Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 194: Dirty-1
"Lana, you seem to know some kind of gossip? Don’t hide it! Let me know!" Mr. Crow asked with curiosity-filled eyes, as the gentle breeze of the evening grazed his feathers.
"Hm... where should I begin? Let’s begin with the maid. She was acting all heartbroken and resentful... when in reality it was she who had pushed her own daughter to sleep with a wealthy man just to get enough money to pay off her debts." Lana explained.
"Ohh... but what I couldn’t understand... how did her daughter’s son die? And why does she seem so resentful if she had used her daughter in the first place?" Mr. Crow’s question was valid, and Lana chuckled.
"I saw her past. And realized that she loved her daughter a lot. But her love wasn’t enough to see her (the maid) lose her limbs because of some debts. So she pushed her daughter. Who would have thought that her daughter would end up getting pregnant?" Lana looked amused.
"During delivery, her daughter died while giving birth to the son," Lana explained. "That was the first time she became resentful, even though Jeffrey, aka George, had given her an amount she had requested."
"Tsk, tsk. Complex women!" Mr. Crow commented.
"She felt guilty, too. Thinking that it was her own fault that her daughter died. Then, she thought of giving her grandson the best life, or maybe she was hoping for some compensation because she reached out to Jeffrey." Lana’s voice was light, and by now she had already reached the car.
"At that time, Jeffrey was poor too and finally hooked up with a rich woman. So, not wanting the maid or his son to ruin his future prospects, he decided to kill his son, and he succeeded. He even changed his name and married the rich woman."
"Then what about the purple mist surrounding George?" Mr. Crow asked curiously.
"Have some patience and let me continue." Lana scolded him softly, "As I was saying. Using the rich woman, George found resources and entered the military. At first, he might have done it to get away from the maid and the guilt of what he might have done, but soon he realized that he had a talent for fighting."
"Let me guess, he rose using his talent and turned his destiny around?" Mr. Crow asked.
Lana laughed softly and shook her head. "No! That’s the main plot twist. From what I can see, even after working in the military for a long time, he wasn’t promoted, making him feel resentful. By then, the rich woman had divorced him, too."
"Then what did he do to reach where he is?" Mr. Crow’s heart was itching with curiosity.
"Hm... so he found a celestial master who was well versed in changing luck. He begged the master to find a way to change his luck, since the master told him that he was destined to stay at the bottom of the society chain, even with his talent."
"Oh... so he exchanged his luck with his granddaughter and daughter?" Mr. Crow guessed.
"No. The celestial master had found him a woman who had a royal bloodline and asked him to marry her. Then he siphoned the woman’s luck to George, resulting in him finally stepping onto a completely different path," Lana finished calmly as she opened the car door and slid into the passenger seat.
Mr. Crow fluttered onto the dashboard, his claws clicking softly. His beady eyes shone. "Different path? You’re telling me his sudden rise wasn’t talent or effort, but stolen fate?"
Lana fastened her seatbelt, her fingers moving unhurriedly. A faint smile curved her lips.
"Exactly. From the moment the luck-transfer ritual was completed, his life started changing unnaturally fast. Promotions came one after another. Opportunities landed in his lap without him even reaching for them. Every battle he fought turned in his favor at the most critical moment."
She paused, her gaze drifting to the darkening sky outside the windshield. ’Luck so thick it could choke someone,’ she thought.
"But," she continued aloud, "luck taken by force never stays clean."
"His wife died?" Mr. Crow guessed.
"Not immediately," Lana replied softly. "That would’ve been merciful. Instead, her body grew weaker year by year. Illness after illness. By the time she realized something was wrong, it was already too late."
"Wanting to take revenge on him, she had a child with another man and made him think that the daughter they had was their own daughter. George, unaware, raised his daughter while watching his own wife die. After that, he retired, but by then he had already gained a lot. Enough to hire someone to make a talisman formation."
"Did he raise the daughter?" Mr. Crow asked curiously. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
"Yes," she said after a moment, her voice even.
"The daughter wasn’t his blood. But fate has a strange sense of humor. He poured genuine affection into raising her, taught her everything he knew, and protected her like the treasure he thought she was."
"Sigh... then? What happened then?"
"His daughter knew the truth and learned how to exchange luck. At first, she used it to get married into a rich family, but after giving birth to a daughter, her luck ran out completely. She wanted to take revenge on her father, and knowing that she would die soon, she asked her own daughter to take revenge." Lana explained.
"Even then, I think the granddaughter is innocent." Mr. Crow murmured.
"Hm? Well, she learned the art of borrowing luck and used it to make herself look competent. She wanted to attract her grandfather’s attention so that he would hand over all the assets he owns. He eventually did, and she was slowly poisoning him to die." Lana explained.
"Sigh... so the old man will still die, huh? What a tragedy, just how he must have hurt when he got to know that his granddaughter, whom he passed everything to, wanted to kill him.
"Hm... well... you see, there is another twist." Lana murmured.
