Cassarae drove her sword through the back of President Gardner’s head, her blue aura pulsing wildly.

High in the skies, Sylas felt it when she crossed the barrier.

’Sparking Will…’

It was easy for Sylas to feel out such a thing, and he was quite impressed. Unlike him, Cassarae wasn’t able to go out and fight all the time. She had to meet very specific conditions to do so, even after upgrading to a Town.

Right now, she could leave for a day or so depending on circumstances. This time, they had just triggered a war so she could save that day for something else. There was definitely more room to maneuver when it was a time of war.

It was just unfortunate that not just anything could have war declared on them. Still, this new ability she gained as a Town would make things far more convenient though it likewise came with downsides.

If she lost the war, there would be an enormous effect on morale, and the loyalty of her subjects would also take a hit. But even if she kept winning, if she declared too many wars, then the same thing could occur.

There had to be a balance, unfortunately.

It was possible to shift the tides of that balance, but doing so would require special buildings and changing the culture of the Town as well. For example, Towns with strong military traditions, where children were born into training, were far more forgiving.

But by extension, that would require taking a hit on other things.

Cassarae’s city had always been ranked number one despite having poor military strength because she excelled in other things. She was very good at managing people, and she was usually only so willful with people she was close with.

Her tongue was sharp, and she wore her heart on her sleeve, and that seemed to make her very sensitive to when others were not, making it easier for her to read them than it otherwise might be.

Other than her slip up with the Seamstress back when she had only just become City Lady, she hadn’t made such a mistake again. There were very few others that could have stopped their city from crumbling under the assault of Gregory and his schemes.

Well… Aki, that is.

Unfortunately, until now, Sylas and Cassarae had no idea that Gregory had actually been Aki all this time—not that Cassarae knew who Aki was. But this was certainly something that Sylas would want to know…

Because why—if his goal was the Madness Disciple Inheritance all the while—would Aki spend so much time targeting Cassarae of all people?

Was it just to get close to Sylas? That was unlikely since he had only just found out that Sylas was the Madness Disciple he was looking for after the Drill Sergeant died.

Was it just for the sake of crippling Earth further? That was possible, but in that case what was so special about Cassarae that he had to ensure that she didn’t grow well?

Was it for the Luck necklace? He should have long since known that Legacy stole it away. Unless he was maybe waiting for another such Treasure to appear after Cassarae completed more of her Chain Quest?

Unfortunately, Sylas couldn’t think about any of these things without knowing that the two were one in the same in the first place. And just as unfortunately, the lack of this understanding just might come to bite him in the future.

What was good, though…

Cassarae’s aura began to change and the sword in her hand rose to the skies. There was a shimmering change to it as the latter evolved, its aura growing from a Bronze Grade Legendary Path Treasure to a Silver Grade one.

All at once, it was reset back to Level 0, but the Bronze Genes that Cassarae had fed it still pooled, forming its foundation.

With how many creatures Sylas had killed, including King Beasts, Cassarae had long raised her sword to Level 50. Ironically enough, it was probably one of the strongest weapons on Earth at just Bronze, maybe the strongest.

[Executioner’s Blade (Bronze)]

[Level: 50]

[+3000 Strength]

[Ability: Will Drain]

[Convert your Will into endless stamina and Constitution. You go as far as your Will does]

[Durability: N/A]

[Executioner’s Blade (Silver)]

[Level: 0]

[+1000 Strength]

[Ability: Will Drain]

[Convert your Will into endless stamina and Constitution. You go as far as your Will does]

[Durability: N/A]

It had lost +2000 Strength. And yet, the gap between it at Level 50 and Level 0 was still there. For it to already have +1000 Strength now, how much more shocking would it be later on down the line?

But it was Cassarae’s stats themselves that underwent the biggest change.

Huffing for breath, Cassarae showed Sylas her state page. He noticed several things immediately.

A striking lack of Genes. A striking lack of Skills. And, maybe most importantly to him, how did Cassarae have Sparking Will already, and yet be unable to break free of the 999 Will cap?

What was going on, exactly?

Sylas’ eyes narrowed. He looked at Cassarae’s Luck stat. It was high… or was it? Until now, this was only the second of them that he had seen.

Was it high? Or was his own Luck actually just stupidly low? Which was it?

And if it was high, this Class… was truly pushing Cassarae to increase her Luck as much as possible, and yet it still felt that it was too low even now?

A bloody crown appeared above Cassarae’s head.
