Getting a Sugar Mommy in Cultivation World!!-Chapter 635: The Truth [2]
The people gathered in the area were not as broad-minded as the magistrate, and they immediately refused to believe anything Noah said.
Even though he was a cultivator, their belief in the woman was higher than someone who had just arrived in the town.
Not to mention most of them did not even see how he appeared in front of the cathedral, or they would not even dare to breathe before him.
Just when the unrest of the public grew, a guard came rushing towards them from the direction of the city gates, his face pale and full of fright.
"Magistrate! Magistrate! Emergency! A Beast Tide is coming!" The guard stopped before the magistrate and spoke through quick breaths.
The magistrate wanted to admonish the guard for his unpleasant state and shouting, but the words that reached his ears made him unable to speak.
"Must be the Beast Attracting Pill; the scent has drifted towards the city because of the airflow." Noah stepped into the conversation and looked towards the city gates.
He raised his hand and slashed through the air as if his hand was a blade. A wave of purple energy escaped his hands and vanished through the air.
His action not only shut up the people who were questioning Noah a moment ago, but it also made the magistrate look at him in newfound awe and respect.
Boom!
A wave of silence covered the area before everyone heard the barrier of sound being broken, followed by a sleek slash.
The purple hue faded in the air, lingering with the rays of the sun, making it appear ethereal and awe-inspiring.
"Is this the power of an immortal…" Someone from the crowd spoke through trembling lips.
"What happened?" Someone else inquired, curious about what Noah had done. It was not just him; even the magistrate was looking at him with a puzzled look but did not dare to ask anything.
He did not have to ask anything, as another guard came from the same direction, rushing with an excited yet scared look on his face.
"Magistrate!" He exclaimed, kneeling before the man on one knee, "The beasts have been slain by an unknown force. Not a single one remains standing."
Every mortal present heard those words, and they all looked at Noah at the same time, their mouths agape and their eyes filled with disbelief.
"I thank the immortal masters for their help and grace. I will do my best to fulfill any requests you might have." The magistrate was the first to snap out of his daze.
He immediately knelt before Noah and showed his gratitude.
"There is no time for any of this." Noah waved his hands and turned around with haste. "All the proof we need is inside the temple."
Despite finding the culprit responsible for every kidnapping, including Ah Shi's child, Noah did not seem happy.
On the contrary, his expression was worse than it was before.
He turned around, without waiting for anyone, and walked through the gates of the temple that opened on their own.
Xin Yan followed behind like a shadow. The next one to rush behind them was none other than the widow Ah Shi.
The plump noble was startled when he saw them rushing inside, but he hurriedly followed after them with guards in tow.
"Prevent the others from entering this place." Before entering, he ordered some of the guards to keep the entrance secure.
Walking through the narrow hallway, they entered the main hall, where several benches facing one single table and chair were placed.
The sweet and bitter scent of the herbs could be smelled in the air; a single whiff could make the bodies of the mortals feel lightened and relaxed.
Widow Ah Shi ran around the corridor to look for her son, but Noah knew she would not find anything in there.
After gasping for breath, the magistrate calmed himself and said, "There is only this room here."
"I had this entire place turned upside down, but none of the guards found anything here." His eyes were burning with hatred as he spoke about the famous healer.
Yet again, not a syllable escaped Noah's lips. He slowly walked towards Xin Yan, who was already standing in the opening, looking at the ground with a sad look on her face.
He reached out and placed a hand on her shoulder, causing her figure to tremble.
"We have to tell her," he said.
Xin Yan looked over her shoulder and showed a pained look on her face. "She will break."
"She has the right to know."
The magistrate got confused by their words but did not dare to interrupt and only listened silently from the side.
"Where is my Qin Yu?" Widow Ah Shi, not finding her son in any of the adjacent rooms, appeared before the two of them.
Noah silently tapped on the ground with the tip of his foot twice.
Tap! Tap!
The voice echoed throughout the room, and a ripple pulsed all around the floor with him as the center.
An intricate-looking array appeared on the ground. It glowed and shattered like a fragile glass mirror.
The ground shifted, and an entrance leading to the hidden chamber underground appeared before their eyes.
"How is that possible?" The magistrate looked at the dark stairway leading down with shock. "A year ago, this place was flattened. There was not even a sign of a hole, let alone a secret chamber."
The next second a wave of air, laced with red mist, came gushing out, but before it could reach them, Noah waved his hand and slashed through the air, dispersing it into the distance.
Widow Ah Shi may not have noticed something, but the magistrate, who was a bit experienced, recognized the lingering scent in the air.
His face paled with realization. From the corner of his eyes, he saw Noah taking the lead to walk downstairs.
He asked two guards to stay at the entrance and join the group at the end.
While walking, Noah conjured a wisp of fire to light up their pathway. The stairway was not that long, and they arrived at the bottommost step in no time.
'Qin Yu,' Ah Shi had her hands clenched in front of her chest. She could hear her own heartbeat when the two reverend cultivators stopped walking in front of her.
They looked back at the same time, and the look in their eyes gave her a grave sense of despair.
'Why are you looking at me like that?!' She exclaimed in her heart, but no word reached her tongue. 'Please don't look at me like that!'
Noah and Xin Yan exchanged glances before moving to the side, allowing the sight before them to appear before her sight.
Reality came like a thunderclap and struck her so hard that Ah Shi's eyes rolled back, her body went limp, and she collapsed on the spot.
