Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 404 - 343: An Unreasonable Man
"Like hell I will!" Sang Luo bit down hard on his arm.
Biya grunted in pain, flipping her over and pinning her to the sofa. Through gritted teeth, he snarled, "You crazy female! Have you got any sense at all?!"
"You know I’m a psycho, yet you keep showing up in front of me. Aren’t you just asking to get hurt? So who’s the stupid one, you or me!" Sang Luo glared at him viciously.
Biya was rendered speechless, his gaze growing so cold it seemed he wanted to slice her into a thousand pieces.
Sang Luo couldn’t care less how much he hated her. She aimed a kick at his crotch, but Biya caught her ankle just in time. As they separated slightly, Sang Luo quickly pulled a gun from her Qiankun Bag and aimed for his heart. Biya said coldly, "I didn’t come here to fight you!"
Sang Luo’s finger paused on the trigger. She raised an eyebrow at him. "Don’t tell me you’re here to help me?"
"I can take you to whatever you’re looking for in the base," he said after a pause.
Sang Luo narrowed her eyes, studying his expression to see if he was lying.
Biya sneered. "If I’d really wanted you dead, you wouldn’t have had the chance to say a word to me on the day we first met."
Sang Luo lowered her gun. "I need to go to the Zone One base. I can’t get in without the key. I don’t need your escort, just give me the key."
"But I want to escort you personally."
"You’ve got nothing better to do? Why are you following me?"
"To see what you’re up to. Is that a problem?"
"..."
Sang Luo shoved him away.
Biya rolled off the sofa, and Sang Luo got up as well.
Their clothes were disheveled. Anyone who didn’t know better might have thought they’d been up to something on the sofa. In reality, they were sick of the sight of each other.
According to her original plan, she had seven days left. Sang Luo didn’t want to alert the enemy, so she had intended to maintain her previous pace, infiltrating the base and investigating area by area.
From the outside, the Zone One base looked about the same size as the Zone 3 base.
But inside, a whole new world opened up.
Hidden within was an enclosed space that led underground. Stepping inside revealed a long corridor. There wasn’t a single lamp; it was completely dark, grim, and damp. Their feet occasionally squelched in sticky mud, and a strange smell permeated the air.
Even though it was an enclosed space, the sound of WHOOSHING wind could be heard from time to time, mixed with a strange melody that sounded like crying.
Goosebumps rose on Sang Luo’s skin. She subconsciously moved closer to the man beside her, wanting to grab his arm, but then she remembered his identity and pulled her hand back. However, he grabbed her wrist first, pulling her over to his side.
"You..." They were too close. Sang Luo could smell his scent—bold yet aloof, like cedarwood.p>
"Shh, keep your voice down. Don’t let the people outside hear."
Sang Luo held her tongue and swallowed her words.
They slowed their pace.
Biya watched her from the side. The darkness had no effect on the vision of the Insect Clan. He had habitually remained in his human form in front of Sang Luo. His gray pupils contracted slightly, and his lowered gaze fell upon the woman’s soft, delicate profile and her fair, smooth shoulders.
He gripped her soft, slender hand, which was a full size smaller than his palm. He could easily envelop it, freely enjoying its warmth and softness.
For some reason, his mouth felt dry, and his gaze grew more feverish.
His mating season was approaching. His body had become exceptionally sensitive, and the slightest touch could easily trigger a certain kind of impulse.
Sang Luo had been observing her surroundings and didn’t notice the change in the man beside her. Suddenly, she stopped in her tracks.
Biya stopped too.
"What is it?"
"Did you hear that? That sound... it’s getting clearer... and louder..."
There was no telling how long the dark corridor was, and they couldn’t see the end. But they could clearly sense that they were getting closer and closer to that "thing."
Sang Luo could hear it clearly now. It wasn’t the wind, nor was it crying. It was a sound wave produced by some colossal creature.
"It" seemed to be in a state of extreme excitement. The sound waves it emitted were disorienting, causing a tightness in one’s chest. It was easy to be affected by them.
Biya glanced in that direction, then looked away. "A tender little Beast Clan female like you, if thrown to the ’Baru God’ to eat, probably wouldn’t even be enough to get stuck in its teeth."
"...So you’ve seen the ’Baru God’."
"Haven’t seen it. But I’m interested. I want to take a look."
’No wonder he insisted on tagging along. Our objectives are the same.’
Biya’s gaze was probing. "But what do you want with this thing?"
"None of your business."
"Heh. It seems your mission is to find this thing. And after you find it?"
"...Why are you asking so many questions."
Sang Luo couldn’t be bothered to waste any more words on him. Of course, that was also because she herself wasn’t sure what the "Baru God" was, or if it had any connection to the Control Center.
Biya stopped talking and pulled her forward by the arm. Sang Luo tried to break free but couldn’t, so she just let him drag her along.
As they went deeper, a faint light appeared, and their vision cleared. Sang Luo saw that the man’s cold, roguish expression had vanished, replaced by a grave look.
A blurry, translucent mass of flesh was contained within a massive transparent tank. It writhed madly, constantly changing its form—sometimes resembling a person, other times an animal, its shape and figure bizarre.
A circular maw opened on its top, filled with layer upon layer of dense fangs.
Countless tubes extended from its body, pumping something into it.
Looking closer, those tubes were actually countless tentacles it had extended, which were attached to the tank.
The inside of the tank was a double-layered transport channel. Below it was another transparent storage container, filled with Planet Energy Crystals.
A continuous stream of energy from the planet was being funneled into this monster known as the "Baru God," causing it to grow and expand before their very eyes as its body split off writhing balls of flesh.
The moment the balls of flesh came into contact with the air, they grew wildly, sprouting limbs and transforming into bizarre monsters as tall as a human thigh in just a few short minutes.
The "Baru God," sealed within its massive container, had not yet noticed the approach of the two tiny humanoid creatures.
The bracelet was pointing in this direction.
Straight at a round crystal inside its body.
’This is the best chance to destroy the Control Center!’
Sang Luo took out a miniature bomb. It was a device she had specifically asked Lou Xianyue to create using highly concentrated Spiritual Power. It was powerful enough to deal a fatal blow to this monster, blasting it into a puddle of gore!
A sudden force struck her arm.
Sang Luo’s grip loosened. An instant before the bomb hit the ground, it flew into Biya’s hand.
"What are you doing?" Sang Luo looked at him in shock.
Biya’s eyes burned with intensity as he stared at the Baru God and the countless Planet Energy Crystals below it. "Something this interesting... I think I’ll keep it for some slow, careful study."
"No! I have to destroy the Control Center! Give me back the bomb!"
Biya glanced back at her, a smirk playing on his lips. "I never said I was going to help you, did I?"
