clearly not convinced. But without any proof and with her body still recovering, she couldn’t challenge me outright.
"I don’t dream about things like that," she muttered under her breath, still holding onto her doubts. But for now, she had no choice but to drop it. The kiss, however, lingered in her mind—a puzzle piece that didn’t quite fit, a moment she couldn’t fully shake.
As she sat in quiet contemplation, I watched her, content to let her stew in her own confusion.
In my mind, ChiChu’s voice rang again. ’Master, she won’t figure it out. Trust me, her suspicions will fade soon enough.’
’Let’s hope so,’ I replied silently. ’But I can’t wait to see how long she dwells on that kiss.’
Smiling to myself, I stretched and stood up, my casual attitude masking the weight of everything that had happened the night before.
I had once again used Limitless, tapping into a power that defied normal comprehension.
My sister was alive, and the threat had been neutralized, for now. But there was something lingering in the background—something larger at play that even my Limitless ability couldn’t entirely erase.
