Ghost Exorciser: The Oust Fake Heiress Strikes-Chapter 152: Received
Meanwhile, Megan took out the old marksheet, the edges slightly torn and looking as if they were on the verge of falling apart.
She handed it to her father, who looked at it as though it were a priceless treasure and immediately nodded in satisfaction.
She watched silently as her father submitted the documents through the messaging app. Once he was done, he looked at Megan, patting her hand.
"This time we’ll definitely receive money for your university fees. You won’t have to worry about money in the future at all."
Megan sighed but remained quiet. Seeing her father in such a high mood, she decided not to throw cold water on his hopes.
After all, he rarely got this happy after her mother’s death.
Today, even if it was a scam, perhaps it was better to let him enjoy this moment. Still, she couldn’t help but feel a flicker of anger toward whoever dared deceive her father.
’Can’t that girl have basic respect and not scam an elder? Just how low a person can stoop?’
She vowed to take revenge against whoever this person was when she became successful.
’If they can deploy such despicable method against my father... god knows what kind of method they might use against youth!’
Taking a deep breath, she resolved that she would investigate the matter the next day and report it to the police station!
The next morning, as usual, she woke up early.
She made sure to wake her father, who was sleeping on the hard mattress on the floor.
Even though the mattress was almost as stiff as a wooden plank, her father always insisted on giving her the bed. He gave her a silly smile before rubbing his eyes, getting on the bed, and falling asleep back on the bed.
It was a routine they had decided on, and just to give her father a few more moments to see her in bed, Megan wakes up early every day.
She immediately cleaned the house, prepared a quick breakfast, and, while waiting, picked up a book to read.
Their living conditions were far from ideal, and she knew that if she wanted to change their situation, she needed to work harder than everyone else... using every spare second while her peers went out partying.
Just then, her attention was drawn to her phone as a message popped up.
Curious, Megan opened it. For a moment, she froze, unable to believe what she was seeing.
To make sure she wasn’t hallucinating, she checked whether the message came from a real number or some fake sender.
Still unsure, she hurried to the nearest bank, waited for it to open, and confirmed the truth.
The moment she saw her updated bank balance, she felt her breath hitch.
On her way back, her mind was still blank with disbelief.
When she reached home, she found her father waiting anxiously for her so they could have breakfast together. The moment he saw her, he asked worriedly.
"Where were you? We always eat together." 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦
Even though he was running late, he still decided to wait for his daughter. Nothing was more important than his daughter.
Megan looked at him, her expression dazed, and slowly sat down across from him. Her father stared in confusion.
"What happened? Why do you look so shocked?"
Megan stuttered before finally managing to say, "Father... I received a message this morning."
Mario’s eyes lit up immediately. "Was it from that organization? Did they reply? Do they need more verification?"
But seeing Megan’s pale face, his excitement quickly turned to panic.
"Don’t tell me... Don’t tell me it was a scam! Did they trick us? Did they hack our account? Did we lose all our money? God... it’s all because of me..."
His voice grew tense, his hands trembling.
Megan realized her father was spiraling and quickly grabbed his arm.
"No! You’re misunderstanding." She took a deep breath. "We... we received ten million dollars."
For a moment, Mario froze completely, unable to process her words. "We... received ten million dollars?" he repeated in a dazed whisper.
When Megan nodded, the truth finally sank in. Mario’s expression slowly transformed from disbelief to overwhelming joy.
He immediately held his daughter’s hands, shaking them excitedly.
"We did it! We finally have enough money for your university fees! Why are you looking so gloomy? You should be thrilled! We should go out and celebrate!"
The more he thought about it, the more exhilarated he became. He clapped his hands, tears forming in his eyes.
"The heavens had mercy on us... They finally looked our way!"
He began thanking the girl who had given him the number, saying one grateful sentence after another.
"If I ever meet that girl again, I will thank her properly. She saved us."
Then Mario took Megan’s hand in both of his and said earnestly.
"You should always be grateful to this organization. Remember them in the future. Repay their kindness when you can."
Megan finally snapped out of her stunned state and asked softly,
"What... what is the name of the organization?"
Previously, she had been so suspicious that she didn’t even bother asking.
She had assumed it was like the other "organizations" she’d encountered... ones that wanted her freedom, or ones that were nothing more than scams. And her father, too excited to think straight, had forgotten to ask for a name as well.
Now, looking at him with trembling eyes, she hoped he would tell her.
If she said she wasn’t grateful, it would be a lie. She was deeply touched... so much that tears stung her eyes.
Only she knew how much she had struggled: compromising basic necessities, taking extra part-time jobs, worrying every day about her father’s health, and pushing herself while her peers prepared for exams in comfort.
And now, suddenly, they had ten million dollars... enough not only to pay her university fees but also to drastically improve their living conditions.
Her chest tightened as the reality finally settled in.
Maybe... maybe for once in her life, something good had truly happened.
