Global Game: I Can Choose Instance Rewards-Chapter 407 - 302: Each One’s Battle
The Ice Wind Attribute Palm Skill of the Wind Snow Tower’s master appeared quite ordinary and unremarkable. Under the onslaught of the Quicksand Sword Sect Leader, he could only keep defending without any effort to break free.
"This Sect Leader Luu indeed has the confidence to take down this Wind Snow Tower master, suppressing him to the point of suffocation right at the start. I believe Mr. Yang and I don’t need to intervene."
Having made his judgment, Wang Zhifan no longer closely followed the battle between the Quicksand Sword Sect Leader and the Wind Snow Tower master, focusing instead on his own task of cleaning up those fishing for troubles.
He sensed that Mr. Yang of Juyi Sect might share a similar mindset, busily dealing with some minor characters, causing quite a commotion. It was unclear if he was displaying his diligence or if his cultivation technique style was just like that.
As the cleanup of the Wind Snow Tower’s surface area proceeded steadily, the Broken Zither Sect’s Jiang, the abbot of the Dharma Zen Temple, and the Sect Leader of the Wuji Sect all successfully entered the hidden tunnel entrance beneath the Wind Snow Tower. There, they detected the anticipated strong scent of blood.
"This smell... It must be human blood... Indeed, the Wind Snow Tower has colluded with the Demon Sect!"
The tall, black-haired Sect Leader of the Wuji Sect casually brushed away the stone dust on his fist, having just used it to forcefully smash open the concealed entrance emitting the pungent stench of blood.
"Amitabha... Who knows how many innocent people have suffered at the hands of the Demon Sect... We must eradicate this evil completely."
The scrawny, unassuming old monk from Dharma Zen Temple showed a mournful expression. The Buddhist beads between his fingers started to roll gently, seemingly performing a spiritual ritual.
"Please remain silent, both of you, and allow me to scout ahead."
The middle-aged woman from the Broken Zither Sect, standing slightly behind the other two, urged them to be silent. Her expression was very cautious, her gaze sweeping not only through the dark tunnel ahead but also across other corners of the underground chamber. She then lightly plucked the strings of the long zither she was holding, producing a clear sound that penetrated deep into the dark tunnel, without any noticeable echo.
"The tunnel stretches for a hundred feet, connecting to a large space where there is a blood pool. Someone is sleeping in the blood pool."
After a brief silence, the expert from the Broken Zither Sect offered her assessment, allowing the other two to understand the situation without risking entry.
"A blood pool, you say? As expected, the Demon Sect is here cultivating the Blood Demon Skill... Truly audacious!"
Sect Leader Xiong of the Wuji Sect became inflamed with anger upon hearing this, yet he refrained from any impulsive actions, awaiting a strategy from the others on how to best collaborate to eliminate the demon.
"I have never faced a practitioner of the Blood Demon Skill, but I’ve heard that cultivating this skill requires prolonged immersion in the blood pool. After entering, we should first destroy the blood pool to impair its magic powers."
The old monk promptly offered a simple strategy.
"A two-pronged approach would be best! This demon, disturbed, remains asleep in the blood pool, indicating a critical phase in cultivation. We must seize the opportunity to strike while it’s vulnerable!"
The Broken Zither Sect’s Jiang pointed out a key issue: typically, such a loud disturbance from breaking open the entrance should have awakened even the deaf. Yet, her scouting revealed the individual inside remained asleep, indicating a significant clue.
"From my perspective, there must be hidden dangers within, deliberately luring us into carelessness."
Sect Leader Xiong considered a logical scenario; given they’ve been found out, the demon inside should have reacted. Anomalies like this are certainly traps.
"No... My zither’s sound tells me there’s no ambush, just the demon asleep in the pool."
Jiang of the Broken Zither Sect shook her head, confident in her findings, believing no one could conceal an ambush from her.
"Since Jiang has confirmed it, allow me to lead the way! Today I will not rest until this demon is vanquished!"
With this communication, Sect Leader Xiong ceased hesitating. Once he had dared to confront thousands of demon followers alone as they descended in the Demon Sect Flying Ship; now with favorable odds, he had even less reason to hold back.
"Infinite Golden Body Skill!"
With a swift activation of deep internal power, his body, previously no different from an ordinary robust man, suddenly radiated with a golden glow, constructing a seemingly thin yet extremely resilient defense.
Once the state was achieved, he proceeded into the tunnel without hesitation, simultaneously creating a path and providing slight illumination with the golden light emanating from his body. Though martial artists at his level could sense their surroundings even in complete darkness, a bit of light made spotting the enemy easier than total darkness.
"Please go ahead, Jiang; I shall cover the rear."
After Sect Leader Xiong entered the tunnel first, the old monk from Dharma Zen Temple let the middle-aged woman from Broken Zither Mountain take the second position, protecting her between the front and rear.
The middle-aged woman in fish-white silk clothing, though somewhat proud by nature, raised no objections nor showed reluctance. Promptly, she entered the tunnel with her long zither in hand, and the old monk was the last to enter.
Before entering, the old monk silently recited a Buddhist chant, and his worn, yellowing robe began to emit a faint glow of golden swastika symbols, whether due to his cultivation or the robe’s extraordinary nature remained uncertain.
Mere seconds later, the trio passed through the hundred-foot tunnel smoothly, entering a hidden space beneath the Wind Snow Tower’s rear mountain.
This space was just as Jiang of the Broken Zither Sect had described, vast, likely a natural cave, with a blood pool in the center that emitted a strong foul smell. Anyone able to see in the dim light, or with strong enough perception, would notice a figure submerged in the blood, its presence barely visible, along with faint breathing sounds.
"Demon! Die!"
Sect Leader Xiong was the first to approach the blood pool, also the first to attack, his method direct and decisive. With protective golden light surrounding him, he leapt high, aiming to crush the figure’s head with his feet.
The Broken Zither Sect’s Jiang, not far behind, halted at a distance from the pool, positioning both her hands on the strings of her diagonally held zither. As Sect Leader Xiong commenced his attack, her ten long fingers plucked the strings, sending an overwhelming wave of sonic energy towards the pool, aiming to obliterate it completely.
Lagging, the old monk from Dharma Zen Temple wasn’t idle. Golden swastikas danced around his robed body while the Buddhist beads in his hand dispersed, suspending in the air to form cryptic Sanskrit characters, dynamically shifting in response to his chanting, seemingly preparing a formidable Buddhist technique.
Ka-boom~
A massive explosion followed.
Among all the attacks, the destructive soundwave from the Broken Zither Sect’s Jiang initiated the quickest success. Almost instantly, the blood pool shattered, staining the walls of the underground space a deep red.
Strangely, however, the figure in the blood pool remained unaffected by the soundwave attack, still suspended in place, with its clothes intact.
Only when Sect Leader Xiong’s glowing golden feet were about to crush the figure’s head did it finally react.
The figure exploded into countless droplets of blood, evading the attack, and reformed ten meters away into the shape of a sinister man, his eyes coldly glaring at the intruders.
