Future Beast World: Becoming A Pampered Beauty-Chapter 245 - 189: Psycho
Sang Luo dodged his hand and planted a playful kiss on his rosy lips. "Am I real or fake?"
"Fake!"
"Hahaha." Sang Luo fell into his arms with a muffled laugh. The atmosphere eased a bit, and Si Ye, still shaken, held her tight. "It wasn’t easy for me to get to spend this time with you. I can’t let anything happen to you."
He lowered his voice. "Yu Cang is at the Initial Emperor Realm. I’m seventy percent confident I can take him down. If not, I’ll sneak into the Sky Tiger Clan tonight..."
"Fei Yuan said Yu Cang is an expert at escaping. Let’s not tip him off just yet. We need to be cautious." Sang Luo shook her head. "He also mentioned that refining a Blood Demon Puppet requires a Blood Demon Vajra Pestle. We don’t know if Yu Cang carries it with him or has it hidden somewhere. We have to find and destroy it to eliminate the threat for good."
"And you’re not even worried about yourself." A murderous aura raged from Si Ye. "He dares to target you? I’ll let him have the gall to think it, but not the life to see it through!"
"Yu Cang won’t make a move on me anytime soon. After ’coincidentally’ running into you in the city, he’s been trying to divert our attention." Sang Luo’s smile was chilly. "He wants me, but he’s more afraid of you. That’s why he pulled a ’shedding the golden cicada’s shell,’ trying to lure us away with a fake Yu Cang so he can carry out his plan in peace."
’She had considered using herself as bait, but the enemy was too cunning. They had to take the initiative and lure the snake from its hole.’
「The next day.」
Si Ye found an opportunity to meet with Yu Ze.
「A private room in a restaurant.」
Yu Cang sat across from them and poured himself a glass of wine. His disguise was perfect; his every move was identical to Yu Ze’s. Not even the old Clan Leader of the Sky Tiger Clan or those around him had noticed anything amiss.
"Are you saying that the real Yu Cang didn’t die, and he’s disguised as someone else, hiding in the city?"
Si Ye nodded. "Yes. I need you to team up with me one more time. This time, we’ll set the trap in advance and catch him like a turtle in a jar."
Yu Ze drained his cup of wine, looking troubled. "It seems we’ll have to find this scoundrel as soon as possible. My wedding with Yue’er is next month. I can’t let something like this ruin it."
Just as he spoke, a knock came from the door. "Yu Ze—"
Yu Ze put down his wine cup. "We’re getting married soon, and this little female has been so clingy lately. I have to watch her every day, afraid I’ll go philandering." He called out to the door, "Yue’er, come in."
Hao Yue beamed the moment she entered and saw Si Ye and Sang Luo.
"You two haven’t left yet? Perfect! Stay in the city a few more days and attend my wedding with Yu Ze."
Ever since they last parted, Hao Yue had given up on Si Ye. She knew she wasn’t worthy of an Emperor Beast; she didn’t even dare to fantasize about it anymore. Her attitude toward Sang Luo, however, had improved considerably. A female with high Fertility and powerful talents was an asset any clan would want to win over. Even if they couldn’t become friends, they absolutely could not become enemies.
Hao Yue didn’t dislike Yu Ze. He had always been genuinely good to her growing up. She just hadn’t liked the arranged marriage that tied her down. After thinking it over seriously these past few days, she realized the alliance would be a great benefit to both their clans, and having let go of her reservations, she calmly accepted it.
Yu Ze pulled her into his arms in an intimate gesture. "Si Ye and I have to go out again. This guy has a beauty by his side, unlike me, all alone. Yue’er, do you want to come with me too?"
Hao Yue, wanting to work on their relationship, naturally agreed with a smile.
Sang Luo hesitated. "Hao Yue is only a Seventh Rank Beastman. I’m afraid..."
"What, as a fellow female, is the noble female Sang Luo looking down on my Yue’er?" Yu Ze cut in.
Hao Yue added with a playful pout, "Luoluo, don’t worry. I’m not good at fighting, but don’t you think I know how to hide and save my own skin? Besides, with you by my side, it’ll be just like last time. You burned that whole pack of Demon Beasts with a single blaze. You’re so powerful!"
