Global Game: Developing a Knight Clan-Chapter 152 - 139: Tracking the Giant Demon Fleet, the Silver Dragon Race’s Determination, and an Audience
"How interesting. We just parted ways on the battlefield a few days ago, didn’t we?"
Crimson gave a peculiar smile and glanced back at the group of Little Sub-dragons beside him.
At once, the dozen or so Middle-Low Tier Little Sub-dragons began to file off the mountaintop, driving away all nearby Demon Beasts.
Angelina offered a rare smile and nodded.
"Indeed. It has only been three days."
"But it was enough time for me to make a round trip to the Empire."
Amos contemplated the Human Race Dragon Descendant before him, then spoke.
"Let’s dispense with the pleasantries. Speak, junior. What business do you have with us?"
"I doubt you came purely for a friendly chat. If this is about the Silver Lion Duchy’s territory, then I’m afraid we have nothing to discuss."
"For the sake of our shared heritage as a Dragon Species, we can pretend you were never here."
The Earth Dragon wasn’t sure of Angelina’s purpose, but like Crimson, he had a vague suspicion.
But he needed to confirm it.
That was why he now spoke with uncharacteristic impatience, testing her with a dismissive tone.
However, Angelina said nothing at all.
She simply took an item from her waist and, with her Magic Power, sent it flying before Amos and Crimson.
"What is this?"
Amos and Crimson stared at the scale that had suddenly appeared before them.
The two dragons were stunned for a moment before their expressions abruptly turned grave.
"Did Silver Dragon Camina send you?" Crimson immediately demanded, his gaze fixed on Angelina.
"Yes!"
Without confirming or denying the name, Angelina nodded and continued,
"I believe you two, as devotees of the Dragon Race Code, know the meaning of this scale far better than I."
"This is Edie, the daughter of Saint Camilla."
Angelina introduced the Little Silver Dragon, Edie, to Amos and Crimson.
Crimson, however, was blunt. He glanced at the Little Silver Dragon and said,
"This little one? We can tell who she is at a glance. No introduction necessary."
"Speak. Since Camilla sent you with a chest scale of the Dragon Race to seek aid, as fellow guardians of the Dragon Race Code, we are obligated to offer our unconditional help."
"However, we belong to different factions at the moment. If she is approaching the end of her life and wants us to shelter this descendant, we can certainly help. As for anything else, we’ll need to know the specifics of the matter before discussing the laws of the Code."
Given the Red Dragon’s directness, Angelina, with her own cool and aloof nature, was just as frank.
"Very well. Then I’ll be direct."
"Sirs, Saint Camilla wishes to know the true identity of the Black Dragon who appeared on the battlefield three days ago."
"In the name of the Dragon Race, in the name of honor, if the existence of this Black Dragon is the long-cherished wish of all Dragon Species who follow the Code, then Saint Camilla will defend it with all her might!"
"And I, Angelina, though not a follower of the Code, swear in my name as an elder of the Lambert Family that I will aid Her Highness Camilla in fulfilling this wish!"
Amos and Crimson exchanged a glance upon hearing Angelina’s words.
Amos shook his head helplessly, while Crimson slowly reined in his killing intent toward Angelina.
"Hmph. So you really did come for this."
"But it makes sense. Silver Dragon Camilla went so far as to tear out a chest scale."
"Since Camilla chose not to act against you... it seems she trusts you a great deal."
"But that doesn’t mean we do. So speak, junior. Give us a reason to trust you."
Angelina seemed to have anticipated this. Facing Crimson’s malevolent gaze, she stated nonchalantly,
"I don’t need your trust."
"Because you two must have keenly felt the awkward position of the Sub-dragon Species on this continent during the last incident."
"Therefore, I trust that with your ancient wisdom, you can discern the truth of my words for yourselves. Forcing an explanation would be meaningless, wouldn’t it?"
Crimson burst out laughing.
"For a member of the Dragon Species, you’re a worthy junior. You haven’t brought shame to the Dragon Race."
"So, I imagine you know our decision now, don’t you? What, then, are your plans, junior? And how will you help us achieve the long-cherished wish of all the Code’s followers?"
