Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 357: Search
Then she tilted her head slightly.
"But if that’s the case, shouldn’t Jenny be treated better?"
Her gaze slowly scanned the luxurious mansion around them.
"She works in such a huge house, yet she still looks underfed and sickly."
She smiled faintly.
"If I didn’t know better, I would have thought she was being mistreated here."
The moment those words were spoken, the atmosphere in the room turned cold.
Daniel’s expression darkened, and even the guards standing nearby began glaring at Lana angrily.
But Lana simply chuckled. "Oh, don’t look at me like that."
She waved her hand casually.
"It’s not like I’ve conducted some grand investigation or anything."
Then she turned toward Jenny again and pointed directly at her.
"You must be an illegitimate child, right?"
Her voice sounded almost playful. "Otherwise why would they hide you like this?"
Daniel’s expression instantly turned icy. "You are crossing the line."
Lana chuckled again.
Then she calmly took out her identification card and waved it lightly in front of Daniel.
"Crossing the line?"
She smiled innocently.
"Well... I have every right to cross the line."
Her voice turned slightly colder.
"You see... I’m a student from Shadowridge University."
The moment those words were spoken, Daniel’s eyes widened in shock.
The guards nearby froze.
Even the air in the room seemed to grow heavier.
Everyone looked stunned, except Monica.
After all, she had already known Lana’s identity.
Being a student of Shadowridge University wasn’t just a matter of admission.
It granted authority. It granted privilege. And most importantly... It granted power.
Very few people in the entire country could enjoy such a status.
And the moment Lana revealed that identity, it meant only one thing.
She had more than enough power to turn this entire mansion upside down if she wished.
Daniel swallowed hard. A faint bead of sweat formed at his temple as a memory flashed through his mind.
He clearly remembered reading an article in the newspaper not long ago.
The article had mentioned a special regulation: as long as a university ranked within the top ten nationally, its students possessed the authority to investigate suspicious matters without needing prior approval from local authorities.
The policy had been introduced to compensate for the shortage of investigative manpower across the country.
At the time, Daniel had merely skimmed through the article with mild interest.
’Who would have thought... that rule would come back to bite me one day?’
Meanwhile, Lana looked straight at Daniel and smiled. The smile was gentle, yet there was something unsettling hidden beneath it.
"So..." she spoke slowly, her voice calm and almost playful.
"Are you in the mood to tell me what’s really going on here?"
Her eyes gleamed faintly.
"Or should I just use my authority and have you put behind bars right now?"
The moment those words left her lips, Daniel’s expression stiffened.
His gaze immediately shifted toward Monica with a dark look.
"I allowed you all into my house because I thought you genuinely needed a place to stay," he spoke coldly.
His tone wasn’t openly threatening, but the meaning behind his words was obvious.
’Since you have time to interfere in others’ business, I won’t let you stay here!’
Monica naturally understood the hidden threat.
She simply chuckled. "Oh, if it’s about the place, don’t worry."
Her smile widened slightly. "We can even search it if necessary."
Then she added casually,
"Who knows? Maybe we’ll find some hidden black money lying around."
The moment those words were spoken, Daniel’s pupils shrank violently.
His reaction was far too obvious.
Everyone in the room instantly realized the truth.
There was something hidden here. Monica’s smile disappeared in an instant.
Her voice turned sharp. "Search the entire villa."
She immediately turned to her subordinates.
"Leave no corner unchecked."
Daniel abruptly stood up from his seat, his chair scraping loudly against the marble floor.
"You can’t do that!"
His voice rose with anger.
"Without an arrest warrant, you have no right to search my house!"
Lana chuckled softly at those words. She lazily waved her ID card in the air.
"Oh? Did you forget about this?"
Her smile widened. "With this authority, we don’t need a warrant."
Her eyes looked directly into his.
"As long as I want, I can conduct a search anywhere."
Daniel’s jaw tightened. However, after a moment, he forced himself to calm down.
"Even if that is the case," he spoke through clenched teeth, "you still need to give us ten minutes."
He straightened his coat slightly. "That is the rule. We need time to mentally prepare."
Lana stared at him quietly for a moment.
Then she sighed softly and leaned back against the couch. "Fine."
Her voice sounded completely indifferent.
"You have ten minutes."
After saying that, she closed her eyes slightly while speaking through the communication link connected to Mr. Crow.
"Keep an eye on everything."
Daniel clenched his fists when he saw this.
By now he had already realized that Lana was the one truly making decisions here.
Instead of arguing further, he simply pulled out his phone and began typing a message. His fingers moved quickly across the screen.
Lana noticed the movement.
She opened one eye and glanced lazily in his direction.
Then she closed it again.
Her posture looked relaxed, as if she were simply resting and conserving her energy.
Meanwhile, Monica watched Daniel carefully.
She couldn’t help but feel confused.
’What exactly is Lana planning?’
Jenny, on the other hand, had begun trembling quietly near the corner of the room.
Fear filled her chest like cold water.
’Once these strangers leave... Grandpa will definitely punish me.’
The thought alone made her body shiver uncontrollably.
Suddenly, she felt a sharp gaze on her.
Jenny slowly lifted her head and saw Daniel staring at her.
His eyes were cold. 𝗳𝗿𝐞𝕖𝘄𝗲𝕓𝗻𝚘𝚟𝕖𝐥.𝚌𝕠𝕞
He subtly motioned toward Lana with his gaze.
Jenny instantly understood what he wanted.
Her heart began pounding violently.
With slow and hesitant steps, she walked toward Lana.
