Chapter 145: Chapter 145: Complaint

But before he could touch her, Lana suddenly looked at the empty air beside her and called out, "Don’t even think about possessing this man!"

Ezra’s raised hand froze mid-air.

He stared at the empty space and then at Lana... terror slowly crawling across his face. Lana scolded the empty air with a stern expression.

"He’s my client; you can’t possess him. Stop hovering around him."

Ezra shivered. There was a ghost here planning to possess him?

For a moment, he deeply regretted ever calling for an exorcist like her. He lowered his hand immediately.

Lana turned to him with an apologetic smile.

"She’s mischievous, that’s all. Don’t take it to heart."

Ezra only managed a stiff smile and waved weakly. Lana walked out calmly.

Mr. Crow asked in a curious tone, "Why did you act like that? Did you sense something?"

Lana replied, "I had a strong instinct he was about to attack me. Or at least make a move."

Mr. Crow frowned. "Why doesn’t he fear that a university this wealthy might retaliate?"

Lana tapped her fingers against her thigh as she walked.

"Most likely because he committed some crimes before and got away with them. Now he thinks he can do it again and escape consequences."

With that, she reached the elevator and turned back toward Ezra, who was following her with a lowered head, deep in thought. Lana smiled warmly.

"You only need to drop me here. I’ll handle the mission myself."

Ezra frowned. "I... don’t feel comfortable in my apartment. Can you help me rent another place?"

Lana’s eyes lit up. "Of course! I know someone. He can help you rent a place for twenty thousand dollars."

She even took out her phone as if she were contacting someone.

Ezra almost had a heart attack.

When he issued this mission, the middleman had promised him that good mission ratings might make students pay for his food and lodging.

But now? He was hearing the complete opposite. He was expected to pay everything himself.

Gritting his teeth, he said in a voice that was both non-threatening and yet clearly threatening,

"You can book the house and force me to pay... but I might not leave a good review."

Lana laughed. "So you’re threatening me?"

This time, Ezra didn’t bother hiding it. He nodded. "You can take it as that."

Lana chuckled. "There’s an unspoken rule at my university. Anyone who threatens a mission acceptor is likely to get jailed."

She casually scrolled through her phone, as if checking something.

Ezra smirked and asked, "What proof do you have that I threatened you?"

Lana turned the screen around and showed him the phone, recording everything.

In an instant, all arrogance drained from Ezra’s face.

Before he could reach for the phone, Lana waved her hand lightly. The phone suddenly floated upward and stayed suspended near the ceiling.

Ezra’s eyes widened in terror. To him, it looked like psychic power.

"Y...You have psychic abilities too?" he stammered.

Lana smiled. "Strange that you noticed only now."

Reality was... it was Mr. Crow who was secretly controlling it.

Ezra clenched his fists and lowered his head.

"It was my mistake. I shouldn’t have threatened you."

Lana smiled and said,

"If you want that, then you need to put a five-star review on my mission and mark it as completed. Otherwise, I’ll submit this to my university, and then I won’t have to care about your five-star review at all... I’ll hand you directly to the police."

Hearing those words, Ezra gritted his teeth.

His eyes reddened with suppressed rage, and for a moment, he nearly wanted to strangle her.

But ever since he learned she had psychic powers, he didn’t dare act recklessly. If he angered her, he knew she would do something extreme.

So he forced a stiff smile. "I’ll... definitely do as you say."

He took out his phone, trying to stretch out every second... hoping Lana would get distracted and drop the floating phone.

However, Lana simply stood there calmly, checking her nails as if she were on vacation.

Realizing she had no intention of helping him, Ezra finally submitted the five-star review, posted it, and marked the mission as completed.

He showed her the screen. Lana glanced at it, smiled, and nodded.

"Good. You know what’s good for you."

She lifted her hand slowly, and the phone began descending from the ceiling to her palm. Ezra let out a long breath of relief.

"Will you delete it now?" he asked anxiously.

Lana shook her head. "No. I still need to look into this case."

She turned and began walking toward the elevator. As she did, Ezra’s dark emotions flared up again... only to be cut off when Lana suddenly narrowed her eyes at the empty air beside her and scolded loudly,

"Dolly, you’re not allowed to possess him. The mission is over. If you do it, he might file a complaint against me."

Ezra froze. All malicious thoughts instantly dissipated.

Meanwhile, Mr. Crow stared at Lana in pure disbelief. Her shamelessness and creativity genuinely stunned him.

She was brilliantly manipulative... And for a moment, he almost wanted to laugh.

Lana stepped into the elevator. Ezra watched her with an awkward expression. She smiled at him as the doors closed.

Inside, she waited for the ghost to appear. However, even when she reached the ground floor, nothing appeared.

Mr. Crow asked, "Did the ghost give up after seeing the talisman?"

Lana hummed thoughtfully. "Probably."

She went back up. Then down again.

It took three elevator rides before someone else entered... and only then did the ghost suddenly appear. This time, she manifested right in front of a man who had stepped in, hoping to draw his attention.

But the man calmly looked at his phone, completely absorbed.

Lana watched silently as the ghost tried to get his attention, only for him to exit without noticing anything. The ghost sighed and even hummed a sad little tune, clearly disappointed.

Lana’s cool voice echoed in the ghost’s ears.

"Do you want attention that badly?"
