Chapter 204: Chapter 200: Even A Thousand Gods Will Fail

Kais looked around. The only thing that separated him from the rest was his unyielding loyalty to Solia. To him, it didn’t matter if he died as long as Solia was in his last breath.

The heretic god knew that. That’s why, instead of killing him, he wanted to destroy the only thing Kais loved in the godforsaken world.

Despite all the bravado he had shown, he knew he would lose. The one before him might be a heretic, but it was still a god. How could a mortal defeat a god?

Still, Kais took a deep breath and threw a punch at Blaze. The latter merely smirked before hitting back with a punch of his own. The two fists collided like particles in a particle collider.

An intense amount of energy shot out of the point of contact, hitting everyone around them. The monstrous power from Kais’s fist took Blaze aback, but in a good way.

I have found an excellent vessel!

Meanwhile, Blaze’s current body had been heavily modified through his cellular rework. Kais was more or less on par with it in terms of raw strength. It made Blaze wonder how strong Kais would get once his body got modified to his needs.

The black swirling patterns on Blaze’s body reacted, expanding his muscles for even more strength in his fists. As their fists collided over and over, small craters formed under their feet.

After seven punches, Kais jumped back. His hands were shaking like crazy. If he countered another punch, his fingers would’ve shattered because, unlike him, the god before him was literally getting stronger after each punch as if the hits were siphoning Kais’s strength into him.

"Why the shocked face?" Blaze smirked, rolling his shoulders. "Did you think you could overpower me?"

Kais didn’t respond. A combatant’s mental state was crucial in battle. Everyone knew that. That’s why, usually, an opponent would try to rile someone up to force them into making erratic decisions.

But why does this god need to use such petty tactics?

That was the first thought in Kais’s head. Blaze was clearly much stronger than him. It was to the point that anyone with eyes could say the god was toying with a mortal.

If so, then why did the god want to rile him up?

The answer was simple.

The explosive strength Blaze showed was temporary.

As Kais thought about it, the more it made sense.

A god couldn’t infinitely possess a mortal’s body. Even if they did, using such an ungodly amount of strength would definitely break the mortal body apart.

As a god, the Decay knew about it, and that’s why he was riling him up to make mistakes.

I just need to hold out. As long as I do, the god’s body will fall apart, and I can claim victory.

Kais clenched his fist and held on to that thought as a drowning man would to a straw.

His previously defeated guy persona disappeared completely. After all, he had found a way to win.

Looking at his aching hands, Kais called upon the thousand gods he had devoted his entire life to in hopes of receiving some strength. Blaze didn’t stop him, partially because it was amusing and partially because he wanted to see if any of those gods were actually real.

Kais lashed out, wanting to force Blaze’s body to crack first. Blaze found it odd as he thought it would be the opposite, with Kais wanting to last long and not just break himself. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

So, you’ve taken the bait. Good.

Blaze smirked and kept dodging the strikes. It was weird as Kais thought the heretic would go all out given his superior strength and agility. Yet, Blaze never attacked him.

"Is this all?" Blaze mumbled, grabbing the man’s hand. "I thought your thousand gods would give you their blessing, make you stronger. But it seems they have only made you weaker."

Blaze abruptly changed his defensive game plan and threw a punch at Kais. The latter barely managed to dodge, but as he did, the building behind him burst open into shards.

Splinters went flying in all directions, impaling and even killing a few of the Solians. That was a glimpse of the strength of a god.

Their deaths filled Kais with regret. If he hadn’t dodged the strike, then the building wouldn’t have exploded, leading to such a crisis.

"A thousand gods couldn’t protect you, and you couldn’t protect them," Blaze smiled. "It is quite ironic, don’t you think?"

Kais could hold his anger back anymore and lunged at Blaze. The man had forgotten all his plans and began throwing random punches.

You knew not to fall for provocations, and still did?

Blaze thought, dodging another punch. Honestly, he was a bit surprised and disappointed by Kais’s reaction as he had reminded Blaze of himself somewhat.

While Blaze was lost in his thoughts, one of Kais’s punches grazed his cheek. Blaze involuntarily grabbed it and was about to crush it before he got his senses under control and kicked Kais away.

"You almost succeeded," Blaze scoffed, wiping the blood off his cheek.

Kais smiled back, rubbing his wrist that had been nearly snapped seconds ago.

The Solian hadn’t lost his cool, but merely faked it. The man had already realized that the heretic god didn’t want him dead.

So, as a final screw you, Kais acted like a maniac, hoping to drop his usefulness before Blaze and perhaps even get himself killed while he was at it.

He almost succeeded, but Blaze snapped back to reality a moment later.

"You know," Blaze mumbled, tucking his hands behind his back. "I can make you a god. A god stronger than all of your thousand gods combined. All you need to do is to surrender yourself to me like countless people already have."

"Sorry to disappoint you," Kais shot back. "But I have no intention of turning into a god or a lapdog for you. So how about you just kill me and get this over with?"
