"What are you thinking about? You’re so distracted. The High Priest didn’t give you a hard time, did she?" Duoji teased with a smile. She was wearing a loose, silk maternity dress, and her steps seemed a little unsteady.

Pamir was carefully supporting her, afraid she might stumble and fall.

Sang Luo glanced down. Duoji had gotten a little rounder recently, her figure appearing fuller and more robust. Her belly had grown, gently pushing against the maternity dress, but it wasn’t particularly prominent.

For most Beastman races, pregnancy wasn’t very obvious.

The Beastman from the Elephant Clan looked a little dejected, but Pamir was ecstatic. Even though Duoji had taken a new Fifth Rank mate, this first child was his!

Sang Luo could tell at a glance whose cub it was and smiled sincerely. Duoji and Pamir were from the Flower Leopard Clan, so their gestation period wouldn’t be very long.

"Thankfully, the Beast Tide didn’t affect us. The Beast God be praised."

Pamir had high Fertility, which was why Duoji had conceived a litter so quickly. Li Man and the others, who only had average Fertility, were incredibly envious. They had been holed up in their caves with their mates for the past few days and hadn’t come out much.

Childbirth was a major event for females. As the due date approached, there were constant risks. For the next half a month, Duoji had to live in the tribe’s special delivery room for expectant mothers. That way, if anything happened, the witch doctor could be there immediately.

Duoji didn’t have many mates, and they were all core members of the Hunting Team. Since they had to rotate their duties, there were times they couldn’t be with her. Therefore, a tribe Elder had assigned several other Beastmen to attend to her.

"How have you been so clumsy lately? You can’t even handle a simple task like this! What if you accidentally hurt the mother-to-be?"

A Fox Monkey Beastman had accidentally knocked over a basin of water, and the Rabbit Beast Witch Doctor, Douya, was pointing a finger at him and scolding him.

"My hand was injured during the Beast Tide a few days ago. It hasn’t healed yet..." the Fox Monkey Beastman said, his head bowed.

Sang Luo, who was sitting by the bed pouring Duoji a cup of tea, found her attention drawn to the commotion. Her eyes landed on the Fox Monkey Beastman being berated, and she frowned slightly.
