Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 68 - 41: You’re Just a Fabricated Replacement
Flanked by several male Beastmen, a graceful and elegant noble female approached. She glanced at Sang Luo’s belly and smiled with polite deference. "I am Martha Brent. I have long heard of the esteemed noble female Sang Luo but have never had the chance to meet. I was wondering if you would do me the honor of joining me for a meal?"
’Another person offering a free meal.’
Sang Luo’s agreement was exceptionally brisk. "It would be rude to refuse!" 𝓯𝓻𝓮𝙚𝙬𝓮𝙗𝒏𝙤𝒗𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Glen Tuya stared at her in shock. ’Didn’t we just finish eating? How is she hungry again so soon?’
"And me?" He scratched his head, feeling a bit left out.
"Tuya, you barely ate anything. Come with us. You don’t have any classes this afternoon anyway, so you’re free."
Martha Brent glanced between the two of them. "I’ve already had a table reserved, so please, come along. The more the merrier."
Since someone else was treating and nobles certainly didn’t lack the money, Sang Luo ordered with absolutely no reservations. She focused on the meat dishes, eating with such gusto that her mouth shone with grease. She had none of the poise of a noble female; anyone who didn’t know better might have thought Caesar was mistreating her.
Martha Brent glanced again at Sang Luo’s belly, which her maternity clothes could barely contain, and chuckled behind her hand. "...This child’s aptitude is sure to be exceptional."
As a member of the carnivorous Black Panther Clan, she knew that the more one ate during pregnancy, the more energy the fetus required. In most cases, that meant its aptitude would be greater.
"Who knows? We’ll see when they’re born. I’m not too concerned about aptitude. Whatever their aptitude or bloodline, they’ll be my child."
Martha Brent’s envy was plain to see. "Ah, you’re truly incredible, getting pregnant with a King Beast’s child so quickly. Even if this baby is just a Mixed Blood Beast, as long as that great one’s genes are dominant, their aptitude won’t be too shabby. I can’t imagine how many noble heirs are fighting for a marriage alliance with you..."
"Not necessarily. If they saw how much I can eat, they’d probably have second thoughts."
"Haha, a good appetite is a blessing. If they can’t even provide for their own cubs, what use are they?"
After eating and drinking her fill, Sang Luo leaned back in her chair, chatting idly with Martha Brent.
’She doesn’t have the typical arrogance of a noble female,’ Sang Luo thought. ’She’s very pleasant to be around. Of course, it could just be that she has an incredibly high EQ and is exceptionally smooth. Either way, my first impression of her is quite good. It’s best to be on good terms if possible; it wouldn’t hurt to make a few friends I can have a real conversation with.’
A small white figure darted past in a flash. Sang Luo paused as the sound of frantic footsteps echoed from outside the door.
Several burly male Beastmen ran over, their expressions anxious. But upon seeing two noble females in the private room, the leader’s face filled with a mixture of fear and reverence. "Pardon the intrusion, noble females. Have either of you seen a suspicious person come in here?"
Martha Brent shook her head. "No."
Glen Tuya and Martha’s companions also indicated they had seen nothing.
Sang Luo retracted her extended spiritual power and glanced under the tablecloth. A faint smile played on her lips. "I haven’t seen anyone either."
"Ah, thank you, thank you so much. Our apologies for the disturbance. You lot! Go search over there."
Not daring to disturb them further, the Beastmen left in a hurry.
Before leaving, Sang Luo reached under the table and cradled the trembling white rabbit in her arms.
Martha Brent gasped. "How did a rabbit get in here? Is it a Beastman, or...?"
Glen Tuya said in surprise, "It looks like a wild animal that hasn’t gained sentience. Beastmen wouldn’t normally shift into their beast form in this kind of situation. It must be a wild rabbit that wandered in by mistake, got scared by all the people, and hid under the table."
Sang Luo nodded, stroking the soft fur of the white rabbit in her arms. The Rabbit Beast’s tense body slowly relaxed.
"My Lady, I finally found you! You were gone so long, I was worried something had happened!" Leon burst in through the curtained doorway. His gaze fell upon the snow-white rabbit in Sang Luo’s arms, and his leopard-like eyes instantly lit up. "Whoa, where’d this rabbit come from? Let’s have roast rabbit tonight!"
’My Lady is so thoughtful! She knew I’ve been working so hard lately that she even thought to get me a treat!’
The rabbit’s fur suddenly bristled. It jumped up and, BAM! BAM!, landed two punches on him.
Leon was stupefied. "It’s-it’s-it’s... a Beastman?"
Sang Luo shook her head. "I don’t know. I just found it."
The white rabbit hopped out onto the courtyard lawn and began to nibble contentedly on the grass.
"Looks like this little rabbit isn’t too fond of you," Sang Luo said, walking outside. She scooped the rabbit back into her arms and gave it a gentle rub. "It seems it really is a Low Rank Star Beast that wandered in by mistake. I suppose it’s fate. I’ll take it home and keep it."
