Global Game: I Can Choose Instance Rewards-Chapter 493 - 345: Persuasion or Battle (Part 2)
As Wang Zhifan spoke, his entire aura quietly locked onto the alien girl in front of him, making her understand that if she refused this time, she would have to go through the resurrection process again. She might even lose the power of resurrection in a very special way, just like the Undying Demon Dragon did, and fall completely.
While Ithrace was internally struggling, at a distant pitch-black tower, a group of advanced professionals was ready, waiting for the possible arrival of the Demon King himself.
The only player among them, the Yin Country Lizardman, sat cross-legged and meditated with closed eyes, seated atop a black giant lizard, guarding the tower’s entrance.
A few berserker-type professionals with large axes or hammers stood on either side of him, wearing armor forged from fine steel, visibly packed with formidable defense.
Swordmaster-type professionals, with agile longswords or rapiers at their waists, dressed in light or leather armor, hid further away. These individuals were not skilled in defending against powerful attacks but excelled in dealing exceptional damage to single targets, and their speed was unparalleled by other professions.
Further out in the region, Moonfall Archers, Pyromancer Mages, and other top-tier ranged professionals were scattered in hiding. They could provide various types of ranged damage and control effects, definitely a presence the Demon King could not ignore.
Even farther away, the Great Sage Agulas Rod oversaw the entire situation, possessing both strategic-level deterrence and unparalleled auxiliary capabilities, ensuring the Demon King’s whereabouts were utterly exposed.
At this moment, several high-level professionals guarded the pitch-black tower in a layered manner, openly displaying their wariness towards certain presences. Suddenly, a white dove, exuding mysterious power, appeared above their heads. As it flew past them, it uttered in a human voice:
"The Demon King has arrived! The Demon King has arrived!"
After saying this, the dove shot toward the edge of a forest in front of them, where it detonated its energy body, revealing an invisible presence that everyone had previously overlooked.
It appeared to be a black-skinned human male, yet his expression was indescribably fierce and bizarre. When the white dove broke his invisibility, exposing him to everyone, he showed no shock or fear, but rather a hint of irritation.
"I originally intended for you scum to live a few more days... But since you insist on courting death, let me fulfill your desire!"
As the strange black-skinned male spoke, his aura suddenly surged. From the stealthy state that most people couldn’t detect, he instantly transformed into a presence as magnificent as a towering mountain, charging toward the pitch-black tower’s entrance at terrifying speed, heading straight for the high-level Lizardman player blocking the door.
The slim, black-skinned Lizardman showed no fear. He opened his eyes, exiting his meditation state, and commanded his giant lizard mount to charge headlong at the intruder, even opening the lizard’s mouth to try and bite him.
The berserker professionals on either side coordinated, using their weapons to block the intruder’s other paths of advance, forcing him to choose between a head-on clash with either the giant lizard or them.
Meanwhile, further away, the Swordmasters, Archers, and Mages also swiftly took action, rapidly forming an encirclement around the target, with some already launching ranged attacks, indifferent to the possibility of friendly fire.
Faced with this initial wave of attacks, the black-skinned male transformed by the Demon King was unfazed. Without even glancing to either side, he charged straight into the giant lizard’s mouth and, in an instant, used his body to pierce through the lizard, appearing inside the tower’s entrance.
"My beloved lizard!!! I will kill you!!!"
The Lizardman shouted in fury and shock, his sparse stubble on his dark cheeks shaking violently. He jumped off the lizard’s corpse and fiercely threw a red sphere into the tower’s entrance.
Boom!!!
A violent explosion followed, with the pitch-black tower’s entrance spewing bright flames and smoke, but unfortunately, there was no trace of the black-skinned man.
"Don’t pursue! The Demon King wants to divide our forces using the tower!"
A professional immediately realized the Demon King’s plan. Though it might be powerful enough to confront everyone here, it was evidently wise enough not to want to battle as one against many, aiming instead to lure enemies into the tower for piecemeal elimination.
From the Demon King’s stealthy approach to the tower earlier, it was clear it favored deceit, contrary to its seemingly rough demeanor.
"We must enter the tower! Otherwise, if it acquires the equipment, it will be even harder to handle!"
Another group of professionals voiced their opinions, intending to rush into the tower to track the Demon King.
The Lizardman belonged to this group. In his hand, a machine gun appeared seemingly out of nowhere. Holding the machine gun, he charged toward the tower entrance, moving so swiftly that the surrounding professionals couldn’t stop him in time.
"Everyone, hold your positions!"
The Grand Duke’s voice came through the mouth of a white dove, adopting a cautious strategy while observing the battlefield, causing many professionals eager to pursue to halt. Only Raj, the Lizardman, disregarded everything and charged inside.
Inside the tower, as anticipated by those outside, the Demon King hadn’t rushed farther in but hid within, observing the pursuit of those following, planning a sneak attack.
This was its way of breaking the siege; if the professionals were prepared outside the tower to receive it, it would enter the tower’s interior, where advance setups were challenging to prepare, turning defense into offense.
However, this time the situation wasn’t ideal. Only a dark-skinned, stubble-faced human followed inside, and though it wasn’t satisfied, the Demon King had to burst forth with speed, spinning around with a counter-attack, clawing through the Lizardman’s weapon and his not-so-strong body.
Yet the Lizardman made no sound when killed, puzzling the Demon King who had defeated him with ease.
Then the Demon King realized that the Lizardman seemed unafraid of injury, with little reaction even to a piercing chest wound. On the contrary, in its final moments, the Lizardman savagely thumped it several times with the shattered machine gun, revealing that he possessed a daunting recovery ability, seemingly immune to death.
"Why hasn’t this human died?!"
The Demon King spoke, intending to withdraw the hand piercing Raj’s body to crush his head, when a lizard’s tail suddenly coiled around its body and arms with substantial binding force.
If anyone happened to observe, they would see that the Lizardman had transformed into a half-human, half-lizard state, with an additional thick tail, attempting to lock down the opponent with a deadly mentality.
"Die for me!"
The Demon King wouldn’t succumb to such measures. It immediately unleashed force throughout its body, expanding in size to tear the Lizardman apart. His chest was torn into halves, the tail ripped out bones, and his head was violently deformed and detached from his neck; by all appearances, he was utterly dead.
Yet as the Demon King turned to delve further into the tower, it noticed that most of the Lizardman’s body fragments "came to life," transforming into small lizards that swiftly converged into a whole living Lizardman once again. The Lizardman then retrieved a weapon from his space storage and charged defiantly at it.
"Does this human also have the power of immortality? Interesting..."
Seeing this, the Demon King realized how problematic this foe was. Attempting to resolve the issue with mere brute force now seemed unlikely, requiring significant time to discover the limits of his immortality.
Thus, it decided to spare the odd enemy for the time being, planning to retrieve its former equipment to deal with him later.
"My Sinful Greatsword can absorb souls to strengthen itself, and when the time comes, this human will undoubtedly perish."
With this thought, the Demon King stopped caring about the Lizardman and focused on pushing deeper into the tower.
