Global Awakening: Infinite Gift Pack System-Chapter 112: Map Investment
Kai didn’t have any more Survivor Medals or even usable Energy Cores, so the Discount Vouchers were basically useless for now.
However, he could still purchase items using his Experience Points, and that alone made his heart race.
He forced himself to stay calm, controlling the excitement inside him.
The EMP grenade was tempting, but the price tag of 10,000 EXP was far beyond what he was willing to pay.
He shook his head. "It’s good but too expensive... I’ll pass for now."
Then, his gaze shifted to the box of preserved spices. The box was marked at 1,000 EXP, and Kai believed that it was a very reasonable price.
As a matter of fact, it seemed to be a very cheap product!
Thankfully, he had eliminated a large number of mutants earlier, so he had plenty of surplus points. More importantly, spices meant flavor. It was a way to improve their meals, and it might even help boost morale.
"This is worth it," he muttered.
Then his eyes moved to the rolled scroll tied with leather. The note beneath it said it was a map and marked the price at 4,000 EXP.
He couldn’t see the details inside, but the cost alone told him it was something extraordinary.
"It has to be important. But this is the map of this place, right? Not a random location?" Kai asked as he was seriously considering purchasing it now.
However, the Gene Trader didn’t answer.
Still, Kai didn’t want to let it go. After all, he believed that the Gene Trader wouldn’t sell a useless map. Even if it was a Treasure Map instead of the regional map, he didn’t mind at all!
’Am I going to level down because of this?’
The thought gnawed at him, but he knew how this piece of paper could give him what he needed to be at an advantage against the A.I. Army... 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
He had a feeling that it was worth the risk. Unlike Diego and Santiago, whose information had been unreliable, this was a direct trade from the Gene Trader. He could definitely trust it!
Kai straightened his back and spoke firmly. "I’ll take the spices first."
Immediately, a system notification appeared...
[ Instruction: Hold the item and touch the purple crystal to complete payment. ]
’So that’s how it works.’
Kai picked up the box of spices. He held it tightly, then reached out with his other hand and touched the glowing crystal. The moment his fingers brushed the surface, a sudden drain surged through him.
[ 1,000 Experience Points deducted. ]
[ Current EXP Balance: 3,450 ]
"Oh? I can see it clearly here." Kai muttered in surprise. After all, the visible Experience Points disappeared after reaching Level 10. This time, however, the Experience Points could finally be seen!
In any case, the items selected didn’t go to his inventory. It means that he must carry the box of spices with him, unless he wants to use his available Inventory Slots.
Still, Kai was already satisfied with this.
Next, he reached for the scroll. His fingers trembled slightly as he touched the crystal again.
[ 4,000 Experience Points deducted. ]
Then another message appeared...
[ Level Down: From Level 17 to Level 16 ]
[ Attribute Loss: Spirit -1, Health -5 ]
[ Adjustment Applied. ]
[ Current EXP Balance: 14,450 ]
"Oh well..." Kai expected this much, but he didn’t mind.
’It’s actually 15,000 experience points to reach Level 17, huh... No wonder it was so hard to level up.’
Perhaps, if not for the numerous Mutants who had attacked them, he wouldn’t have had enough Experience Points at all.
"Ahhh... Mutants? Wait--"
Kai froze as he realized something...
Perhaps, he should be asking Russel and the others to trigger the traps to attract mutants, so that he could get more Experience Points!
But as he reached this thought, he suddenly recalled the mutants attacking their New Haven-45...
’Don’t tell me...’
Kai straightened his back as he realized that there might have been a Gene Trader near their base, and perhaps, one of their residents unknowingly entered its territory, forcing the mutants to come out and attack them!
"That explains their sudden appearance!" Kai spoke up in realization.
It seemed that he would have to search the surroundings of the shelter once he was able to return.
For now, however, his attention turned to the map...
Kai carefully untied the strip of leather holding the scroll together.
His hands trembled slightly as he unrolled it...
At first glance, he realized it wasn’t a world map, nor a continental chart of the Versailles Continent.
Instead, the map only covered the Mavis Republic as written on the scroll.
It was his first time learning about the name of this land.
In any case, the next thing he noticed was the southern edge of the map. Apparently, it was marked by the sea, which meant Kai and his group were currently at the lower part of the Versailles Continent.
Soon, his attention was drawn to the legends and notes scattered across the map.
Each symbol carried a meaning that could be found at the bottom right of the map.
The first one he noticed was the head of an android, sketched in sharp lines.
According to the legend, this symbol represented an A.I. City.
Without a doubt, they were massive strongholds of machine soldiers, places no ordinary survivor could hope to enter.
Next was the golden star. The note beside it identified it as a top-class human shelter!
But Kai’s heart sank when he realized there was only one golden star on the entire map. Just one sanctuary of that caliber existed in the Republic of Mavis.
He continued scanning.
There were red skulls, denoting danger zones where mutant hordes, scavengers, or lawless people could gather in overwhelming numbers. And scattered across the parchment were blue droplets, symbols for clean water sources, rivers, and reservoirs.
Then, at this point, Kai found the area called Haven Shelters in the eastern territory of the map!
’Ohh... We should be around here...’
Kai immediately knew that their previous Haven-45 Shelter and other Haven Shelters were around this area!
He wanted to guess the rough location of the New Haven-45!
But then his gaze shifted again... He just realized that within the same eastern territory, there were four android heads marked close to one another.
It means that four A.I. Cities were actually surrounding the Haven Region!
