Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle-Chapter 605: The Bunker
The Dullahans were obviously unafraid of the Armored Giants despite the difference in their sizes.
They started swinging their swords deep into a Zombie's leg. Unfortunately, despite their bravery, the Armored Giants were simply too tough for them… The huge Zombie kicked them to the wall, leaving the swords stabbed on its leg.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Roar!
The Dullahans were only disoriented for a brief moment before calling their steeds once again to attack the Armored Giant Zombies.
Then, the battlefield became chaotic as all undead summons started attacking the Giant Zombies to stop their advance!
Shane observed it all, analyzing their weaknesses, tactics, and opportunities that he might be able to exploit.
'But still… I can't see the Necromancer… Where is he?' Shane curiously muttered as he confirmed that there was no hidden presence at the entrance of the bunker.
The Necromancer should be emitting some sort of deathly energy around it and quite easy to notice within his three-hundred-meter range of perception.
However, despite that range and Cloud's assistance, he couldn't find the Necromancer.
Because of this, Shane couldn't help but think that the Necromancer wasn't here at all and these Undead Summons were just acting on their own or through a set of commands that the Necromancer had arranged beforehand.
To be honest, he actually wanted to assassinate the Necromancer once he appeared. After all, if the summoner was killed, all its summoned creatures should return to where they came from. It would be a lot easier if that could happen.
However, the Necromancer seemed to be aware of its weakness and decided not to go out anymore.
'Is he using some sort of magic to hide or observe the battle from a distance?' Shane mused as he recalled that in the Fairy Realm, the Druids seemed to be capable of using the Plant Eye spell, where they could summon their eyes in certain plants to scout or observe things secretly.

Perhaps, the Necromancer had something similar, allowing it to observe everything without showing.
However, as he was thinking of supporting the Armored Giant Zombie to force out the Necromancer, something unexpected happened.
The bunker's heavy steel doors groaned open, and a figure emerged. This figure was cloaked in a Dark Magician robe with skeletal fingers gripping a staff…
"A lich?" Shane was shocked as it wasn't mentioned by Team 5. It means that actually failed to force the Necromancer to show this trump card!
Soon, the Lich raised his staff, and the earth split open!
In just a moment, skeletal hands clawed their way out to the surface.
But these weren't ordinary undead.
They have cybernetically enhanced ghouls—their limbs were replaced with blades, and their spines even seemed like they were made of hydraulic cabling—surged forward. They were modified ghouls and Shane couldn't even comment due to his shock.
"So that's his trump card." Shane muttered after some time.
He realized that the Necromancer running this Wild Shelter was not simple. It wouldn't even be surprising if this was actually the toughest or strongest Wild Shelter out there.
Whoever he was, he was definitely building an undead-armored division and would become a huge threat to them sooner or later.
Then, Shane watched as the Giant Zombies roared as the ghouls scaled their bodies, hacking at their limbs without care for their lives...
Soon, one giant collapsed as its knees were shredded by the blades of the Ghouls!
Another one also staggered blindly as its eyes were gouged out by the clawed cybernetic hands of Ghouls.
"What a scary bunch… They look so hungry." Shane muttered as he watched the battle unfold. The modified ghouls were unstoppable and if these creatures were actually summoned when the Team 5 attempted to raid this place, Shane was sure that they would not be going back to the shelter as they would become food to these creatures.
Nonetheless, as the battle continued, the Necromancer's forces weren't unscathed.
Three turrets had been ripped from the walls, crushed underfoot by the Armored Giant Zombies.
Half the Skeleton Knights were splintered into bone shards, including some Skeleton Warriors…
Furthermore, the Dullahan's warhorses had been reduced to ashes after being crushed as well.
Of course, Shane wasn't complaining about this as it was a perfect moment of mutual destruction.
"Go… Destroy each other." Shane muttered as he watched the battle continue.
He let the Armored Giants cripple the defenses further… He let the Lich exhaust its Magic and the Ghouls it could summon as he wanted to ensure the Necromancer's strength wouldn't be at its peak once he sneaked inside the bunker.

Thud! Thud! Thud!
After ten more minutes, the Armored Giants continued to crash as many cybernetic ghouls as it could while also tanking the turrets firing wildly on its body…
At this time, the Skeleton Warriors were also being crushed, and their numbers were quickly dwindling.
But Shane's focus had narrowed to one objective: getting inside before the Lich could seal the door again.
'Alright… Let's do this…' Shane mused as he knew that it was finally time…
Soon, he reached into his inventory and pulled out one of his Legendary Items.
[ Zombie Mask ( Legendary ): A scary and realistic mask that resembles a terrifying zombie's face. It can be used by the user to disguise themselves as a zombie and to scare or prank others. Veil of Oblivion ( Passive ): Envelop the surroundings in an invisible shroud of mystical aura that clouds the minds of zombies, rendering the wearer invisible to their undead senses. ]
Needless, to say, Shane planned to use the Undying Metamorphosis effect and use the Veil of Oblivion effect to get ignored by the Armored Giant Zombie even for a little.
With a swift motion, he pressed it against his face.
As soon as he spent 200 Spirit Points, the transformation started…
His skin grayed and cracked, his veins darkened with deathly energy. His eyes also changed as a sickly green hue appeared in them.
To any observer, he was just another high-tier undead, similar to a Lurker or Hunter Zombie. Just powerful enough to roam freely among the Lich's forces.
"Time to join the party," Shane muttered with a voice that sounded so deep and evil.
With only one Armored Giant Zombie still standing, Shane had to act fast since its body was already riddled with wounds and seemed like it was about to fall.
'With my current Agility and Strength, this should be quite easy…' Shane thought as he rushed forward.
Using his Phantasm Rush, he arrived at the back of the Necromancer's forces and tore through a Skeleton Mage, snapping its spine with his bare hands!
Crash!
Then, a couple of ghouls noticed his action and immediately switched their targets!
However, Hayden easily crushed a cyber-ghoul's skull, making sure to avoid damaging its mechanical limbs since those could be valuable loot later.
The Lich just looked at the new high-tier Zombie appearing on the battlefield. It was surprising but not too difficult to handle. It didn't suspect a thing.
The Lich's hollow eyes just swept over the carnage Shane had started. Then, it chanted an incantation.
Soon, the bunker's doors began to slide shut… It was to ensure that the High-Tier Zombie wouldn't be able to accidentally escape or enter the bunker.
'It's closing… What a fast reaction…'
Seeing this, Shane had seconds left to act.
Crash!
As soon as he destroyed another modified Ghoul, Shane swiftly acted as if he was planning to crash another Zombie.
However, instead of that, he used Armored Dash!
Shane's body rushed forward. His body suddenly felt like it was encased in a shell as he slipped through the closing gap of the bunker's entrance.
Crush! There was a huge ice lance that had appeared by Shane as the Lich actually realized his plan at that brief moment!
Boom!
It was just in time as the doors sealed behind him…
"Haa~" Shane exhaled as he confirmed that he was safe.
The Lich had almost caught him. Perhaps, if he didn't use his Armored Dash just now, the Lich might've frozen his whole body!
'That's close! Did it even chant? How is that possible' Shane was shocked as the moment that he cast his Armored Dash, he was sure that the Lich was focusing on the Giant Zombie.
However, the moment he aimed to enter the bunker, it felt as if the Lich noticed it beforehand and cast a spell to stop him…
'What an incredible Lich…' Shane muttered as he looked inside the bunker.
