Chapter 635: Chapter 705: Monster Siege

"How can it start raining just when it says it will rain, ah, it’s so cold." In the shed, Xia Ya complained, wrapped in a down jacket, huddling her body.

"We already said not to come at this time, but you insisted on doing so, and now you’ve got what you wanted," Wu Tian grumbled.

"Alright, you two cut it out, especially you, Wu Tian, quiet!" Rock Enemy suddenly spoke up with a stern face.

Wu Tian looked very displeased as he glanced over at Cai Qin, but when he saw Fang Yi, Wu Tian’s fists suddenly clenched, his neck veins appearing briefly and then vanishing.

Whirrrr~~~~

Tap tap tap~~~~

Raindrops larger than beans hit the shed, making a relentless noise, like frying beans.

If the setting were different, turning this shed into a pavilion, perhaps it would have been poetic and picturesque, but as it was, it had absolutely nothing to do with poetry or picturesqueness.

It was already winter, and it was in the mountains. The nights were naturally cold, and with the winter rain, it was bone-chillingly cold and hard to bear.

But Fang Yi didn’t feel anything; he was an Earth Level six-stage martial artist, naturally resistant to such coldness. However, as Fang Yi turned his head, he saw Cai Qin beside him shivering slightly.

Cai Qin seemed to feel Fang Yi’s gaze, so she turned her head, only to meet Fang Yi’s eyes. Fang Yi asked with concern, "Cold?"

Cai Qin stubbornly said, "Not cold."

"Not cold at all."

"Please!" Fang Yi scoffed, took off his coat, and draped it over Cai Qin. Seeing Cai Qin trying to take it off, Fang Yi sternly said, "If you dare take it off, I’ll sever ties with you."

Cai Qin’s eyes filled with complex emotions as she looked at Fang Yi’s stern face. Her heart felt indescribably complicated, and she slowly lowered her hands.

Outside the shed was pitch black, with rain falling nonstop. In the center of the shed, a bonfire was burning. Fang Yi and Cai Qin sat side by side, looking out.

Cai Qin suddenly raised her hand to pinch the bridge of her nose, whispering with a lowered voice, "I don’t know why, but I have a bad premonition." Her brows furrowed, her expression somewhat gloomy.

"I feel it too," Fang Yi said.

"Really?"

"Mm." Fang Yi nodded slightly, looking out at the rainy night, and said, "Anyway, don’t sleep too deeply."

Cai Qin nodded.

At that moment, Rock Enemy came over, smiling kindly, and said, "How about I keep watch tonight?"

Cai Qin and Fang Yi exchanged glances, then replied, "No, Uncle Rock, we’ll keep watch."

"How can that be, Cai Qin? You have a lot to do tomorrow; you need to conserve your energy. I’m free anyway, let me keep watch."

"Hehe, Mr. Rock, you’re a biologist; there are many more tasks where your expertise is needed. I’ll keep watch tonight," Fang Yi said with a smile.

Rock Enemy wanted to say more, but just then, Xia Ya suddenly let out a sharp scream.

Cai Qin immediately ran over and asked anxiously, "Xia Ya, what’s wrong?"

Xia Ya was pale, her eyes wide, pointing shakily into the rainy night, and stuttered, "Mo-monster..."

"Monster?"

Cai Qin looked in the direction Xia Ya was pointing but saw nothing.

"Little Ya, you might have been seeing things," Luo Ke Di approached and soothed.

However, Little Ya’s emotions did not calm down, but instead grew more terrified, his body shaking violently.

Yet they ended up seeing nothing and had no choice but to give up. Fang Yi kept watch through the night while Cai Qin stayed awake with Little Ya.

Boom!

Thunder roared and the rain did not cease; the downpour continued.

Fang Yi stared into the vast rainy night, his expression solemn. Due to his growth, Fang Yi had become colder and more indifferent, no longer as frivolous as before. Sharpness remained, but it was now restrained.

Snap!

Fang Yi lit a cigarette; a spark illuminated the dark night.

Fang Yi took a gentle drag on his cigarette, and smoke wound out of his mouth.

Boom!

A flash of lightning suddenly lit up.

Roar!

Accompanied by a piercing roar, a creature pounced towards Fang Yi.

The roar was not only piercing but also woke Cai Qin and the others; Little Ya and the group also came to their senses. When they caught a glimpse of the creature with the help of the lightning, they all screamed.

In the flash of lightning, Fang Yi saw the creature’s appearance clearly. It resembled a man standing on two legs but was covered in black fur, like a giant gorilla with immense strength, and it lunged directly at Fang Yi with clear purpose.

Fang Yi watched the humanoid creature coldly. As it rushed at him, Fang Yi executed the Divine Travel Steps and moved in close.

With a bang of a fist, Fang Yi’s punch, filled with True Qi, struck straight at the humanoid creature’s chest!

With a loud crash, the humanoid creature was sent flying, creating a large gap in the fence of the shed, but the creature struggled up from the ground as if nothing had happened. It roared and charged at Fang Yi again.

Fang Yi’s expression tightened, a glint flashed in his eyes. Just as he was about to strike, he suddenly halted. From all around, low growls could be heard and Fang Yi noticed pair after pair of blood-red eyes.

Unnoticed, Cai Qin approached Fang Yi and whispered, "These creatures might have escaped from the Biological Research Institute."

"These creatures are strong, almost all of them are at Earth Level Third Stage," Fang Yi said.

"How is that possible?!" Cai Qin gasped. She had only recently reached Earth Level Third Stage herself; these creatures were all at that level? That was terrifying.

"But luckily, their intelligence isn’t that great," Fang Yi said.

"What do we do next?"

"You take Little Ya and the others and leave first, I’ll cover the rear," Fang Yi decisively said.

Cai Qin nodded; she wasn’t like those melodramatic TV shows or movies where if you don’t leave, I won’t either. She understood that staying here with Little Ya and the others would only burden and hinder Fang Yi. If they left, Fang Yi wouldn’t have to worry about their safety and could fight freely.

Seizing the moment when the creatures hadn’t gathered yet, Cai Qin led Little Ya and the others to break out, while Fang Yi covered their retreat. At this time, Fang Yi felt somewhat emotional about how thoughtful Cai Qin was. If only she had told him earlier, he would have brought Black Prison along.

But feeling emotional was useless now; without a weapon, he had to rely on his fists.

The previous humanoid creature charged again, and this time Fang Yi held nothing back. He delivered a Mountain Breaking move, piercing directly through the creature’s chest, causing it to howl in pain and struggle a few times before it could no longer move.

With a thud, the creature’s corpse fell to the ground, while around him, more and more pairs of blood-red eyes appeared in the vast rainy night, converging towards him like souls crawling out of Hell, horrifyingly grotesque.

(Just to clarify, having creatures doesn’t mean this is science fiction—such research exists in reality too. Well, that’s the end of Chapter Four, off to cook!)
