God of Technology: Creating the Internet in Another World-Chapter 336: All Blue-Chip Stocks!
While the World Economic News Agency was prepping today’s financial report, a lot of big groups with enough capital were also gathering together to discuss what came next and talk about future trends.
Gray Fort Empire, capital city.
In a church next to the old Temple of War, a dozen or so people of all shapes and sizes had gathered. If any outsiders were there, they’d definitely gasp out loud.
Every Pope and Shepherd from all the churches headquartered near the Gray Fort Empire’s capital was there.
On the huge conference table sat some charts showing today’s stock market fluctuations.
"This is great!" The Garden Pope said with a smile. "The companies that went public today really are quite different from each other, but that’s exactly why we now know that even though people in the market are going crazy, they still have some basic judgment."
"Yeah, we can totally use these people’s increasingly crazy yet rational behavior to make money off them." The Drama God Church Shepherd looked very serious. "What a performance this is. Manipulate people’s hearts and you maximize profits."
"I’ve actually got a good idea. If you’re all willing to cooperate, I think we’ll open up a whole new profit model for us churches!"
A lot of them had actually figured out quite a bit from just this one short day of stock market movement.
For instance, the stock market was basically just companies selling expectations.
As long as a company had huge potential in the future, its stock price would shoot up.
And these old hands who’d been managing churches for countless years were naturally the first to notice this.
When it came to understanding human nature, nobody in this world knew it better than them.
Time flew by, and soon it was the next day.
After yesterday’s buzz, the stock market and the craziness happening in it had spread across almost the entire continent. Pretty much all the regular young and middle-aged people in the big cities had heard about it.
When it came to making money, almost everyone was genuinely interested.
On the Magic Net, even late at night, there were tons of people discussing it.
9 AM.
The stock market opened right on time.
The moment the doors to the Dragon Stock Exchange in the City of Gold opened, a huge crowd rushed in, practically filling the entire hall. It was packed. Every trader had lines of people in front of them, and the Dragon Bank next door was the same way.
Even though stocks could now be traded on the Magic Net—you just needed to go to Dragon Bank, get a bank card, deposit money, and then you could trade from anywhere using the Magic Net—a lot of people still chose to come to the exchange first thing.
First, if they had any questions, they could ask the staff on-site directly.
Second, the Magic Net was just too small. If you wanted to see information, you had to scroll around, which was really difficult. But at the exchange, all the information was posted right on the walls where you could see it clearly and collect way more information.
With all these factors stacking up, naturally the place was packed.
At the same time, pretty much every Dragon Bank across the continent had lines stretching out the door.
People who originally didn’t really understand or want to understand all these new things—the Magic Net, Dragon Bank, all of it—had heard that you could basically pick up free money there and made a difficult decision: deposit money, get on the Magic Net, trade stocks!
They all knew now that stock trading was a way to make money.
Just buy in, and making several times your money in one day wasn’t even a problem!
"It’s going up!"
"Up, up, it’s going up!"
"Mine’s going up too, awesome!"
"Haha, I knew it’d keep going up. I’ve already made three times my money!"
City of Gold, in a tavern not far from the Dragon Stock Exchange, excited voices rang out the instant the market opened at 9 AM.
The moment the market opened, Dragon Delivery led the charge with a surge.
Following that momentum, all the various stocks related to Viscount Roster started taking off.
The gains weren’t quite as big as yesterday, but they were still pretty fierce.
Take the Roster Territory Group Company, for example. Pretty soon the buy orders were climbing to five gold coins per share.
Even then, supply couldn’t keep up with demand.
The other stocks were in similar situations.
Especially the Dawn Southern Development Company—yesterday it had been one of the lower-performing ones, but today it caught right up. Now, the only one lagging behind was the Foster Iron Mine Company.
Not long ago, on Viscount Roster’s suggestion and with the Wild Mage’s help as a go-between, the Foster Iron Mine had completed a total transformation. The Hill Lands Commonwealth, the King, nobles, merchants, and Viscount Roster with his technical investment all came together to form the Foster Iron Mine Company.
This company would handle both iron ore mining and steel smelting. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
In the early stages of reform, plus needing to invest heavily in various facilities, the Dragon Stock Exchange’s assessment unsurprisingly indicated that the first year would see losses, with the future unknown.
Under these circumstances, even in a crazy market, people were pretty reluctant to buy in easily.
Roster Territory.
The Hand of the King, Berion, smiled as he looked at the information on the Magic Net. "Viscount Roster, looks like some stocks are better than others, huh? Why’d you recommend they pick up stock in the Foster Iron Mine Company?"
"I’m suggesting you all buy it, including you, Minister Berion." Viscount Roster said with a smile. "Even for the strongest elf, after an arrow leaves the bow, it still needs some time before it hits the target, doesn’t it?"
The Foster Iron Mine Company owned the world’s largest and easiest-to-mine iron ore deposits. They were about to install large batches of metallurgical Magic Conductors produced in Roster Territory, and on top of that, there was the massive demand for steel as the magic-tech industry developed...
With all these factors combined, maybe the Foster Iron Mine Company would have the greatest potential of this era.
Inside the divine realm.
Ren, taking a break from his busy work, casually opened the Magic Net and saw that, just as he’d expected, the stock market was creating a huge miracle.
A wealth miracle.
In just two short days, the dragons and the Church of Technology’s various companies—except for the Foster Iron Mine Company—were all way out in front.
If this were Ren’s previous life, they’d definitely be blue-chip stocks at the very least.
"This really is amazing. Selling at 1 gold coin, and now they’re almost at 6 gold coins. How long has it even been?!" The Goddess of Magic was also pretty shocked looking at the stock market.
The Goddess of Magic knew about the stock market and the whole plan.
Ren had mentioned it before.
She also knew what role the stock market would play.
But she never imagined it could achieve such ridiculous results!
"Actually, this price is still nowhere near these companies’ real potential." Ren said with a smile. "But this does need to be a process. All we need is a miracle."
"Wait a while, and once people know that wealth miracles can be created here, we’ll list some other companies. Like, say, the Pastoral Church’s wool guild. That’s when the market will gradually become more complete."
