Giant Dragon Lord: Starting from Daily Intelligence-Chapter 91: King-level Griffin’s First Battle
A sudden gale whipped up, making the banners along the castle’s edge snap and flutter.
The next moment, the Storm Griffin King powerfully kicked off the ground. Its massive body shot into the air like a cannonball, transforming into an azure streak of light that soared toward the heavens.
Dozens of Pegasus Knights followed close behind, forming a sharp arrowhead formation. They pursued the azure streak of light, sweeping in a grand procession toward the Jade Swamp.
After its ascension to Tier Four, the Storm Griffin King’s speed was astonishing.
The wind howled past his ears as the earth below sped backward.
Forests, rivers, and hills all blurred into indistinct patches of color in his vision.
Raylo sat steadily on the Griffin’s back. The powerful airstream was deflected by a pale azure shield of Wind Element energy, formed by the Storm Griffin King’s Magic Power, leaving him completely untouched.
He gazed down at the scenery rushing by below, his heart swelling with heroic ambition.
This electrifying speed was far beyond anything a Tier Three Storm Griffin could achieve.
He could even clearly feel how every flap of the Storm Griffin King’s wings drew upon the surrounding Wind Element, generating a powerful thrust that made its flight both more effortless and more rapid.
’It seems that upon becoming a Tier Four Storm Griffin King, it has gained mastery over the power of Wind Magic.’
「After about an hour of high-speed flight.」
A dark green expanse on the distant horizon gradually came into focus. That was the Jade Swamp.
A faint miasma perpetually shrouded the swamp, making it difficult for sunlight to penetrate and casting a sinister, eerie pall over the landscape.
At the swamp’s edge, the defensive line constructed by Black Stone Territory stretched like a gray ribbon, separating the wetlands from the domain’s own lands.
Several tall watchtowers stood sentinel, their tops manned by soldiers keeping a vigilant watch on the horizon.
"Lord, look!"
On a clearing beside the Jade Swamp, a dense horde of monsters was gathered.
These Demons came in various forms, but most retained the basic characteristics of serpents.
Some were covered entirely in hard, black Scale Armor, flicking forked tongues, their triangular heads glinting with a baleful green light.
Others had wings sprouting from their ribs; while they couldn’t achieve true flight, they could glide for short distances with great speed.
Still others were as stout as young calves, with corrosive Venom dripping from their mouths.
At a rough estimate, their numbers had already swelled to over two hundred, and more Demon Serpent’s Fangs seemed to be continuously crawling out from the swamp’s depths to join the main host.
They appeared agitated and restless, periodically letting out low hisses and growls, their greedy eyes fixed in the direction of Black Stone Territory.
The most conspicuous among them was a Two-headed Giant Lizard.
This Two-headed Giant Lizard was a Tier Three Magical Beast. It was a full seven to eight meters long, and it left a trail of deep craters in the boggy ground with every step.
"Prepare for battle!"
The Storm Griffin King seemed to sense its master’s fighting spirit. It let out an excited, low cry as the azure Wind Element around its body began to pulse violently, with nascent storms swirling at the edges of its wings.
"Hold your position and remain on high alert!"
Raylo commanded.
The Pegasus Knights answered in unison.
They were the aerial elite of Black Stone Territory, but even they felt the pressure when faced with such a large gathering of Demons.
’And on top of that, their Lord was planning to charge into the enemy ranks all by himself?’
Raylo didn’t look back to see their reactions.
Moonlight, nestled in his arms, simply lay there quietly, its pale golden eyes watching the dense horde of Demons below with curiosity.
"Let’s go, Baofeng!"
"This is a perfect chance to test out your newfound abilities on this horde!"
Raylo patted the Storm Griffin King beneath him.
Having been promoted from an ordinary Storm Griffin to a King-level Griffin, it had finally earned its own name.
"KREEE!"
The Storm Griffin King let out an even more piercing cry. With a single powerful beat of its enormous wings, its massive body carved an azure arc through the sky, diving toward the horde of Demons below like an arrow loosed from a bow.
Its speed was incredible!
The wind roaring past his ears grew violent in an instant, and the teeming horde of Demons below swelled rapidly in his vision.
Raylo was braced securely on the Storm Griffin King’s broad back, feeling an irresistible Power surging beneath him.
The might and Power of a Tier Four Storm Griffin King far surpassed what it had been before. 𝘧𝓇𝑒𝑒𝑤ℯ𝑏𝓃𝘰𝑣ℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮
The disorganized mob of Demon Serpent’s Fangs on the ground had clearly not expected a giant Griffin to dive straight down at them.
As its shadow fell over them, they let out panicked hisses, writhing in chaos as they tried to scatter.
The Storm Griffin King’s enormous wings beat rapidly during its dive, each flap whipping up visible torrents of chaotic air.
But these currents were not random; they were imbued with potent Wind Element Power, forming sharp cyclones that swept across the ground like invisible blades.
"RRRIP! RRRIP!"
Caught off guard, the Demon Serpent’s Fangs were sent tumbling by the gale. Some were flipped completely over, their hard Scale Armor emitting a teeth-grating screech against the Wind Blades.
Some of the smaller Demons were even swept right off their feet, tumbling through the air with piercing shrieks.
The Storm Griffin King’s target was clear: the massive Two-headed Giant Lizard.
It stood out in the horde of Demons, its two triangular heads turning warily toward the sky.
Sensing the immense pressure radiating from the Storm Griffin King, the Two-headed Giant Lizard let out a deep growl.
One of its heads snapped up. A strange GURGLING sound came from its throat, and then a geyser of dark green liquid erupted from its mouth, carrying a pungent, corrosive stench as it shot toward the diving Storm Griffin King.
The foul-smelling Venom traced a pale green arc through the air.
However, the Storm Griffin King was prepared.
The tempo of its wingbeats suddenly accelerated, and the azure shield of Wind Element around its body instantly intensified.
Under its control, an even stronger, more concentrated cyclone materialized before it, shaped like a rapidly spinning funnel.
"WHOOSH!"
The projectile of Venom slammed into the cyclone. Instead of penetrating, it was drawn inside, spinning violently with the vortex.
The Storm Griffin King deftly adjusted the cyclone’s trajectory, violently shoving the venom-laced vortex back toward the Two-headed Giant Lizard.
"ROAR!"
The Two-headed Giant Lizard let out a pained roar.
The amplified cyclone of its own Venom slammed viciously into its body.
The dark green liquid ate away at its tough Scale Armor like acid. An incessant SIZZLING filled the air as plumes of white smoke rose from its body, revealing the scorched, blackened flesh underneath.
Seizing the opportunity, the Storm Griffin King closed the distance.
It folded its wings like a hunting raptor, its two enormous, steel-like talons whistling through the air as they slashed viciously at the Two-headed Giant Lizard’s back.
"CRUNCH!"
The steel-like talons were incredibly sharp, effortlessly tearing through the Giant Lizard’s venom-corroded Scale Armor and flesh, embedding themselves deep on either side of its spine.
The Two-headed Giant Lizard let out an even more piercing shriek, its massive body thrashing wildly as it tried to break free from the deadly grip.
But the Storm Griffin King’s Power was immense!
Its talons held fast as its giant wings beat violently once more.
A powerful gale erupted from beneath its wings. Wind Magic Power surged through them, and it forcibly tore the seven-to-eight-meter-long, massive body of the Two-headed Giant Lizard straight off the ground!
"ROAR! ROAR!"
The Two-headed Giant Lizard flailed its two heads wildly in midair, trying to spit Venom or snap its jaws, but the Storm Griffin King’s grip was ironclad as it continued to climb ever higher.
