Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle-Chapter 1069: The Chambers
’Interesting...’ Shane mused as he let Cloud analyze the papers in his hands. Unfortunately, the paper was too damaged, and they could barely get any information about this building.
Well, it had been here for a very long time, so it wasn’t that surprising if he thought about it
Still, Cloud was able to analyse not just the papers but also the surroundings, and soon, it compiled the information for his view.
[ Icarus Ascension Complex ]
[ Security Systems: Offline.
Guard Presence: None detected.
Zombie Activity: None detected within perimeter.
Hazard Warning: One restricted sector registers anomalous readings. Entry not advised until further preparation.
Facility Access: Lounge, Administrator Office, Research Wing (partial), Pantry, Generator Room, Sanitation Block, Medical Bay, Security Station,
Restricted Access: Sub‑Basement Labs, Cryogenic Chamber, Vault Sector Omega, Director’s Office, Containment Wing, Ascension Chamber
[ Note: Facility generator offline. Manual activation required. ]
This information wasn’t system-generated. They were Cloud’s gathered information through Cloud’s ability to scan the surroundings and various information provided by the documents they had collected.
Soon, Cloud also pointed at the evacuation tunnel, but apparently, it had already collapsed and could not be used again.
Cloud then continued.
[ Administrator logs corrupted. Partial recovery might be possible in the terminals if the generator is restored. ]
"Then we’ll find the generator," Shane said.
They moved deeper, passing through what looked like a pantry.
There were Shelves lined with sealed containers that stood untouched. Most were labeled with codes like Nutrient Batch 47, Protein Gel Reserve, Hydration Capsules, and many others.
The team marveled at the preservation, though the food was long past edible, it showed the facility had been stocked for long-term habitation.
Nonetheless, several doors were also locked with high-level restrictions. Although the red biometric scanners were no longer working, none of them dared to force them open just yet.
After all, if they tried forcefully opening such chambers and released some sort of virus or disease, that would be incredibly terrible to happen.
Cloud guided them further. [ Generator room is located two floors down. Path clear. No hostile presence detected. ]
Shane nodded as he could also tell based on his Heightened Awareness and various detection skills.
Just like that, they descended cautiously.
They saw the pipes running along the walls, and confirmed that there weren’t any cracks hinting that the foundation was damaged.
It seemed that this place was built really well. Considering the age of this place and how it was not taken care of after a long time, this was very impressive.
Then, at the bottom, they found the generator chamber. It was a massive machine, dormant but pristine.
[ Activation switch located on the central console. ]
Cloud said.
Shane approached, brushing dust off the panel. Then, he pressed the switch.
Whrrr...
The generator activated! Soon, lights started flickering across the facility. The hum of electricity filled the air as the ventilation started working as well.
System notification appeared again:
[ Facility Power Restored. ]
[ Warning: Restricted Sector remains unstable. Hazard readings elevated. Proceed with caution. ]
Cloud added.
The team looked around as lights illuminated the corridors.
Above, the lounge had already glowed with pale white light, the administrator’s office terminals flickered back to life, and the pantry’s sealed doors unlocked with a hiss.
"It’s like stepping back in time," Serenya whispered. "Like they froze this place in the moment the world ended."
Shane nodded, scanning the glowing BioGenix logo on the wall. "This was their dream... to rebuild humanity. But instead, they probably gave us stronger virus strands."
Brion tapped his polearm against the floor. "Then let’s see what they left behind. Maybe Sofia’s records are here."
Sylas remained silent as he was already searching various areas for anything that could be valuable.
"Or maybe we’ll find something worse. Just don’t open anything that you’re not sure of... We might release something we shouldn’t have."
They moved deeper into the research wing.
Terminals flickered, displaying fragmented data.
Of course, most of them didn’t understand these things...
There were charts of DNA sequences, hormone infusion protocols, and notes about "Titanblood trials" scrolled across the screens.
As Cloud tried to hack through this, one terminal displayed various information about the subjects that the researchers had experimented on...
Various notes about the Subject viability, which was only 3%, and the mortality rate that reaches 97% could be seen.
Soon, Cloud opened various data about the first humans who attempted Genetic Ascension...
Roscoe whistled softly. "Guess they weren’t as close to success as they thought."
Shane clenched his fist. "But Sofia survived. She resisted. That means there’s hope."
Cloud chimed in.
[ Warning: Sub‑Basement Labs register anomalous readings. Radiation, biohazard, and unknown energy signatures detected. Entry not recommended without preparation. ]
It seemed that as Shinja approached it, Cloud was alarmed and immediately warned Shane.
"Shinja... we’ll leave that for later," Shane said firmly. "For now, we gather what we can from the safe areas."
"Got it..." Shinja replied as he backed away in one of the research chambers.
Just like that, they explored further...
Now that there were lights, they were able to see better and observe the surroundings...
The lounge, the offices, the pantry, each one a frozen relic of the old world. Yet the restricted doors remained closed...
Although Cloud could easily open it up, Shane decided to get more information first from the terminals that they were able to activate...
For some time, the facility was quiet.
Thankfully, Cloud didn’t take too long to gather all the information that they needed.
[ Accessing Restricted Chamber Records... ]
[ Cryogenic Chamber – Status: Sealed. ]
[ Purpose: Long‑term stasis preservation of experimental subjects. ]
[ Records Found: ]
Chamber Capacity: 48 pods.
Current Status: 17 pods remain occupied. Power reserves depleted. Subjects in unknown condition.
Notes: "Cryogenic suspension was necessary to halt cellular decay during Icarus Gene trials. Subjects displayed unstable mutations. Preservation protocols initiated until further breakthroughs could be achieved."
[ Hazard Warning: Cryogenic seals compromised. Risk of contamination if the chamber is opened. ]
Now, this was some information that Shane was looking for!
"Good job, Cloud... Do you have more information about the other facilities or chambers?"
