God of Technology: Creating the Internet in Another World-Chapter 499: No One Knows Better Than You
Roster Territory.
Grand Hall.
Every group or faction across the continent with healing abilities had gathered here.
To bring them all together, Viscount Roster had paid no small price.
Among them were humans, elves, even beastmen. There were ordinary supernatural beings, church followers...
It seemed that as long as someone had healing abilities, no matter who they were, they could be invited here.
If these people had been gathered together at any other occasion, there would've been plenty of small talk or arguments—the relationships between them were pretty complicated.
But here at Viscount Roster's place, they seemed to show some restraint.
When the time reached the agreed-upon ten o'clock, Viscount Roster walked in from outside, accompanied by a dark-skinned, muscular man.
This was naturally Nidhogg, the Dragon of Despair, using transformation magic. If he'd shown up in his true form, there's no way he could've fit inside this huge building.
"I'm really glad you all could make it to our Roster Territory."
Viscount Roster cleared his throat and said with a smile, "The reasons you were invited might not all be the same, but I can tell you for certain—if you're willing to join this project, you'll get everything you want."
"That's my promise to you."
Viscount Roster's simple opening statement definitely caused a stir in the venue.
Not because of his promise or anything—it just sounded kind of weird.
Different reasons for being invited? But everyone could get what they wanted from this one project?
As for the different reasons for being invited, they'd already figured that out over the past while.
After all, with so many people gathered here, quite a few of them were acquaintances. Naturally, after chatting a bit, they'd put two and two together.
Gotta say, now they were even more curious about what exactly Viscount Roster's project was.
They didn't believe one project could satisfy so many different demands.
Besides, what kind of project could it even be?
Building hospitals?
A bunch of the churches here had already been building hospitals lately, but the results were pretty mediocre.
Even though they'd thrown plenty of gold coins at it, the impact was minimal.
The people who used to come to them for treatment still came.
Those who didn't want treatment still didn't want it.
"As people with healing abilities, I think no one knows better than you what the health situation is like for ordinary people in this world, right?"
"Aside from elves and dragons, for most races, nearly half the population doesn't even make it to adulthood. And of the remaining half, most don't live to a very old age either."
"We want to fix this situation."
As soon as he said that, the place erupted.
Way louder than before.
"How do you fix something like that?"
"Even if all of us dedicated ourselves to producing holy water, we couldn't possibly save everyone."
"Your holy water at least covers everyone equally, anyone can be treated with it. For us, we have to figure out the right treatment for each person, which makes it even more complicated."
"Unless we could get way more people doing what we do, there's no way this is possible, right?"
"I mean, I had my suspicions, but hearing it out loud still feels crazy."
"I wonder what Viscount Roster's planning to do?"
"Probably has something to do with the Church of Technology and Magic Conductors, I bet."
"..."
Viscount Roster didn't interrupt their discussion. For them, this was just too shocking—they definitely needed time to process it.
They needed a bit of time to digest this information.
After pausing for about a minute to let them discuss freely, and once the discussion died down a bit, he continued:
"Our plan has several parts."
"First, regarding medicines—whether it's church holy water, druid potions, or regular herbal remedies, we believe they can all be mass-produced."
"Just like we've already achieved mass production of several types of druid potions."
"Moving forward, Roster Territory Group Company and Southern Development Corporation will invest 100 million dragon gold coins into this project."
One hundred million!
Dragon gold coins!
Dragon gold coins had serious purchasing power.
For a normal person living carefully, one dragon gold coin could last them a whole year, even with some left over.
Dropping 100 million dragon gold coins just like that shocked quite a few people.
Among the people here, some factions probably couldn't make that much money in one, two, or even three years.
Viscount Roster didn't pause this time and continued:
"Anyone interested in this project can join our cause. Everyone will receive generous compensation and unparalleled prestige."
"For example, if a certain druid potion really achieves its ideal effect and we mass-produce it, we'll put the names of everyone most important to that project right on it, so everyone knows."
"For generations to come, it'll stay that way!"
Those who were already starting to feel tempted, or at least taking this seriously, became even more restless after hearing that.
Especially the folks from the churches.
They didn't even need to put their own names on it—just putting their church's name would already satisfy their most basic need.
Spreading the faith!!
Why did these churches go to such great lengths to heal others?
Why did they regularly give out free holy water?
The reason was simple!
They needed believers!
This method was the fastest and most effective way to spread their faith.
If they could really create a medicine that could be sold worldwide, what could be better for spreading their faith than that?
Especially if they could use Viscount Roster's distribution channels to get these medicines to even more places.
But could something like this actually be done?
Mass-producing all kinds of different medicines—this was something they'd never even considered.
And even if they mass-produced them and sent them out, would people really know which ones to take?
On this point, aside from a few systems that had medicines with universal effects for everyone, all the other systems were skeptical.
This kind of operation might not have good results at all—it could even backfire.
They couldn't expect those people to learn on their own which medicines to take in which situations, right?
If they could learn that, this wouldn't be such a hassle in the first place.
"I know what you're all worried about. You're thinking—the different medicines you create are for different situations, so how can you make sure people use the right medicine?"
"If someone uses the wrong medicine, sometimes it can be even worse than poison, right?"
Viscount Roster waited for their discussion to die down before speaking up and voicing many people's concerns.
Seeing quite a few people nodding, Viscount Roster smiled and said, "To address this common situation, we're rolling out a second plan."
