Global Wasteland: I Obtained A Top Tier Shelter-Chapter 700 - 478 Mutation
"Bai! Bai!"
Lin Yue called out to the little creature lying on the sheepskin cushion, already deep in sleep, anxiety overwhelming him.
He had already called out dozens of times, but no matter what he did, Bai showed no sign of waking up.
Looking at the situation, the vehicle was almost at the main Shelter, yet Bai was now in a coma-like sleep, leaving Lin Yue completely puzzled.
These past days, nothing had tired it out, right?
Over the past three days, it was mostly him tirelessly transporting and disassembling various items brought back from the airport, though he occasionally asked Bai and Xiao Meng to help with sorting, he didn’t let them do any heavy work.
Even when going to several sub-bases, he used the Flame Spraying Flying Device or drove there, without Bai taking him.
During this period, Bai was mostly eating and playing.
The most exhausting activity was fishing in the small lake at the Natural Sulfur Ore Mountain.
That time, Bai indeed got rid of all the prey fish in the small lake, allowing Lin Yue to harvest a nearly Storage Space-full of catch, but even then, Bai showed no sign of exhaustion.
Lin Yue felt increasingly puzzled; what was going on?
He continued to call out to the little creature, yet Bai still showed no response.
It comfortably rested its head against its arms, curling its huge body as if it were a newborn baby.
Its breathing was long and deep, as if this was how it had always been.
"Could it be... molting?" Lin Yue suddenly recalled this possibility.
He carefully checked Bai, and indeed found a sign of molting at the tip of its curled tail.
However, it was strange.
Bai had only just molted a few days ago.
Lin Yue felt even more confused.
The train soon arrived, and the excited Black Dot and Green Claw, along with the Little Ice Lizards, quickly returned to the Shelter without noticing Bai’s abnormal condition.
They returned to the long-time-no-see main Shelter, eagerly playing with the other Little Ice Lizards.
However, Xiao Meng seemed to notice something was amiss; it went underneath the train station, looking up.
"Grr..." It lowly growled, detecting the unusual scent coming from Bai.
"Xiao Meng, come up here and help me get Bai down!" Lin Yue knew that even with the Mechanical Arm and Exoskeleton, he couldn’t easily move Bai.
Given Bai’s size, even if it wasn’t that heavy, moving it would potentially hurt the little creature.
Xiao Meng quickly took the elevator to the train station, coming to the train side, where it saw Bai in a deep sleep.
"Xiao Meng, is this little guy alright inside? It suddenly fell asleep!" Lin Yue sensed that this might be related to molting, but something felt off.
He looked at Xiao Meng, who seemed hesitant, neither shaking nor nodding.
"What’s wrong with it?" Lin Yue suddenly felt nervous, wondering what was going on with Bai.
"Grr..." Xiao Meng finally shook its head, got into the train, lifted Bai up, and took it to the freight elevator for it to descend.
Then, it descended from the city wall, went to the ground, lifted Bai again, and brought it to the main Shelter’s grand hall.
The current main Shelter had transformed into a tall castle-like structure.
The earlier one was now used as an activity room by Lin Yue.
In one corner of the hall, Lin Yue laid three thick layers of sheepskin cushions; Xiao Meng gently placed Bai on them, seemingly quite worried.
"Grr..." Xiao Meng gestured to Lin Yue, indicating for him to exit so Bai could rest comfortably.
Though Lin Yue was worried, seeing Xiao Meng not appearing anxious, he knew it was probably not a major issue, although still tense, he wasn’t entirely relieved.
Lin Yue thought for a moment, leaving a good amount of food beside Bai, before heading out of the Shelter with Xiao Meng.
It seemed Bai still needed more sleep; Lin Yue had many tasks waiting for him.
"Xiao Meng, bring all the little ones back; I need to assign tasks."
After more than three days of rest, many matters had piled up.
Lin Yue knew that to face upcoming disasters, he had to take action.
What he urgently needed was food stockpiling and trading.
He currently had stored enough food for himself, the Little Ice Lizards, Bai, and Xiao Meng, which would last about three or four years without issue.
However, as the saying goes, having food means no panic, and three or four years wasn’t the limit.
Moreover, Lin Yue intended to eventually provide enough food to support over ten thousand people in the days ahead.
Canned food was just for flavor; vegetables and fruits were the real solutions.
Lin Yue believed Survivors should have some food stored, but vegetable production was generally extremely low at present. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
Initially, he could supply several Refugee Villages, but in the end, it was barely enough for Fei Yue’s group.
Without expanding production, it was certainly unworkable.
Previously, he solely relied on a glass greenhouse, but now he possessed unimaginable amounts of steel, concrete, alloy, and glass from the airport.
