Golden Dragon: Six Thousand Years of Empire-Chapter 42 First Place
Chapter 42: Chapter 42 First Place
"Eight thousand pounds of pearls, how long do you expect me to keep fishing?"
Originally, Tidel’s eyes were dim, but after hearing Noah’s words, a bright light suddenly appeared in his eyes, like a wind-up puppet injected with life and vitality, a faint smile unconsciously appearing on his face,
"Haven’t you already been promoted to Glory Gold? Once you hold your coming-of-age ceremony and are qualified to lead a Knight Order, you’ll have status and power, so why worry about such a small amount of pearls?"
Noah snorted disdainfully and then scrutinized the burly man before him, whose physique was as towering as a brown bear,
"And you actually want to gather eight thousand pounds of pearls, letting a Young Dragon help you regain face? Have you really fallen and become that decadent?"
"I just returned today, haven’t had time to tidy up yet."
Tidel had to explain a bit to save his face.
"Well, you should clean yourself up a bit before coming over. Look at you, you don’t have a semblance of a Duke’s heir."
"Alright!"
Appearing as a Wandering Knight, Tidel merely gave a slight shake, and the light locks formed by the Power of Word Spirit shattered instantly, causing the Golden Dragon to pause for a moment, then feel relieved.
A Short-lived Species with inherent Talent, after enough honing, naturally exhibited a growth speed that Longevity Species couldn’t match. This was a balance in itself.
The Golden Dragon watched the once youth descend the mountain. After a while, a young man dressed in a gold-embroidered, colorful robe, exuding a certain nobility, came into Noah’s view, though he kept tugging at the robe, seemingly quite unaccustomed to such a complicated outfit.
"Now, this attire makes you look presentable."
Noah observed Tidel, who had shaved off his beard and tidied his hair, finally aligning with the spirited youth from his memories, but there were still noticeable differences.
This time, Tidel had shed the naïveté of youth, appearing mature and steady, albeit a bit overly seasoned, as his eyes carried an aged weariness beyond his years, with a hint of melancholy aura surrounding him.
"Not bad, not bad. You could easily charm a Princess or noble ladies from ducal families now."
Tidel’s appearance was already commendable. After nearly two years of training and growing taller, coupled with his first-rate family background and now-acquired mature rogue charm,
Noah was quite certain that this guy could easily enchant those naïve aristocratic ladies, making them fall head over heels and refuse to marry anyone else.
"Noah, you really can’t stop thinking about my marriage, can you?"
Hearing the Golden Dragon’s assessment again after years, Tidel found it somewhat laughable, somewhat annoyed yet relieved, dispelling much of the decadence in his aura and lightening his mood.
"Naturally. Alright, I’ve got the wine ready. Come in and tell me your story."
Noah turned towards the Dragon Nest, but when the young Tidel, invited for the first time, looked at the open grand entrance, surprise and disbelief flickered in his eyes,
"Is this an invitation for me to enter your nest?"
"What? Afraid to come in?"
The Golden Dragon glanced back at the young man.
"Of course not, it’s just a Dragon Nest. It’s not like I haven’t been in one before."
Tidel walked forward, head held high.
"What? Have you been in other dragon’s nests during your training?"
Noah looked at the youth with curiosity, a bit surprised by his courage.
"Not a True Dragon’s nest like yours, just an iron-armored Earth Dragon’s."
Under the Golden Dragon’s gaze, the young man also showed a sheepish smile, somewhat embarrassed.
"You’re comparing a nest of a mixed-breed Earth Dragon of lowly bloodline to my Dragon Nest?"
A faint but palpable pressure seeped out, causing the youth, who was approaching the grand portal of the Dragon Nest, to stumble, feeling a heaviness in his chest.
"I was wrong, Noah. I am willing to apologize."
Seeing the young man quickly softening his stance, Noah didn’t even bat an eyelid as he laid out his terms,
"Three thousand pounds of pearls, I want you to fish them yourself."
"Alright."
"This better not happen again."
Only then did Noah relent, though Tidel didn’t notice the slight curl of the Golden Dragon’s mouth, revealing bright, white Dragon Teeth.
He didn’t care at all about such a small offense, his heart wasn’t narrow enough for that. This guy just needed something to focus on to distract himself.
"Is this the Golden Dragon’s nest? It’s so luxurious."
Following Noah into the Dragon Nest, the young man failed to control his expression, or perhaps he didn’t need to control his expression here, as his spirit instinctively relaxed, revealing an exaggerated look of surprise.
But most people, after witnessing the Golden Dragon’s constructed nest, would probably display such an expression because it was completely different from the stereotypical image people had of nests.
Dark, damp, cold, narrow? Of course not. The vast and bright space allowed even a Giant to walk freely within.
The Sunlight Stones embedded in the dome, as well as the walls and floors shimmering with alchemy matrix patterns, left no shadows in the Dragon Nest, and a sheen like flowing water floated in the air, imparting a faint warmth upon touch.
Noah’s Dragon Nest, rather than being called a nest, was more of a mountain-shaped castle almost hollowing out the upper half of a mountain, an astounding scale indeed.
Because it was designed and built for an adult Golden Dragon to exhibit its True Body and move freely.
"Don’t let your jaw drop."
Seeing the youth’s expression, Noah was quite satisfied, leading him to the guest area of the Dragon Nest.
"Noah, am I the first to enter here?"
Admiring the grandeur of the Dragon Nest’s internal structure, Tidel, catching up with Noah, couldn’t hide his excitement and couldn’t resist asking.
"Of course not. Your parents have visited here countless times."
"No, I mean, am I the first to enter since you’ve taken control here?"
"No."
Noah, ignoring the expectation in the young man’s eyes, mercilessly shattered his fantasy,
"Sifreya, is the mead ready?"
"It’s ready, Your Highness."
A tiny figure, clutching a bottle larger than its body, flitted through the air, catching Tidel’s sight. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
"She’s the first."
Noah pointed to the Great Fairy.
"She doesn’t count, she’s not human."
The youth couldn’t help but proudly justify himself.
"Whatever makes you happy."
Noah handed the bottle to Tidel,
"Now, it’s time for you to make me happy."
"What?"
The youth, utterly confused, took the fragrant bottle of wine.
"Tell me about your adventures, and how you ended up with that decadent aura. I’m very interested."
