Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 94 - 55: Fire in the Backyard
The Insect Clan, Royal Palace.
Shi Yi had failed his mission. He dragged his battered body to an audience with the Insect Emperor.
He ran into Anubia along the way. As they passed each other, Shi Yi, for some unknown reason, stopped in his tracks. He turned to look back at the young man, the corners of his lips curling into a malicious smirk.
"I saw that little female of yours. She’s quite the looker~"
Anubia had intended to ignore Shi Yi as usual, but those words made him whip his head around. He seized Shi Yi by the collar and slammed him against the wall.
His gaze was dark and cold. "Did you! Did you lay a hand on her?"
"Heh, just as I thought. You really do care about that little female, don’t you~"
Ever since Anubia had returned a few months ago, he had been completely distracted. He was sent to capture a female, but instead, it seemed he had lost his own Divine Soul in the process. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎
Shi Yi was thoroughly contemptuous. "To get so infatuated with a female... you’re a true disgrace to the Insect Clan. Did that little female please you so well in bed that you can’t leave her now...?"
Anubia’s face flushed. "Shut up. Answer my question. Did you or did you not lay a hand on her?"
"I was originally going to bring her back to you as a little treat, but that female is just too cunning. She slipped away." Shi Yi clutched the bleeding stump of his incomplete right arm, his face pale. He sighed faintly. "Your precious little female didn’t even lose a single hair on her head, yet I almost died there. You could at least show a little concern for your third brother, you know."
Anubia let him go with an annoyed expression. "Don’t try to get chummy. We’re not blood-related."
The Insect King had no biological children.
This was something everyone in the Insect Clan was well aware of.
The princes under his command were merely his publicly chosen heirs.
"What’s the point of capturing so many females? Can he really not produce an heir?" Anubia’s gaze turned toward the Royal Palace, his eyes cold.
The Insect Clan had no females of its own and was forced to raid the Beastman for them, but the Beastman guarded their females very closely.
With female resources being so scarce, they were all forced to be supplied to the Insect King for his exclusive pleasure.
And yet, he couldn’t even produce an heir. It was a complete waste.
"Who knows~" Shi Yi said with a nonchalant smile. He casually grabbed a passing member of the Insect Clan, killed them without hesitation, and removed their Crystal Core before eating it.
In the blink of an eye, his severed right arm rapidly grew back, good as new.
"Well, if he really can’t produce one, then we should just let someone else do it~"
Shi Yi raised an eyebrow, a smile playing on his lips as he looked at Anubia. "As your third brother, let me tell you a piece of good news. That little female is near the Yaxili Strait right now. She shouldn’t have gotten far. If you want to find her, you probably still can."
Anubia looked down, silent and unresponsive, as if he hadn’t heard a thing.
Before leaving, Shi Yi bumped his shoulder.
"She said she misses you~"
The moment Shi Yi entered the Royal Palace, Anubia vanished.
...
Yaxili Strait.
The vast coastline gradually fell behind them.
"This is such a long way. How long will it take to get there?" Sang Luo plopped onto the ground, pulled out a leather flask, and took a few gulps of water. Her feet were aching from all the walking.
Duotu chuckled. "Well, who told you to run so far? It’ll take at least two days to get back."
Sang Luo wanted to argue that she could just use Space Jumping to get back, but she didn’t want him to ask how she got that Talent Ability. She pursed her lips. "I refuse to believe that a magnificent Prince of the Empire can’t send someone to pick us up."
"The military district is too busy; they can’t spare the manpower. We shouldn’t bother others with such a small matter."
"...Hmph." ’Don’t think I can’t see right through him. He just wants to spend a few more days alone with me out here.’
"Tired of walking? How about I carry you?"
"No way, that’s too cheesy. I’m not a kid."
Before she could finish her sentence, Duotu scooped her up by the waist and carried her, walking with incredible ease.
Sang Luo loosely draped her arms around his neck and leaned against his chest, unable to suppress a thought—’This man’s physique really is tall, agile, and powerful.’
As evening fell, Duotu found a cave for them to rest in.
The cave had been prepared in advance. He set Sang Luo down on a stone with a smooth-cut surface, then crouched down to rub her feet. He murmured with a soft sigh, "You really are delicate. You only walked a few miles and already have blisters. I really don’t know how you managed to run this far!"
"It’s a secret," Sang Luo said, then asked, "Do you have any paper and a pen?"
"I do."
Duotu often handled paperwork, so he usually carried such things. He retrieved a pen and paper from his spatial storage and handed them to her. "What are you going to do?"
"I encountered the Insect Clan in the ocean. Some of them are amphibious and can go underwater. They plunder females from the Sea Clan as well, but this time was different from before. This time, it seemed like they were planning to... sacrifice the females? I saw them using this kind of Array. Take a look." Sang Luo drew the Array and handed it to him.
