Global Game: Developing a Knight Clan-Chapter 83 - 82: Player Roundup, The Eastern Realm War
[Comment Section]
McKorion: "I don’t know what happened, but the Chief Player is seriously lucky—he’s like True Game’s favorite son! Forget about gaining a Tier a day, now he can even hide his videos?! So can someone tell me, besides the Chief Player, can other players hide their videos too?"
YXuanShuaiY: "@above, he’s the only one. No exceptions."
WastedAYear: "Everyone, settle down. If you ask me, after that last video from the Master of the Demon Dragon, the Giant Dragon Player has to be Tier Five already. That much is obvious. This new privilege is definitely because he tiered up. He’s so high-profile that if I could hide my videos, I’d do it in a heartbeat."
"But as for what happened during the Giant Dragon Player’s latest Inference, I think there are at least five other Player videos you can check out for reference. I’m dropping the links here, help yourselves!"
ThreeMealsIsEnough: "Very good, very powerful. I’m back after watching the linked videos! I have to say, our Chief Player really pulled a huge stunt this time! Haha, I’m dying! He’s taken the whole ’con artist’ playstyle to a whole new level!"
BetterToChaseTheBeacon: "Holy hell, the Eagle Kingdom erupted in civil war! That Giant Dragon Player is one sly bastard. He somehow managed to bewitch a Cardinal, and now the entire Eagle Kingdom is practically his personal backyard! I’m dropping the link, everyone, go watch it now!"
"..."
Lince read through the top few trending comments, lost in thought.
Then, he too clicked on the links.
The page loaded, and just as expected, he was looking at another Player’s video.
And as it happened, this Player was from the Eagle Kingdom.
What was more of a coincidence was that this person was located in the Northern Duchy and held a rather unusual status.
He was actually a Knight’s Follower to a Viscount.
In the video, the Player’s life at the start was a monotonous routine: back and forth between the Viscount’s knight training grounds and Meditation, giving him the air of an Ascetic.
He was taciturn, focused only on increasing his own power.
But then, a little over two hundred days into the Inference, everything changed.
The Eagle Kingdom’s civil war broke out!
The video then cut to a new scene. Perhaps because he’d chosen a conservative playstyle, this Player wasn’t conscripted for the campaign.
But that couldn’t stop disaster from striking out of the blue!
The Viscount was defeated on the battlefield and fled back to his castle, but less than two days later, a detachment from the Kingdom Army arrived to attack.
The Viscount had intended to surrender, but the noble leading the Kingdom Army force merely snorted and launched an all-out assault without another word.
And so, unfortunately, the entire Viscount Castle was reduced to ruins within two hours.
As for the Player, his character died unable to rest in peace.
Lying amidst a pile of bodies, the dazed and resentful look in his eyes was still clearly visible.
In the final moments, the character’s replica even silently mouthed something.
Whatever it was, it was probably some nasty curse!
Lince could only look on helplessly at this.
’Could he be blamed for this?’
’It had nothing to do with him!’
’The Player could only blame his own bad luck for happening to start his Descent in the Northern Duchy.’
As it turned out, that wasn’t the only case. Lince followed another link and watched the video of a different failed Player.
This time, the protagonist was a two-horned warhorse!
That’s right, a non-Human Player who ended up as a mount!
When Lince first saw the video, he almost lost it!
The two-horned warhorse clearly had a special Bloodline; its power had even reached Tier Three!
An outstanding warhorse like that naturally had a powerful master.
Moreover, the warhorse Player’s master wasn’t on the side of the rebels, but was a Count from the Southern Duchy, fighting for the Kingdom Army.
The grand army marched out, and the Count led his soldiers into a decisive battle on the main front for the Kingdom Army!
The sheer scale of the scene was enough to get even Lince’s blood pumping.
Countless fireballs, Wind Blades, earth spikes, Frost, and all sorts of other Magic flew wildly across the battlefield.
At the height of the most intense clash, the sky grew dark with clouds as massive bolts of lightning rained down, throwing soldiers and their mounts into chaos!
A High Tier. It had to be a High Tier Mage.
Only a High Tier Mage could possibly cause such a massive change in the weather.
’Even I, a Tier Five Rock Steel Giant, can only cast spells within a small area. Changing the weather isn’t something a Middle Tier being is capable of.’
’There’s an insurmountable gulf between High Tier and Middle Tier.’
’This battlefield made that perfectly clear!’
Unfortunately, that spectacle lasted for only about ten minutes!
Yes, very unfortunately, during a charge, the Player playing the two-horned warhorse was torn to shreds by several massive Wind Blades that suddenly materialized in front of the formation.
The Count managed to escape by abandoning his mount and leaping high into the air, but alas, his poor warhorse wasn’t so lucky!
The video ended on a freeze-frame, where the Count could be seen looking at the mangled remains of his warhorse with a clear expression of pained loss.
Clearly, the Count had been genuinely fond of his mount!
But in the moment the horse’s head was sent flying, the video froze on the Player’s perspective—looking at the old Count, its eyes filled with confusion and resentment.
That image... how to put it? It had the distinct feel of someone who’d just been callously dumped by a scumbag.
Seeing this, Lince truly couldn’t help but burst out laughing!
He was a man of professional discipline; he normally wouldn’t laugh at anything.
But this Player’s video was just too hilarious!!!
