Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 376 - 315: The True Master
Minos pulled out his sword, and blood gushed forth. The wound on Oria’s chest instantly healed, good as new.
"I’d like to see if this regeneration of yours is truly infinite under the constraints of time."
A blinding golden light, brilliant as the sun, flashed past. No one could see what happened as the two vanished without a trace.
The air inside the Holy Hall was dead silent—so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Everyone held their breath, each with their own thoughts.
Everyone stared, transfixed, at the spot where the two had disappeared. Time seemed to freeze. It felt like an eternity, but in reality, only a brief moment passed before a crack appeared in the air.
No one knew what had transpired within the Domain in that single instant, but a blood-drenched head flew out from the crack.
THUD!
It landed on the floor.
It sent a wide spray of blood spattering onto the robes of the onlookers.
The face was pressed against the floor, obscuring its features. The long, matted golden hair was caked with sticky, foul blood, its original color almost indiscernible. Everyone, the Archbishop included, was screaming internally. They trembled violently, but in their immense terror, they were utterly voiceless.
Then the head rolled, turning over to reveal a twisted, horrifying, bloody face. Its identity was faintly recognizable...
The rift opened again, and a tall, slender male figure appeared before them. His golden, divine wings, like an incarnation of glorious light, folded the instant he stepped out of the Domain. The deep night in his eyes receded, revealing serene, clear blue irises.
Everyone fell to their knees uncontrollably, pressing their foreheads to the floor in prostration.
Their voices were one, perfectly synchronized.
"We welcome you, our Lord!"
The true master of the Holy Hall had been decided. It was now clear who the supreme being in control of the Holy Domain truly was!
The severed head was wrapped in a white cloth by servants, carried away, and thrown into the charnel grounds of the Holy Domain. The bloodstains on the floor were also swiftly cleaned by Servants.
The Archbishop brought a basin of clean Water and a white cloth. Minos carefully wiped the blood from his hands. His indifferent, translucent blue eyes revealed no emotion. He simply wiped them again and again, tirelessly, until his palms were almost rubbed raw.
Minos waved his hand, and everyone withdrew.
In the desolate, empty Holy Hall, pale moonlight spilled over the young man. Suddenly, he clutched his chest and coughed up a great mouthful of blood.
A vicious light surged in the young man’s eyes, one he struggled to suppress. His vision grew twisted and blurry, and his ears filled with the howls of Fierce Ghosts. It was as if countless black hands were clawing at the air before him, plucking at his fragile nerves...
Remembering Oria’s last words before his beheading, Minos squeezed his eyes shut, then forced them open. He turned and went to the forbidden area of the Holy Hall.
He erected a barrier outside the forbidden area, one that not only prevented others from entering but also kept himself from leaving.
He shed his blood-soaked clothes and stepped, naked and perfect, into a clear pool. The pure essence of the holy pool slowly began the Purification of the turbulent power within him, but it was still far from enough.
Minos forcibly suppressed that power. The meridians throughout his body felt as if they would explode. His skin flushed crimson, veins bulging, as his breathing grew heavy and chaotic. An expression of pure agony twisted his face.
’I have to think about Luoluo and the child... I can’t let them see me like this... I have to go back to the way I was...’
Meanwhile, Sang Luo was struck by a wave of heart-pounding anxiety.
She quickly identified the source of this anxiety.
"Minos, are you okay? Has something happened?"
Her voice was laced with worry.
After a long pause, he slowly replied, his voice raspy with an exhaustion he couldn’t hide, "Oria is dead. I still have some things to clean up here. I’ll come get you after a while. Are you having a good time there?"
"I’m going to the North of the East Continent for a few days. I’ll bring you back some local specialties when I return, things I’m sure you’ve never tried before."
"Alright. Have fun." His voice held its usual gentle warmth, but he lowered his head to look at the terrifying black patterns spreading from his chest.
"Your voice sounds off. Are you really okay? Don’t hide things from me! If you do, it will only make me worry more."
"...I’ve run into some trouble. The situation isn’t good. I can’t see you right now."
"You need someone to take care of you! I’m coming back to the Holy Hall!"
"There’s no need, Luoluo. I’ve monopolized you for too long, and you haven’t been back to the Beast World Continent in ages. Go spend more time with your other Beast Husbands." He was the very picture of magnanimity, his deep, pleasant voice holding a hint of a playful smile. "And don’t underestimate a male’s pride. It’s one thing for me to suffer alone, but it would be even more painful to have you see me like this."
"...Hmph. Useless pride. So, what can I do for you right now?" 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
Hearing the frustration in her voice, the turmoil within Minos gradually subsided. His gaze, fixed on the empty air before him, softened. It was as if he could see her with her head lowered, tears welling in her eyes—worried sick, but her words still as sharp as ever.
"As long as you and the child are safe and well, I’ll have no other worries. If you’re willing, just talking with me would be enough. Have you encountered anything interesting along the way? Could you share it with me?"
Sang Luo began to tell him about the interesting things she’d seen and some of the unlucky things that had happened.
Minos listened quietly, her voice by turns happy, then annoyed, then bright and witty...
Listening to her vivid descriptions, he could imagine the sights of her journey, as if he were right there beside her, traveling with her.
The darkness in his eyes slowly receded.
Sang Luo talked for a long time before letting out a yawn, her voice now tinged with drowsiness.
Minos gently told her to get some rest.
Just as the call was about to end, Sang Luo said softly, "Love you, father of my child. The baby and I are both thinking of you! So, you have to be okay!"
Minos froze for a moment, then a smile touched his lips. "...Thank you for your concern, Luoluo. But could you call me something else?"
"Hm? You don’t like it?" Sang Luo blinked in confusion.
"I do. But I’d like to hear other names, too."
It clicked for her. In a syrupy-sweet voice, she asked, "Hubby, darling, sweetheart, my dear, beloved partner... which one would you like to hear?"
"All of them. You can call me a different one each day."
"What about today?"
"Start with the first one."
Hearing the faint smile coloring his calm voice, Sang Luo blushed. She had many Beast Husbands, and it felt like they’d been together forever, but she’d never really called them such... intimate names before.
A soft cough came from his end, as if he were suppressing immense pain. "Luoluo, if there’s nothing else, I’m going into seclusion for now. I don’t know when we’ll meet again..."
Sang Luo whispered the word, her voice a sweet, soft murmur.
Minos smiled, completely satisfied.
’He wanted her to always call him that.’
’In bed, too, calling him that in a voice that would drive any male wild.’
Minos closed his eyes, spread his arms, and allowed himself to sink slowly to the bottom of the pool.
...
"What are you spacing out for?"
Fei Yuan’s voice snapped Sang Luo out of her daze.
Sang Luo watched as the rolling mountain range was gradually covered in ice and snow, the endless green and gray slowly turning to white. "Are we almost there?"
"Almost. We’ve still got a few hours to go. You should get some sleep; I’ll wake you when we arrive."
Fei Yuan wasn’t in a hurry, flying at a leisurely pace and enjoying the scenery along the way.
Sang Luo lay on his beast form and slowly drifted off to sleep.
She had a dream.