Yu Ze was delighted. "Then it’s settled!"
Si Ye looked at Sang Luo.
"Then let the noble female Hao Yue stay with me." Sang Luo said no more, but her heart sank. ’This Yu Cang really is a nasty piece of work. He must have sensed something. In his hands, Hao Yue has become a disposable hostage he can throw out to take a blow for him, just to protect himself.’
’Rather than worry about what tricks he might pull in secret, it’s better to keep Hao Yue by my side where I can watch her.’
When they reached the forest where Demon Beasts roamed, Yu Cang released another imposter, and a fierce battle ensued.
Sang Luo gave Si Ye a look, signaling him to pursue the fleeing Demon Beast Man.
Yu Ze walked over. "There might be other Demon Beasts nearby. Si Ye can go catch him. I’ll stay here and protect you two."
"Ah Ye is working himself to death out there, and you’re not ashamed to be relaxing here with us two females? Get going and help him!" Hao Yue scolded with a laugh.
Yu Ze rubbed his neck. "Alright, I get it."
He left too.
Before leaving, he set up a protective barrier for the two of them, putting on a complete show.
Sang Luo gathered some resinous firewood nearby and used her Phoenix True Fire to light a bonfire, driving away any Demon Beasts lurking in the shadows.
Before long, Hao Yue got hungry, so Sang Luo took a good amount of dried meat and fruit out of her spatial storage for her to eat.
More than half a day passed, and Yu Ze and Si Ye still hadn’t returned. Growing frightened as the sky darkened, Hao Yue tugged on Sang Luo’s sleeve. "Why don’t we head back first?"
"Let’s wait a little longer," Sang Luo said, poking the bonfire.
Hao Yue had no choice but to sit and continue waiting. She yawned, overwhelmingly sleepy, and shifted into her beast form before curling up on the ground and falling asleep.
Sang Luo watched for a moment, then took a small bedding set from her spatial storage, spread it on the ground, placed the little purple sable on the mattress, and covered it with the small quilt.
The little purple sable’s body stiffened for a second. Its eyes cracked open for a moment before closing again. Its tail gave a light flick, and it went back to sleep as if nothing had happened.
The night grew deep and the dew was heavy. Sang Luo leaned against a tree, still wide awake. She looked up at the murky sky, feeling as if countless eyes were spying on her from the dark. [Ah Ye, has Yu Cang tried anything else?]
[He made an excuse and ran off midway.]
[Mm, I figured. He’s coming for me.]
[Luoluo, be careful. I’m always right behind you.]
Hao Yue woke up at one point and shifted back to her human form. Clutching her stomach, she looked troubled. "Luoluo, can you come with me for a bit? It’s so dark outside, I’m a little scared..."
Sang Luo looked at her for a long moment, then nodded, stood up, and tossed another handful of firewood onto the bonfire before following her into the small woods.
A hand chopped down on the back of her neck. Sang Luo’s vision went black, and she lost consciousness.
...
When she woke up again, she was in a dark cave. Her hands and feet were bound with ropes, and she was lying on a sacrificial altar. Hao Yue lay unconscious on the ground not far away.
The air was filled with the putrid stench of blood.
’This must be Yu Cang’s lair.’
Footsteps approached, and a cold hand suddenly seized her chin, forcing it up. Sang Luo found herself looking at Yu Ze’s handsome, wicked face.
He was no longer pretending.
He was like a completely different person from when they first met.
"I originally didn’t want to alert the enemy and was going to let you be for a while. But I never expected you to deliver yourself right to my doorstep. How could I possibly pass up such a golden opportunity?"
Sang Luo calmly spoke his name. "Yu Cang. You deserve to die."
"Yu Ze" looked at her in astonishment. Then, as if seized by a sudden fit, he threw Sang Luo down onto the altar. The hard, sharp stone cut into her skin, and her face went pale with pain and sweat. She wanted to curse him out loud. But the man before her clutched his stomach and burst into a maniacal laugh. "HAHAHAHAHA, as expected of the female I’ve set my sights on! You really are clever!"
His laughter gradually subsided. He straightened up, his expression turning grim as he stared at her. "When did you figure me out? When you and that kid pretended to lure me out, you’d already guessed my identity, hadn’t you?"