A non-Human character, and a mount at that! Who could you even complain to?!
The moment he imagined this Player, after every Consciousness Descent, having to put on a pitiful act for the Count just to beg for tier-up fodder, Lince felt himself losing control again!
!!!
The mental image was just too vivid!!!
Lince felt like he was laughing away all the psychological aftereffects of his role. A great victory for his returning humanity!
It was almost too painful to watch!
And in the scrolling comments on the video, countless real-world "armchair" Players were probably laughing their heads off!
"What a huge loss! Why didn’t I find this Player’s videos sooner! This is just too good!"
"I’m a tough guy in real life, but in the game, I’m a total sub, begging to be ridden and fed! Damn, have you no shame?"
"Damn! If I’d rolled a warhorse, I would’ve killed myself immediately!!! Are you kidding me? I’ve never even been on top in my life, and now I’m supposed to get ridden in a game? Who could stand that?! Believe me, I’d give a live performance of ’Devour the Master’ right then and there!"
"You couldn’t stand it? Well, this guy clearly can! Haha!"
"What’s so funny? Stop laughing! This is for the sake of Extraordinary Power! What’s wrong with getting ridden a little?! ...Haha, okay, I can’t help it. Gotta add a ’jk’ to be safe."
"..."
It had to be said, this mount-Player’s video was hilarious!
It was trending pretty high at the moment!
It was a shame he wasn’t a streamer! The entertainment value was off the charts!
Moreover, Lince had to admit, the True Game developers really knew a thing or two about presentation!
This video was on the verge of going viral beyond the game’s community!
He watched several videos in a row.
In short, these were all Players in the Eagle Kingdom.
There were humans, mounts, and even Magic Pets!
The only limit was your imagination, not what the Players could become!
So far, the audience had found six such videos.
After all, screening through just over 5,600 Players was much easier than the previous 100,000.
Of the six Players, five had died in the Eagle Kingdom’s civil war. Only one survived.
And this Player was quite interesting as well.
He turned out to be a ’youth program seed candidate’ from a local branch of the Truth Church.
He was in the south and had been taken into custody by the local Lord right from the start.
Once the war was over, he was safe!
He spent the entire Inference period imprisoned, essentially coasting through the whole event.
But the upside was that he was never in any danger.
And this Player was someone Lince really couldn’t figure out.
The character still looked like a child, and his power was still Tierless.
’It’s already been four days of the game, hasn’t it?’
’What kind of strategy is this?’
’At a time when most Players have already reached Entry Tier, this guy is still playing around in ’kindergarten’?’
’Is it bad luck, or some special kind of playstyle?’
Lince couldn’t make sense of this Player’s situation, and the video didn’t provide any specific information about his strategy.
Since he couldn’t figure it out, Lince decided to ignore it.
In any case, the civil war in the Eagle Kingdom had led to the deaths of quite a few Players.
And that wasn’t all.
The number of Players eliminated this time was definitely not small.
The real hot topic of this Inference’s videos was the great war in the Eastern Realm between the Elf Empire and the Human Alliance Army.
Even by the end of the Inference videos, the great war between the two Races had not yet concluded.
They were currently in a standoff.
From the game video of an Elf Player, it was clear the fierce battle between the two sides was on a far grander scale than the civil war in the Eagle Kingdom.
After all, Elves were a Race of natural-born spellcasters.
So, during the large-scale battles against the Human Alliance Army, the sky would alternate between hailing and being swept by biting frost.
But the powerful experts of the Three Great Human Empires were no pushovers either.
When these powerhouses made their move, there was absolutely no room for ordinary people to participate!
Soldiers fought soldiers, and generals fought generals.
The strong fought high in the heavens, while the weak clashed desperately on the ground below!
Both sides had a tacit understanding, and neither used large-scale, destructive Magic against the opposing ground troops.
Thus, after three rounds of challenges and a protracted struggle, both the Human Alliance Army and the Elf Empire had suffered immense casualties!
Ultimately, the two sides entered a standoff.
The Elf Empire demanded that the Human Countries cease all slave-raiding activities.
In response, the Human Empires demanded that the Elf Empire guarantee free trade between the two Races along the border, or else there was nothing to discuss.
Having demands and being able to talk was, naturally, a good start.
But the main reason things had moved in this direction was that both Races were worried that an escalated conflict would allow the surrounding Alien Races to take advantage of the situation.
For example, while the Human Alliance Army and the Elf Empire were locked in their standoff, the northern Beastman Empire was already stirring restlessly.
And in the south, both the Elf Empire and the Human Race faced the covetous gaze of the coastal Sea Race.
Therefore, neither side truly dared to continue the fight, no matter what.
So, both sides had now entered a phase of tense, back-and-forth negotiations.
Both sides clearly wanted to end the conflict quickly, but they each needed a suitable pretext to placate the sentiments within their own Races.
Thus, the matters on the negotiating table were not something that could be resolved overnight.
After watching many Player videos from the war in the Eastern Realm, Lince had a premonition.
’This time, quite a few Players in the Eastern Realm might reach Tier Four the next time they enter the game!’
’They must be getting a ton of ’experience’ from this war!’
’So, will there be titles awarded for runner-up elite Players?’
’There should be, right?’
Lince fell into deep thought, murmuring to himself as he watched the raging storm outside his window:
"Faced with the sudden changes in the real world, having more powerful Players might actually be a good thing."
