All the pain and suffering had led up to this moment.

Quite frankly, Cain did feel a bit ticked off by this.

As he stared at this soulless creature she'd the surrounding flames like a new born chick bursting out of its shell, he couldn't help the seed of anger planted in his heart.

For most of the trial, nothing had been as it seemed. There always seemed to have been a small hidden piece of the puzzle that would turn everything on its head once revealed.

That was how it had been up until now.

'Kill a Star' did literally, with no strings attached, mean Kill a Star.

Or whatever this thing really was.

The {Embrace of a Dark Winter} armor that shrouded his body had been very useful up to this point. Although it had suffered a fair bit of damage through the trials, it was still in relatively good shape.

The {Lonely Dragon} Warblade was as sharp and overbearing as ever.

Cain sucked in a deep breath.

In this dark void, in the depths of Eternity...

An earthshaking battle had begun.

With a loud bang, the Star Being went from zero to a hundred, reaching Cain in the blink of an eye.

'Fast.'

Cain calmly deflected the blazing sword aimed at his neck.

The world around him seemed to slow down to a halt as he activated the {Beholder's Eye} for the first time in actual combat.

He noticed the difference immediately.

{Eye of Clairvoyance} had to major functions. One was to provide him with omini-directional vision. In that way, he would be able to easily avoid attacks in all directions if he could sense them fast enough. The other function was allowing him to see te truth of the world.

Most illusions, hexes, deceptions and mysteries were unraveled by the {Eye of Clairvoyance}.

However, it was not a hundred percent effective. If the power of the illusion or hex was high enough, he would be unable to fully see through it.

If the Tier of the magic involved was too high, he could end up with serious injuries to his person, perhaps losing an eye, or even worse, death.

The {Beholder's Eye} took all the {Eye of Clairvoyance} was and amped it up by a few degrees and then some...

The depths of his eyes turned vibrant as the world opened up to him.

Even the darkness of the void above didn't seem to dark now.

He bent his arm a few degrees, allowing the flaming blade to slide right off of his before taking a step forward, smashing the hilt of his sword into the Star Being's solar plexus.

The Star Being blocked with its other hand, making use of the force behind the blow to create some space.

Cain bent his upper body as he chased after it.

Before the Star Being could come to a halt, he was already upon it, swinging the {Lonely Dragon} at its neck. If his blade kissed its fiery flesh, its head would go flying in an instant.

In a show of incredible, borderline terrifying agility, the Star Being bent backwards, completely dodging the blade.

The flaming sword it had dropped earlier flew through the air like a missile.

He parried it from behind, avoiding a fatal injury.

The blade made its way back into the hands of the Star Being who brandished it fluidly, pointing it at his face once again.

Cain couldn't help but grin wildly.

'If it was easy, how would it be any fun?'

The two engaged once again, throwing out and chaining successive attacks relentlessly, whilst blocking the deadly blows from their opponent.

Every move, every action was backed with the thick stench of death.

The ground of the dark hall quaked with every clash they had.

And both had yet to use any special skills or spells.

'In terms of speed and physical might, it has me beat.'

That much of a conclusion was easy to come to. He was a creature of flesh and bones, so one would have expected him to pack more of a punch.

But each and every blow from the Star Being had the power to crack a small mountain open.

Its speed and agility were even more troublesome. It moved faster than regular eyes could follow, perhaps even faster than he would have been able to follow with {Eye of Clairvoyance}.

But he was no slouch as well. He made up for his lack in power and speed with technique and precision.

Thanks to the {Beholder's Eye}, he could quite literally, see the thing's weak spots, or more accurately, see where the convergence of the flames that made the Star Being up were weaker than normal.

Each time he managed to get a hit in, the Star Being was pushed back.

They fought solely with their blades for a while, none managing to get the upper hand.

Knowing that it would not kill Cain this way, the Star Being decided to take things to the next level.

Throwing a particularly heavy blow, it forced Cain to take a few steps back.

Using the opportunity, the Star Being stretched its mouth open and let out a guttural screech that sounded more inhuman than anything else. Its body then surged with golden flames.

