Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 332 - 271: Slowly Changing
Minos almost forgot to breathe. "You..."
Sang Luo took his hand. Her almond eyes blinked playfully, her curled lashes fluttering like a butterfly’s wings. "Next time you want to give me something, just give it to me yourself. I won’t refuse, and I’ll be very happy."
She liked heartfelt gifts given in person, not some lofty reward bestowed from on high.
Minos looked down, dazed, at their joined hands, then gazed deeply into her eyes. A strange warmth spread through his heart.
The feeling was completely foreign to him, yet he couldn’t help but crave it.
’I want to hold on tight and never let go.’
A necklace with a golden-winged totem appeared in Minos’s palm. He said, a bit woodenly, "This... is what I wanted to give you."
"Mhm, it’s beautiful. Put it on for me yourself," Sang Luo said, her eyes curving into a smile as she invited him.
Minos’s heart couldn’t help but race, not with a trace of lust, but with pure, unadulterated joy—a secret delight.
Minos’s gaze fell on Sang Luo’s slender, snow-white neck. He reached out and gently brushed aside her long, silky black hair. It felt so good in his hand that he couldn’t resist stroking it a couple more times before fastening the necklace around her neck.
The moment he let go, Sang Luo stood on her tiptoes and gave him a fleeting, butterfly-light kiss on the lips.
"Thank you, Minos. I love the gift."
Caught off guard by her sudden, sweet kiss, a faint blush rose to Minos’s face.
Sang Luo clasped her hands behind her back, her eyes narrowing in an even wider smile. "See? This is also a way of saying thank you, but I’ve never done *this* for Ilodi!"
Minos snapped back to reality, the corner of his lip twitching into a slight smile. "Mm, he won’t have to be exiled to the frontier, then."
"What? Hmph!"
Just as Sang Luo was about to complain about this hopelessly unromantic guy, Minos pulled her into his arms, lowered his head, and pressed his lips to hers, deepening the kiss...
A few days later, Sang Luo was in a grove of wisteria and trees outside the palace. The sun was a bit strong, so she sat on a gently swaying swing in the shade, eating an ice cream croissant, when she ran into Ilodi again.
"Greetings, Holy Consort." Ilodi said regretfully, "The Holy Hall rejected my application."
’Sigh, I knew it!’
’I don’t even have to think to know who did it.’
’Rejecting the transfer is a small matter. If he were really exiled to the border and lost his life, that would be a big deal!’
Sang Luo felt a little guilty for almost dragging him down with her. She offered him the buttered bread in her hand. "Come rest for a bit... Don’t overthink it. Just do your job well. You don’t need to worry about me; I’m doing fine over here."
"But I would still like to be transferred here," Ilodi sighed.
Minos walked over.
Ilodi quickly and respectfully said, "Greetings, Saint Son."
Minos looked at Sang Luo. "You want him to come back?"
Sang Luo thought for a moment and nodded honestly. "Ilodi is patient and meticulous in his work. He helped me a lot recently, and he’s better than the current guards at the palace."
The bedchambers of the Saint Heir and Holy Consort required guards for protection. Minos had since rescinded the order for guards, so Sang Luo could freely enter and exit the palace, and could even leave the Holy Palace, but only if he accompanied her.
It wasn’t that he was afraid she would run away. The two had signed a contract, and Sang Luo no longer intended to escape. She would stay in the Holy Hall to "cultivate their relationship" with Minos. However, she had also laid down three conditions with him: after some time, she needed to return to the Beast World Continent to see her Beast Husbands and children. She had her own things to do and couldn’t just revolve her life around him alone.
Minos had initially disagreed, but he didn’t want their relationship, which had just started to thaw, to revert to how it was before. After two days of deliberation, they each took a step back.
Minos wouldn’t restrict Sang Luo from returning to the Beast World Continent, but until she fulfilled the contract, she had to spend most of her time in the Holy Hall with him.
This was acceptable to Sang Luo. After all, her main mission now was to win over Minos, and she was happy to spend more thought and time on him... ’Sigh, my pregnancy with Fei Yuan’s child has already lasted four or five years. If I were to truly conceive a child of the Angel Clan, it probably wouldn’t be a short time either. I can’t possibly stay in the Holy Hall for four or five years without ever going back. What if my Beast Husbands think I’m dead? Especially that restless one... Fei Yuan has probably already started looking for his next spring romance. I can’t give him that chance!’
Minos looked at the somewhat reserved and uneasy Ilodi.
He knew Sang Luo wasn’t interested in Ilodi, so he didn’t feel any hostility. A Mixed Blood Angel like him wasn’t enough to give Minos any sense of urgency, but the same couldn’t be said for the other party.
As a fellow male, Minos could discern the faint, hidden feelings Ilodi harbored.
"Throughout all of history, there has only ever been one Holy Queen..." Minos closed his eyes, his voice tinged with reluctance. "Only one Angel Clan partner, and it will only be the strongest Male Beast of the Angel Clan."
Ilodi instantly understood his meaning and lowered his head in shame, not expecting his hidden feelings to be perceived so quickly.
He was aware of his own status and had never harbored any improper desires.
He simply enjoyed being with the Holy Consort. The Holy Consort treated people with gentleness and warmth, and he admired her greatly. Just being able to see her from afar was enough to make him happy.
"I know. I understand."
Minos nodded. "Luoluo is willing to have you serve her, so you may come back."
Ilodi was overjoyed. "Yes! Thank you, Your Highness! I will be sure to fulfill my duties and protect the Holy Consort’s safety!"
Sang Luo was also a little surprised that Minos had relented just for her. He surely cared about such matters to some extent, but since it was what she wanted, he wouldn’t go against her wishes on such a small thing.
’The Saint Son... is slowly changing!’
Sang Luo smiled at Ilodi. "The Saint Son has given his permission, so you should hurry back and pack. You can move over in a few days. By the way, where was Habier transferred? He might be a bit cold, but he’s a warm-hearted person underneath. If he’s willing, have him come back too."
"Yes, Holy Consort! I... I’ll go back and pack right away and let him know. He’s in another guard unit, but we’re part of the same detachment." Ilodi was so excited he was tripping over his words. After bowing, he took his leave and quickly walked away.
Sang Luo finished the last bite of her croissant and was about to jump off the swing when Minos caught her by the waist and lifted her down.
After spending a few days together, Sang Luo had grown accustomed to the warmth of the man before her. Her body no longer resisted his touch; instead, a faint sense of pleasure would arise. "Finished with your official business?"
"Mhm. The Old Saint Monarch’s health is failing. If nothing unexpected happens, I will ascend the throne next month. I’ll be a bit busier during this time, but I’ll come find you whenever I’m free." Matters of the heart didn’t require deliberate study. Although Minos had never experienced love, he was a well-adjusted Male Beast, and his body would react correctly faster than his mind could think.
It was as if an invisible thread now connected them.
As soon as Minos finished his official duties, he would instinctively return to look for Sang Luo.
He loved being with her.
It was relaxing, pleasant.
A Male Beast spends his entire life seeking a partner and children to start a new family, and she could fill that emotional void for him. He couldn’t help but want to be by her side.
"It’s time for lunch. You haven’t eaten yet, have you? The Servants should have the meal ready by now. Let’s go back!" Sang Luo proactively took his hand.
It was such a small gesture, yet Minos felt an indescribable sense of contentment. He turned his hand to grasp her soft, small one, and instead of teleporting, he led her on a slow walk back to the palace.
