Chapter 91: Bounty

Shing! Shing!

Gabriel was currently in the wilderness, battling a group of mutated spiders in their territory.

This was his sixth quest since joining the Adventurers Guild. The quest was actually a rescue mission placed by a wealthy noble from the capital.

FWOOOOOM!

Crimson Judgement flashed in the air, cutting down a spider web that threatened to ensnare him.

The mutated spiders were at least over five feet tall, and their numbers easily exceeded a hundred.

"Dark Flame Orb!"

Whenever the overcharged sphere of flame descended in the middle of a group of spiders, they were all obliterated.

’These creatures’ defenses must be the weakest,’ he thought as he unleashed a barrage of skills, killing several at once.

The only reason they had lasted this long was because of their territory, which was covered in thick spider webs.

They were all low-level and weren’t exactly enough to help him level up, but it was a good time kill and still counted as a completed quest.

Right at that moment, a larger spider—easily twice the size of the normal ones—slowly emerged from the cave mouth with a furious look on its face.

[Mother Spider Lv. 55]

"An area boss," Gabriel deduced from the red string of text.

Although he couldn’t really gauge the spider’s health bar, he could easily tell that the Mother Spider had an enormous amount of HP.

For levels 1–50, the HP cap for players was 100. In his past life, the developers had said this was a way to make players stay cautious and avoid dying easily.

It was after the first class advancements that players received a massive health bonus. From there onwards, HP increased per level-up.

Now that he knew everything, he couldn’t help but feel disappointed at his past self for thinking the developers were being "creative."

Shaking off the thoughts in his head, Gabriel focused on the furious beast in front of him.

The Mother Spider was enraged at the human for killing her children. She slammed the ground, sending a shockwave of webs in all directions.

Bang!

Gabriel didn’t dare stay idle to find out what would happen. He stomped the ground and flipped into the air, narrowly dodging the webs.

Just as he suspected, the webs weren’t ordinary—upon contact, a chain explosion occurred.

"AoE-type skill," he noted, eyes flashing dangerously.

He proceeded to summon the Crimson Lotus Binding Rope and began to spin it in preparation.

Meanwhile, the Mother Spider charged forward, but when she reached a certain spot, Gabriel muttered under his breath:

"Stonebind Trap!"

As soon as the words left his mouth, the ground beneath the spider queen lit up. She tried to move but quickly realized she was stuck. freёnovelkiss.com

Gabriel dashed forward and began binding the spider’s four limbs, making it fall awkwardly to the ground.

With a cruel gleam in his eyes, he summoned Crimson Judgement and struck her abdomen three times in quick succession!

BOOM!

When the third strike connected, the sword’s innate ability was activated—and the Mother Spider exploded into pieces.

Gabriel tried to dodge the flying body parts, but failed and ended up drenched in grime.

"Master!" Anna called out, handing him a towel.

"Thank you," Gabriel said, taking the towel from her.

She smiled. "It’s fine."

Soon, the familiar messages popped up before his retina.

[Ding! You have defeated Lv. 55 Mother Spider!]

[Ding! You have received Experience Points!]

[Ding! You have received +30 EP!]

[Ding! Do you want to extract the target: Mother Spider? Cost: 20 EP]

"Yes," Gabriel said, and 20 EP was swiftly deducted from his accumulated 241. A new screen flashed across his retina.

[Please choose what to extract]

[Silk Combustion Thread (Rare)]

[Core Fragments (Common)]

[+6 Agility]

Thanks to the new perks of his talent, he didn’t need to gamble. He quickly chose the Silk Combustion Thread.

Instantly, a skill scroll appeared in his arms.

[Silk Combustion Thread]

[Rarity: Rare]

[Description: Summons an explosive web dealing AoE fire damage. Cost: 30 MP]

As for the other spiders, they were all relatively weak and wouldn’t drop anything useful, so he didn’t waste EP on them.

He stored the skill scroll and then he and Anna headed into the cave, where they found a little girl tied up in spider web.

Gabriel expertly untangled her.

The girl’s eyes were swollen from crying.

"You’re safe now," Gabriel said as he ruffled the girl’s head.

Some time later, the trio returned to the Adventurers Guild, where the girl was reunited with her parents. She waved at Gabriel before going home.

Over the past few days, Gabriel had extracted some items and skills, selling them off to Damien. Now, he had about 500,000 Valerian dollars in his card.

’If only I could convert money to Extraction Points,’ he mumbled to himself as he briefly checked his progress.

Naturally, he had reached Level 32 and was just a little experience away from reaching Level 33.

Suddenly, while he was lost in thought, the long-awaited message flashed across his retina.

[Ding! The game Realm of Ascendency has launched. Players will now arrive a few seconds from now.]

"Finally," he smiled. "I was beginning to get bored."

Meanwhile, in the beginner villages like Red Fang City—

The air shimmered and exploded with light as pillars of energy slammed into the ground like falling comets.

Players materialized out of the light pillars, looking around with mixed fascination and excitement.

Among them was IceQueen, along with the rest of the Chaos Knights.

She appeared right in the marketplace, her flowing hair and elegant armor making her stand out. The gear she wore was exquisite and rare.

A sadistic smile curled across her lips.

"The hunt has officially begun," she laughed. "Chaos Knights, spread out in all directions and see if you can find the NPC, Broken Heaven!"

"Yes, Guild Master!" they echoed in unison before rushing out across the village.

ChaosCleric, the vice leader, approached. "Since they’re busy, shall we go on a hunt then?"

"Come on, let’s go dominate the rankings!" IceQueen replied as they marched into the wilderness to hunt monsters.

Meanwhile, in Stellar City—

Sitting alone in his room at the Adventurers Guild, Gabriel leaned back on his bed, sipping lukewarm tea. The login to the global forum had completed, and a flood of chat notifications nearly overwhelmed his retina.

Naturally, no players had arrived in the capital yet. Curious about what was going on, he tapped into the forum.

Immediately, his gaze was drawn to the first pinned post, burning bright with a blood-red header.