Flames poured down its.eyes like tears as it stretched its hand out, palm aimed in Cain's diredirection.

Cain was no fool he immediately knew what was about to happen.

He grinned.

The wise choice would have been to dodge the barrage that was bound to come.

'Let's test it out.'

He wanted to see just how strong the latest addition to his arsenal truly was.

And so, he allowed his mana burn.

Hundreds of magic circles appeared behind him, each one like a flower blossom prepared to release its fragrance at dawn.

Each magic circle gave birth to small orbs of revolving flames.

The depths of Cain's eyes glowed with a golden flame as he infused each and every one of the {Flame Orbs} with the golden {Eternal Sunfire}.

BANG!

A fraction of a moment later, both sides let their magics fly.

Thousands of Sunfire saturated beams blasted towards Cain, each one capable of snuffing his life out.

In response, Cain's Sunfire saturated {Flame Orbs} collided with the beams.

Both exploded on impact, producing an incredibly enormous mass of growing flames between the two.

Cain snapped his fingers and quickly activated another spell.

The rapidly spreading flames shrank in size, eventually turning into a singular pulsating orb of flames.

The Star Being crossed its arms across its chest as the {Imploding Star} collided with its body.

The force of the explosion send Cain's body sliding back a few meters.

After the flames subsided, Cain saw the Star Being walk through the remnant flames, its entire left arm blown clean off whilst its right arm dangled helplessly at its side.

The attack has done some serious damage.

Seeing such an opportunity, Cain closed the distance between them before the Star Being could recover.

Threads of golden flames began stitching its right arm from the hinges whilst its left arm began to regrow.

And until both were complete, it was at Cain's mercy.

Fists glowing red with the force of [Ki Fire], Cain jammed his entire right arm through the Star Being.

The air ignited and crackled like thunder as its body was launched back, smashing against the wall of the dark hall.

A small crack crept up, but it disappeared faster than it had appeared.

The Star Being had yet to look up when Cain closed the distance yet again.

Both fists glowing crimson, he unl ashed a barrage of mighty blows, each one greater, far more destructive, and backed with even more malice than the first.

A concussive blast of energy smashed into the {Embrace of a Dark Winter}, forcibly pushing him away.

Pulling itself away from the indentation its back had made in the wall, the Star Being struggled to stay on its feet.

Cain sneered at it under his helmet. He stretched his hand out and the {Lonely Dragon} Warblade flew through the air like a nimble leaf, Landon in his grip a moment later.

He brandished his blade skillfully, pointing it at the Star Being's throat.

The tide of killing intent coming from the Star Being turned into a tsunami.

Cain chuckled to himself,

"Looks like I've managed to piss you off."

Perhaps the abominable thing was pissed off, perhaps it wasn't.

It was difficult to tell since the creature seemed to only have a single expression to make.

However, the flames that were its eyes seemed to have become a fair bit brighter.

Its broken body stitched back together in mere moments, causing Cain to let out a groan of frustration,

'These damned things always have some form of regeneration. Killing them is such a hassle!'

The sword of flames in its hand suddenly grew larger, its features becoming more defined.

The Sunfire that enveloped the blade was even hotter now.

Cain responded in turn, enveloping the {Lonely Dragon} Warblade in a layer of [Ki Fire].

Both remained motionless for a brief moment.

Cain took the chance to activate a few skills.

A moment later, the two clashed again.

The clash this time was far more powerful than it had originally been, so much so, it caused slight ripples to spread through the void.

Cain gritted his teeth when he found himself being forcibly pushed back.

'Just how much strength does this thing have?!'

Even after activating the flame enchantment of {Burning Spirit}, he was unable to contend with it. It swung its improved sword at him again.

He blocked with the flat of his blade and was entirely crashing into a nearby wall.

It was swift to follow up, flapping its wings and shooting right for him. He fucked out of the way, avoiding certain death in the way of having his brains splattered into the dark walls.

Cain tasted a bit of iron on his tongue which he promptly spat out.

He rose to his feet, his gaze filled with scorn and pride as he sneered at the Star Being,

"Is that all you've got?"
