Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 454 - 393: Hope
Sang Luo grew suspicious. "Where’s Yan? Where did he go?"
"Missing him already, Little Luoruo?" Fei Yuan lowered his head and took a deep sniff of her neck, his brow furrowing deeply. "Hmph! You’re covered in that old fox’s scent!"
Sang Luo slapped his hand away. "Stop messing around. I’m being serious. I didn’t see him when I woke up this morning, and I’ve had this heavy feeling in my chest..." 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
"Don’t overthink it. That old fox comes and goes like a shadow, and no one can ever figure out what he’s thinking. He probably had other business to attend to. He’ll come see you once he’s finished."
Sang Luo nodded, putting it out of her mind.
Yan hadn’t given her a mate mark, but she wasn’t going to be overly suspicious of him. She was just a little wistful. "He left in such a hurry. He could have at least said something beforehand to put my mind at ease."
"Anubia is at the Phoenix Palace with the children. Shouldn’t you hurry back to see them?"
"Right, I almost forgot the most important thing! Let’s hurry back. I have to give the Divine Lotus Fruit to the little spider!" Sang Luo immediately pushed all thoughts of Yan from her mind.
"So now you’re in a hurry," Fei Yuan chuckled, concealing a trace of sorrow deep in his eyes.
...
The two returned to the Phoenix Palace.
Anubia had been waiting for a long time.
He had spent the last few years trying every method imaginable to treat the little spider, but with little success, leaving him far more haggard than his once high-spirited self. When he saw Sang Luo return, a rare smile bloomed on his handsome face, but his tone was as snarky as ever. "You faithless female. So you finally decided to come back."
"I was away on important business. Our child can be saved."
"Mommy! Can our little brother really be saved?"
Three small, colorful butterflies fluttered their sparkling wings, landing on Sang Luo’s head, the tip of her nose, and her finger. The scene was as magical as a fairy tale.
Sang Luo chuckled and gently stroked their beautiful little wings. "My sweet babies, did you miss Mommy?"
The environment in the Star Vortex Insect Nest was better suited for the growth and development of young Insect Clan members. Anubia desperately wanted to stay by Sang Luo’s side and vie for her affection, but for the children’s sake, he had spent most of the past few years in the Star Vortex Insect Nest.
As a result, he and the children rarely saw Sang Luo, spending far more time apart than together.
The little black flash butterfly spoke in a clear, boyish voice, "Mommy, my name is Taiya~"
"My name is Mos! You have to remember it, Mommy!" The little silver-gray butterfly flew from the tip of Sang Luo’s nose to the back of her hand. It flapped its wings, scattering a fine layer of dust from its scales.
Sang Luo couldn’t help but yawn. A faint red mark instantly appeared on the back of her hand where the dust had settled. The corner of her lip twitched. ’I almost forgot! These kids are highly venomous butterflies!’
Soon, the red mark faded away. ’Who would’ve thought,’ she mused, ’that the greatest use for my Divine Poison Body would be simply getting along safely with these children.’
"And you, my beautiful little one, what’s your name?" Sang Luo asked, looking at the little platinum flash butterfly in her other palm.
The little female butterfly was far more delicate than her two brothers. Her beautiful, pale wings were somewhat translucent, refracting the light and sparkling with brilliant golden flecks.
A soft, girlish voice replied, "My name is Sen Chuan~"
"Little Senchuan, you’re so cute!" Sang Luo said, stroking her two little white antennae.
Little Senchuan shyly pulled her antennae back.
"Mommy... I... I’m Yolanda..." a weak, childlike voice called out, full of hope and a hint of anxiety.
Sang Luo turned to look at the little black-and-gold spider cradled in Anubia’s palm.
The little spider was overjoyed to see Sang Luo and wanted to cuddle with his mommy, but his body was too weak. He trembled, trying several times to stand, only to collapse back into the palm, panting softly. He used his front pair of legs to cover his face, feeling ashamed and dejected.
’I’m so weak, WAHHH.’
’I’m not as pretty as my brother and sister, my power is low, and my body is weak.’
