Chapter 39: Chapter 24: The Insect Clan Again

The tribe had never had a female join the Hunting Team before. After all, females were delicate, and most didn’t have superpowers. Any casualties among them would be a huge loss for the entire tribe. Even with a female from an outside tribe, the priority should be protection.

The Clan Leader of the Thousand Elephant Tribe had originally been against it.

Sang Luo argued for it repeatedly, even saying she had seen the High-level Insect Race before and had a good eye for spotting camouflaged Insect Beasts.

Considering she could even eliminate the Insect Clan, the Clan Leader figured a Beast Tide probably couldn’t harm her either. So, he turned a blind eye and agreed.

「Outside the tribe.」

「In the lush, primeval forest.」

Sang Luo, geared up in armor and carrying a Bow and Arrow Bag, leaped nimbly onto a boulder with a wooden bow in hand.

Among the crowd of tall, burly Beastmen, such a petite and beautiful female looked completely out of place.

Not far away, Tu Zhu was in utter disbelief. ’She’s actually still alive!’

Sang Luo noticed the slimy gaze too. She looked back and met his eyes. ’It seems Tu Zhu got quite a few good things from the Clan Leader’s noble female,’ she thought. ’It’s only been half a month, and he’s already reached the Sixth Rank.’

He was surrounded by several Fifth Rank Beastmen and another Sixth Rank Beastman.

As if they had never seen such a beautiful little female, nor had they ever worked with a female on the Hunting Team, the gazes of these young, hot-blooded Male Beasts were all fixed on Sang Luo—some were amazed, while others were full of scorn and disdain.

"What were the Clan Leader and Elders thinking, putting a little female on the Hunting Team? Hunting is already dangerous enough, and we can barely look after ourselves. Now we have to constantly look after this female who’ll just drag us down. We’re just asking for trouble!"

"From what the Clan Leader said, not only do we have to look after her every step of the way, but we also have to follow her orders!"

The other Sixth Rank Beastman next to Tu Zhu scoffed. "You’ve got to be kidding me. Taking orders from a female on a hunt? Has the Clan Leader gone senile?"

Sang Luo swept a cool glance over these troublemakers.

’They’re all part of Tu Zhu’s gang of cronies,’ she mused. ’They’re all in it together. I wouldn’t believe for a second that Tu Zhu didn’t secretly put them up to this.’

Male Beasts were obsessed with females, but mostly just for their Fertility. In all other aspects, they looked down on the weaker females.

"Hey, little female, why don’t you hide behind us? We’ll protect you. We won’t ask for much—just mate with us and give us a few litters of cubs." Someone in the crowd guffawed.

"Mm, alright," Sang Luo said, her eyes curving into crescents as a smile played on her red lips.

The uproar in the crowd stopped instantly. The troublemakers were captivated by her smile, their faces showing a hint of infatuation.

Tu Zhu stared at her as well, his narrow eyes squinting.

Sang Luo plucked the slightly tight string of her bow. "But it’s not so easy to catch my eye. How about this? You and I have a match. If you win, I’ll give you a cub?"

She pulled an arrow from a beast-hide pouch, drew her bowstring, and aimed at the Bear Beast who had laughed the loudest.

The feathered arrow shot out in an instant. The Male Beast was so startled he broke out in a cold sweat and scrambled to dodge, but the arrow wasn’t aimed at him. It merely grazed a lock of his hair before striking a Poisonous Snake Star Beast a hundred meters away.

It was hard to say whether it was due to the arrow or the Star Beast’s failed ambush, but the Bear Beast was drenched in a cold sweat!

Someone ran over to check the Star Beast’s corpse. The wound was wreathed in lightning—a fatal blow!

"Not even a Fifth Rank Beastman could pull that off. How are you so strong?"

’Whether it’s her proficiency with her Talent Power or the accuracy of that shot, this female can’t be underestimated!’

Sang Luo lowered her bow, jumped down from the boulder, and looked with a smile at the dumbstruck Bear Beast. "You were so close and didn’t even sense the danger. Sorry, you’re too weak. You’re not worthy of my attention."

The Bear Beast’s face turned beet-red with shame and anger. He wished he could just crawl into a hole and disappear.

"Haha, Amanni! You can’t even compare to a little female, and you dared to ask her to bear your cubs? I’d say it’s more likely you’ll be the one bearing them for her!" someone else laughed even louder.

Utterly humiliated, Amanni transformed into his beast form and ran off.

"Little female, why not stick with us?" The one who spoke was a white-haired Snow Owl Beastman. "We can watch each other’s backs. We don’t want anything from you, we swear!" This group seemed much friendlier.

"No need. Just do what you’ve always done and focus on your own tasks. I can protect myself."

With that, Sang Luo went to the front of the party and focused on slaying Star Beasts.

The commotion only lasted for a moment. Soon, the Beastmen threw themselves into the battle, becoming completely absorbed.