Angelina’s face remained a stony mask. She said nothing, simply drawing the silver-white long sword from her waist with cold composure.
"By the sword alone."
"Of course, that will also depend on the arrangements made by the Saint and you two."
"No, to be precise, it depends on the arrangements of that revered existence."
Amos and Crimson exchanged another glance.
Crimson said no more. Instead, he couldn’t help but look at the Dragon Descendant before him with appreciation.
A person of few words and ruthless action—that was the kind of Dragon Descendant Crimson appreciated.
Amos, for his part, mused for a moment before saying slowly,
"This matter is of grave importance. We have seen the determination of both you and Camilla, junior."
"However, the specific arrangements for you must be decided by His Majesty."
"Besides, I imagine you won’t be without your own doubts until you see His Majesty for yourselves."
At this point, Amos finally sighed and made a decision on his own.
He shifted his body, and from the edge of his lowered carapace—from within what looked like a pitch-black, enormous cavern—something was suddenly tossed out!
No, not a thing.
It was a Tier Three Forest Wolf.
This creature served as the "liaison" between Lince, Amos, and Crimson, and had been living a carefree life lately.
A mere Tier Three, yet it could come and go from the mountain range as it pleased, even escorted by High Tier Magical Beasts.
Even more, it slept under Amos’s protection. This treatment had made the not-so-intelligent Forest Wolf quite full of itself.
While it didn’t dare to truly abuse its borrowed authority, simply enjoying the services of Middle-High Tier Magical Beasts on a whim was thrilling enough.
It had even started wondering recently if it could ask the big turtle to find it a few Middle Tier she-wolves to... enjoy.
And just now, it had been right in the middle of a sweet dream.
But a sudden tumble shattered it to pieces.
The Forest Wolf was completely dazed.
Thrown awake, the creature looked around in a daze and saw four pairs of eyes staring directly at it.
However, before the creature could shake off its confusion, Amos’s voice entered its mind via Spiritual transmission.
"Little one, contact His Majesty. Tell him Amos has something to report."
The Forest Wolf shook its head, instantly becoming alert. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
It still felt immense pressure under the scrutinizing gazes of Amos and Crimson.
Not to mention the unfamiliar Giant Dragon and the human who looked like she was not to be trifled with on the other side.
So, the Forest Wolf immediately nodded in a flurry.
In the next instant, the Forest Wolf shook its body and closed its eyes.
Soon, the Forest Wolf opened its eyes and let out a joyful, low growl at Amos. Amos understood.
’His Majesty is watching us now.’
’This ability to watch another world by relying on the power of a contract is truly awe-inspiring.’
’After all, this ability is incredibly similar to how the Deities watch the mortal world through their avatars.’
Therefore, in the eyes of Amos and the Red Dragon, while Lince was not yet a god, his abilities already possessed some of the might of the Deities.
Amos didn’t dwell on it. He immediately began to speak slowly to the empty sky.
He briefly recounted the matter of Silver Dragon Camilla and the Dragon Descendant Angelina.
The process left both Angelina and Silver Dragon Edie astonished.
But fortunately, neither of them said anything, instead standing silently with grave expressions, awaiting the final outcome.
And so, after more than ten minutes, once Amos had finished his account,
He even stated plainly the reasons why Camilla and Angelina could be trusted. Finally, the Forest Wolf on the ground suddenly yipped twice at Amos.
Seeing this, Amos raised his head and looked at Angelina.
"His Majesty is aware of your situation. The outcome is favorable."
"Now then, I will arrange for you to have an audience with His Majesty."
"Go. Further talk is pointless. It is better for you to see for yourself. I believe the result will not disappoint you, junior. In fact, one could even say this is a great fortune for your Lambert Silver Dragon Race family."
Amos said no more. With a turn of his thoughts, he summoned a Tier Five little turtle.
"Vittorio, you will now take these two to have an audience with His Majesty. Remember, no mischief when you’re there."
The Little Earth Dragon, summoned in a daze, left yelping with excitement.
Finally, under the watchful eyes of Amos and Crimson, the Little Earth Dragon, guided and protected by a Tier Eight Flying Demon Beast, led Angelina and Silver Dragon Edie toward the Underground Space.