’Mommy will definitely despise me.’
"Yolanda, my poor child..." Sang Luo stepped forward and took the little spider from Anubia’s hand. She gently stroked his small body with her index finger, her voice full of compassion.
Sensing his mommy didn’t despise him, the little spider mustered his strength and gently nuzzled her finger, as if trying to win her favor.
This made Sang Luo’s heart ache even more. She took out the Divine Lotus Fruit. As soon as the little spider caught the scent of the fruit, he visibly perked up.
"Eat this, my sweet baby. It will cure your illness."
"Th-thank you, Mommy!" The little spider carefully hugged the fruit with its eight legs and took a small bite, and then another.
It took him a full half-hour to finish the fruit, which was even bigger than he was.
Afterward, the little spider closed his eyes and fell motionless into a deep sleep.
A faint, tri-colored, illusory light began to emanate from his body.
Sang Luo and Anubia held their breath. Fei Yuan did as well, narrowing his long, slender phoenix eyes and staring intently as the tri-colored light slowly converged, as if he were waiting for something...
After an unknown amount of time, the tri-colored light solidified into a physical object. It was a... seed!?
Sang Luo reached out and took the seed. She examined it from every angle but couldn’t find anything special about it.
Fei Yuan let out a huge sigh of relief. "Thank goodness!"
"What do you mean, ’thank goodness’? Is this the seed from the Divine Lotus Fruit?" Sang Luo asked, turning to look at him.
Fei Yuan smiled and nodded. "You guessed right, Little Luoruo. May I have the seed? I have another use for it."
Sang Luo gave him the seed.
Fei Yuan explained, "The Divine Lotus Tree used the last of its life force to produce that fruit, then it withered away. Now that a new seed for the Divine Lotus Tree has appeared, it means there’s hope for its revival. If the Divine Lotus Tree can be revived, then perhaps the other living beings of the Desolate Domain can be as well."
The hope was slim, but it was hope nonetheless—a sign of future life and vitality.
"This Desolate Domain you speak of... is it the legendary Heavenly Realm?"
"Oh? You even know about that, Luo’er?"
"I heard it from Minos. He was only guessing, but since Yan successfully brought back the Divine Lotus Fruit, it must mean the Heavenly Realm truly does exist."
Anubia didn’t know much about these matters and found their conversation confusing. He gave up trying to listen and turned his attention back to his son.
「Three full days passed.」
None of them had been able to sleep.
The little spider slowly began to stir, blinking his eyes in a daze. "Mommy, Daddy, Uncle Phoenix..."
"Little Yolanda, how are you feeling?" Sang Luo asked gently.
"I feel so light~ My body is full of energy!" The little spider tried to get up. He took one wobbly step forward, then another. When he tried to go faster, he accidentally tumbled onto the table, but he scrambled right back up and continued practicing, his gait growing more and more proficient.
Sang Luo extended a wisp of green energy from her fingertip, sending it into his body to check on him. ’His Crystal Core is almost fully developed.’
’His body is still a bit weak, though. He’ll need to recover slowly.’
Sang Luo was greatly relieved.
She rubbed her forehead as a wave of sleepiness washed over her. "I should go get some proper sleep, too."
Anubia grabbed one of Sang Luo’s hands and kissed her on the cheek. "I should take the children and head back for now," he said, reluctant to leave. "I’ll come back for you next time."
Fei Yuan grabbed Sang Luo’s other hand, pulling her toward him. A smirk played on his lips. "Since you live so far away, don’t bother running back and forth. It makes no difference whether you’re here or not. I’ll take good care of Luo’er."
Anubia’s face darkened, and his fists clenched. If it weren’t for the fact that this Phoenix had helped save his son, he would have started a fight with him on the spot.
Sang Luo yawned and shot them both a warning look. "I’m going to sleep. You two, behave. If either of you disturbs my rest, I’ll skin you alive!"
The two of them instantly fell into line.
After Sang Luo had left, Anubia asked Fei Yuan, "What about that Divine Venerable? Didn’t he come back with Luoluo?"
