Game's Extra: Starting With SSS-Ranked 1000-Death Talent-Chapter 71: Steaks Are High
"What?" Sylas yelled. "What is this? Brother already killed someone in our new house."
It was hard to tell if his body trembled because of fear or excitement.
"You are stupid," Seren said, shaking her head. "They are still alive. He probably beat them up for crossing him. That’s my brother."
She sounded genuinely proud and excited, her hands lifted with happiness.
Noa laughed at their reactions.
Aeris did the same.
"Too bad both of you missed the mark. They are Noa’s friends, and don’t forget to act politely. We are hosts tonight and need to act like one," she said.
"But," Sylas tried to argue. "They look dead to me."
"They are asleep. I am trying to wake them. Can you two help me?" Noa corrected him and made a deal that both of them would be happy with.
No words were needed.
Seren and Sylas jumped with joy and followed Noa, striking Martha, Rika, and Ezra ruthlessly—their faces dancing with mischievous wonder.
This time, it was enough, as a deep yelp emerged from them one by one.
"W-what’s happening?" Ezra asked, massaging his forehead.
"What is this place?" Martha said in a trembling voice.
Even Rika seemed confused and scared, her expression darkening. "We are alive? But..."
She tried to find words.
It was a struggle, but seeing two unfamiliar kids hopping around her, she breathed a sigh of relief.
"This is my home. We had a slight inconvenience on the way, but none of that matters now. This is my family—siblings, to be more precise, and I hope you can get along," Noa explained.
His gentle words helped the confused trio calm their nerves.
They moved their necks in a circular motion, scanning the teens and Aeris with interest.
After regaining composure, they stood up from the floor.
"Hello! Thanks for having us," Rika said louder than usual, her head hanging low.
Martha experienced the same shyness, keeping her eyes on the floor.
Thankfully, Ezra quickly bonded with the children.
"Can you tell me how N—" Sylas was about to ask innocently, when he got spanked by Seren, interpreting his mistake.
"He wants to know how well our brother adjusted into the academy?"
She was the one to save the situation, getting a smile and thumbs up from Noa.
"Arthur?" Ezra started, but glanced at the real Arthur and resumed, "He got first rank in everything. We all feel that he is a model student. Personally, I think your brother is awesome."
"Really?" the twins exclaimed.
They seemed happy and proud at the same time, wanting to hear more.
"Sorry, guys, but we have stuff to do," Noa interrupted before something unforeseen actually happened.
Then Aeris came to his help.
"Let your brother do his thing. You guys help me unpack the bags."
Both of them dropped their arms in annoyance and hid their complaints under the wraps.
"They are so cute," Rika said, tracing her eyes towards the hunched backs. "You don’t seem like the older brother type."
"Exactly my thoughts." Ezra chimed in.
"What should we do?" Arthur asked, trying to change the subject.
But Noa’s eyes sparked, his mischievous grin sending chills down everyone who saw it.
"On the topic of siblings, our second Arthur has an older sister as well. She is the definition of a true beauty."
The words felt normal, but the way his brows narrowed was weird.
Still, he wasn’t done.
"Give me her phone number. We are friends, ri—"
Noa’s words were interrupted by a not-so-sudden punch to his face.
His nose started bleeding, the warmth turning his lips upward.
"Okay, okay. I got the hint," Noa said after cleaning his face with his sleeves. "But if you change your mind, you know how to find me."
If not for Ezra, another blow would have been delivered straight to his mouth.
"Stop fighting, please!" Martha pleaded, standing between them.
Noa snorted.
"I am done," he said and thought, ’For now.’
Then he pointed towards the gray door and began walking in its direction.
"Come with me. I have a cool place for a hideout."
The teammates glanced at each other and ran after him.
Seeing their expectations, Noa said, showing the lower floor.
"It’s going to be my base, practice ground, and just a place to hang out."
The dark room appeared before them, displaying empty walls, shelves, and a floor.
It was a clean, huge, but lonely hall.
Yet the potential it carried warmed Noa’s heart.
"With your strength," Rika started. "It will be destroyed in a single fight."
"I am going to add protection throughout the house so it can withstand my might," Noa admitted with a smile.
Now that they were far from Noa’s siblings, Ezra asked the question everyone wanted to ask.
"And what the hell happened there? Who and why did they attack us?"
"They were after me. Sorry for getting you tangled with my problems, but don’t worry, I already dealt with them and my revenge is brewing," Noa answered.
He knew Dusk would investigate the scene and find the culprits.
However, the next question caught him off guard.
"You knocked us out, right?" Martha questioned. "Why did you do that?"
’She has sharp senses,’ Noa mused, noting her observation. ’But who the hell is she? She is more likely an average extra, but how come I have never heard of her?’
Then he gave a quick explanation.
"As I said, I didn’t want you guys to get caught with my problems."
Arthur said nothing.
He was as stoic as always, hiding behind the wall he had elected.
Noa saw his silence.
’What a bummer. Bro doesn’t even try to make my life difficult,’ he thought.
The next couple of hours flashed quickly.
Noa ordered a takeout, and feeling generous, he paid for high-class steak and stuffed everyone with high-quality meat.
It cost him $600, including the portions for his siblings.
He also saw even more expensive options with monster meat, which was great for a healthy lifestyle, as they contained a magic protein that the average food didn’t have.
Noa planned to add them to his family’s daily diet.
As for the team, everyone had a good time.
They got closer to each other, which allowed them to feel more confident in Abyss at each other’s mercy.
Noa had his plans with Arnold and class in general, anticipating the next day.
But even at night, he couldn’t rest.
His doorbell rang, his visitors being the entire Red Order.
