Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 311: Thirty Million
"Still, I recommend that you go train in the suburban areas without relying on food supplies. It would be better if you learned more survival skills."
Lana understood immediately.
In her previous life, she had suffered immensely while surviving in the wild.
She knew better than anyone how important such training was.
She nodded firmly.
Seeing her response, Axel almost reached out to rub her head again, but he stopped himself at the last moment.
Once they returned to the mansion, Lana immediately instructed Lucy,
"Bring out the best dishes from the kitchen."
Lucy complied without hesitation. When the food was laid out, Lana looked at her in surprise.
"How did you even know I would arrive now?"
Lucy smiled calmly.
"Sir Lucian already heard about your ranking. This is her way of congratulating you."
Lana blinked before breaking into a delighted smile and digging in enthusiastically.
Meanwhile, Axel watched quietly, conflicted thoughts stirring in his heart.
’Lucian and Quinn are both too sharp,’ he thought. ’Having them around Lana... might be a loss for me.’
Both men were wolves! And they have deep affection for Lana, he felt an unspoken dissatisfaction lingering beneath the surface.
After the meal, Lana took out a storage talisman and handed it to Axel.
"Thank you," she said sincerely.
She knew how to use it, but she also knew that such talismans weren’t disposable.
She assumed Axel, who likely bought it at great cost, would want it back.
To her surprise, Axel returned it to her instead. He smiled gently.
"Consider it the price for ranking first in your grade."
Lana hesitated, her hand hovering in midair. "That’s too expensive..."
Axel chuckled and pulled her into a brief embrace, resting his hand lightly on her head.
"You are my niece," he said softly, "and if not for what happened during your birth, you would have lived like a princess."
His voice deepened with emotion.
"I promise I’ll treat you as well as I would my own daughter. Even better. So don’t think about prices. Think about what you like. I’ll get it for you."
Lana fell silent, her chest tightening. She hugged him back instinctively.
Axel closed his eyes for a moment, and the next second, he heard her whisper, "Thank you."
She truly meant it.
After that interaction, Axel only offered a faint smile.
Lana’s attitude toward him softened noticeably, and when theory exams arrived, she gave it her absolute best.
When the results were released, she ranked first in mystical cultivation.
Seeing the results, Lana was thrilled. She was already close to breaking into the Earth Rank.
Once she secured some more cultivation, she could proudly claim she was among the fastest to reach it.
Still, she restrained her smugness and returned to her routine.
Her life settled into a simple rhythm.
University during the day, cultivation at the mansion afterward, and talisman crafting late into the night.
She practiced relentlessly.
Cassandra, meanwhile, kept sending messages, repeatedly requesting to meet her.
Lana ignored them all, treating Cassandra like an irrelevant existence.
When Cassandra finally realized Lana had no intention of meeting her, she waited outside the mystical department classroom.
In the end, she was shooed away, as unauthorized individuals weren’t allowed near the department.
Lana found quiet satisfaction in that.
However, after leaving the department one day, she ran into Cassandra directly.
Cassandra rushed toward her desperately, as if missing this chance would be fatal.
Lana stopped short, her expression instantly turning cold. "What do you want?"
Cassandra’s eyes filled with tears. "I just want to talk," she said quickly. "About an investment plan."
This time, she didn’t dare beat around the bush.
She knew very well that this Lana wasn’t the same as before.
One wrong word, and Lana would shut her down without hesitation.
Lana chuckled, as if she had just heard the most ridiculous joke in the world.
Her expression, however, remained perfectly straight.
"I’m not interested," she replied coolly.
"Cassandra, no matter what you say, I won’t agree."
Cassandra didn’t give up. She stepped closer, her voice turning urgent.
"This is important to you too," she insisted. "It could help you survive."
Lana didn’t even spare her a glance.
Seeing that her persuasion was useless, Cassandra’s tone shifted.
Her lips trembled before she blurted out, "Then give my money back."
Lana stopped walking.
Slowly, she turned around and looked at Cassandra with eyes so cold they sent a chill down the spine.
"Your money?" she repeated calmly. "From what I remember, I already repaid everything."
Cassandra stiffened. "What are you talking about?"
Lana let out a soft laugh.
"The money I spent on you over the years," she replied. "Throughout our so-called friendship."
At that, Cassandra laughed nervously.
"Don’t joke around. How could that ever add up to thirty million dollars?"
Her voice rose.
"You owed thirty million to Almond family so how come you are claiming to have spend 30 million on me. Even if prices increased, there’s no way you spent that much on me."
Lana laughed again, wiping a tear from the corner of her eye as if genuinely amused.
Then she looked straight at Cassandra.
"From what I remember," she said slowly, "when I was still a child, performing in variety shows and earning prize money, you came to me asking for help to survive."
Cassandra’s face drained of color.
"At that time," Lana continued, her tone steady, "you needed ten thousand... sometimes twenty thousand... every single month."
She smiled faintly. "Not much, right?"
She took a step closer.
"Then it became ten thousand to twenty thousand every week. For two to three years."
Her eyes hardened. "I only stopped when you promised me you had everything under control."
Cassandra clenched her fists.
"Even then," she snapped, "that’s barely over one million. At most, 1.2 million."
Lana nodded calmly.
"If that 1.2 million had been invested properly," she replied, "it would have yielded at least ten million by now." Her gaze sharpened.
"After all, eleven years have passed."
Cassandra lowered her head, shame flickering across her face.
