Chapter 50: Chapter 50: The Running Mountain of Meat

"Giant Stone City?"

Giant Stone City was located northwest of Black Stone Territory. It was a considerably powerful territory on the Northern Border, and its lord was a long-famous and powerful Knight.

"Let him in," Raylo ordered.

Soon, a middle-aged man dressed in exquisite Chain Armor was led into the study by a guard.

Over his armor, the man wore a tabard embroidered with the sigil of Giant Stone City—a Battle Hammer wreathed in lightning. It was the sigil of the Giant Stone Family.

His steps were steady, his gaze sharp, and he carried himself with the composure befitting a Great Territory Envoy.

"Lord Raylo, my respects to you."

The envoy bowed slightly, performing a standard noble courtesy with an air that was neither servile nor overbearing.

"I have come to pay a visit under the order of the Lord of Giant Stone Territory, Lord Barton ’Panshi’ Giant Stone."

"Barton Giant Stone?"

Raylo had heard the name before.

This Lord of Giant Stone Territory was a powerful Tier Four Sky Knight, and his contracted partner was an infamously fearsome Tier Four Magical Beast—the Winged Demon Tiger.

In the entire Northern Border region, his strength was considered among the very top.

"Please have a seat, Envoy."

Raylo gestured to a nearby chair.

"May I ask what important matter Lord Barton has sent you for?"

The envoy did not take a seat. Instead, he produced an exquisite Scroll sealed with wax from his coat and presented it with both hands.

"Lord Barton heard that Black Stone Territory has a new master, and so he specially commanded me to deliver this invitation," the envoy said.

"Half a month from now, Lord Barton will be hosting a gathering for the lords of the Northern Border in Giant Stone City to discuss border affairs. His Lordship hopes to meet with you, Lord Raylo, in Giant Stone City at that time."

Raylo accepted the invitation. It felt heavy in his hand, and the wax seal was clearly imprinted with the sigil of the Giant Stone Battle Hammer.

He broke the seal and unrolled the Scroll.

The script on it was strong and vigorous, and its content matched what the envoy had said, inviting him to Giant Stone City for a gathering in half a month.

A gathering of the lords of the Northern Border...

Raylo’s fingers traced the edge of the scroll as his thoughts raced.

’This is clearly no simple meeting.’

’But for a new lord like me, who has just inherited a territory with an unstable foundation, this is both an opportunity to integrate into the circle of northern lords and a potential test with hidden challenges.’

However, no matter what, this was an invitation he could not refuse.

"Please reply to Lord Barton," Raylo said, looking up at the envoy, "that I accept his invitation. I will be sure to arrive in Giant Stone City on time in half a month."

A formulaic smile appeared on the envoy’s face.

"Lord Barton will certainly be pleased to hear this news. In that case, my task is complete. I shall not disturb you any longer, my lord."

After bowing once more, the envoy took his leave.

As the envoy from Giant Stone City walked out of the castle gates, he still wore that perfectly professional smile.

He had formed an initial assessment of this young Black Stone Lord: composed, neither servile nor arrogant. It seemed he wouldn’t be as easy to deal with as the rumors suggested.

’Still, how much of a foundation could a newly-minted noble who just inherited his lands possibly have?’

He was just about to retrieve his mount, which was waiting outside the gates, when a huge commotion suddenly erupted from the direction of the town entrance, interrupting his thoughts.

"Look! What’s that!"

"Heavens! What a huge boar!"

"Thor’s back! He’s dragging a mountain behind him!"

The envoy frowned and looked toward the source of the noise.

A cloud of dust was billowing down the main road at the town’s entrance, where a tall, sturdy figure was striding forward.

Even more eye-catching was the behemoth he was dragging behind him with thick vines.

It was a giant wild boar, far larger than any ordinary one. Its tusks were savage and exposed, its thick limbs were like stone pillars, and its bristles stood on end like steel needles. Even in death, it still exuded a fierce and brutal aura.

It was so enormous that as it was dragged along the road, it looked like a small, mobile mountain of meat, drawing gasps of awe and reverence from the townspeople on the roadside.

The man walking in front was Thor.

He was bare-chested, his bronze, knotted muscles caked with dirt and dark red blood, clear evidence of a grueling battle.

"Thor! Is that the Wild Boar King?" a brave townsman shouted.

"Haha! That’s right!"

Thor’s resonant voice rang out, tinged with pride.

"This beast wandered out of the Black Stone Mountain Range and into the territory, and I happened to run into it on patrol! This should be enough for everyone to eat well for days!"

The townspeople erupted in cheers.

Watching this scene, the envoy from Giant Stone City’s smile faded slightly.

He could sense the residual, savage aura from the Wild Boar King; it was definitely no ordinary beast.

And this young man named Thor was able to hunt such a ferocious creature by himself. His strength could not be underestimated.

The envoy’s figure disappeared at the end of the road, while Black Stone Town grew livelier because of the "running mountain of meat" that Thor had hunted. More and more townspeople flocked to the streets to see the spectacle.

The clamor continued until evening before gradually subsiding.

「The next morning.」
