Chapter 129: Chapter 76: First Arrival at the North Continent (Part 2)

As her cultivation level rose, Sang Luo’s physical prowess and reflexes had become incredibly sharp. The instant the Ice Giant Worm burst from the ground, she vaulted dozens of meters away to safety. From a distance, she watched the creature—a writhing mass of hundreds of legs and scales, baring its fangs—and felt a surge of revulsion. ’I was almost swallowed whole.’

"Ready yourselves! Attack!"

At the Tiger Beast’s command, the Beastmen instantly shifted into their beast forms and shot forward like arrows loosed from a bow.

The Ice Giant Worm’s body was covered in hard scales. An ordinary Beastman’s teeth and claws were no match for them; several Beastmen tore at it frantically but could only manage to rip off a few scales.

The giant worm opened its massive maw, filled with hundreds of sharp teeth, and snapped at one of the Beastman’s heads.

The Beastmen in the team had clearly done their homework. One of them immediately used a chain made of some unknown metal to bind the worm’s head, tying it to a massive tree several arm spans thick. This kept its head from twisting around to attack.

Not to be outdone, the giant worm thrashed its body, ramming the tree and sending several Beastmen flying.

For those it couldn’t shake off, the giant worm coiled its massive body around them.

The immense pressure was nearly enough to crush their bodies to a pulp!

As the worm’s struggles intensified, the chain began to strain, and the ancient tree teetered on the verge of collapse, showering down snow.

The Tiger Beast, the largest and strongest among them, lunged forward and bit down hard on a lighter-colored patch between the worm’s head and abdomen—its obvious weak spot.

Unfortunately, his fangs failed to pierce the worm’s scales, only enraging it further. It thrashed wildly, its scales flaring out like sharp blades. As its tail slammed down, dozens of gashes were torn across the Tiger Beast’s body, and blood gushed from the wounds.

BOOM!

The Ice Giant Worm completely broke free of its chains. The massive, dozens-of-meters-tall ancient tree was instantly uprooted, collapsing to the ground and sending up a blizzard of snow.

The giant worm then opened its cavernous maw and lunged at the group of Beastmen, ready to devour them.

An icicle, coalescing from pure, freezing energy, suddenly materialized in the air. SWISH! It pierced straight through the giant worm’s torso.

The creature’s tough, protective scales were instantly penetrated by the seemingly ordinary icicle, creating a sonic boom that cracked through the air.

The giant worm collapsed to the ground with a thunderous crash, its pale red blood staining the white snow.

Someone quickly came to their senses and scrambled over to inspect the Insect Beast’s corpse. "It’s... it’s dead!"

The Tiger Beast, like the others, turned to see where the attack had come from. He was stunned to see it was the frail-looking Male Beast who had killed it.

’So strong!’

’This is a Seventh Rank Star Beast!’

’And he killed it in a single strike!’

’There’s no way he’s merely Sixth Rank. He has to be at least a Seventh Rank, same as the beast!’

The group wasn’t stupid. Once the shock wore off, their expressions turned far more respectful.

The Beastmen who came to live on the North Continent were either natives or outlaws who had caused trouble on other continents and had nowhere else to go. They came to this desolate place to survive against all odds.

’This person must have an extraordinary background. He probably just said he was Sixth Rank because he doesn’t want to reveal his true identity.’

The Beastmen in the Bounty Team all understood the unwritten rules. No one asked any questions. As if nothing had happened, they simply lowered their heads and continued on their way.

However, their attitude toward Sang Luo had improved significantly along the journey, now tinged with a hint of deference.

Sang Luo traveled with them for several days, during which they killed seven or eight more of these Ice Giant Worms.

Sang Luo noticed that after they killed the worms, they simply put the entire corpses into their spatial storage without processing them. "The meat of a High Rank Star Beast is a delicacy, rich in Spiritual Power," she said. "If you butcher it, you can sell the meat to restaurants. This Star Beast’s scales are also incredibly sharp and hard, rivaling Profound Iron. You could sell them to weapon and material smiths... If you take the time to process them and sell the parts, you’ll earn a much larger reward."

A Bear Beast replied gruffly, "No need for all that trouble! We don’t hunt these giant worms to sell their parts. We turn the whole thing in to the city for the bounty."

"Yeah, the bounty is paid for the entire worm. A single one is worth over ten thousand Beast Crystals!"

"Then which city are you heading to next?"

"Ice-breaking City."

Sang Luo nodded. "I’ll go with you."

’It’s a good chance to find a place to rest.’

’There are so few Beastmen on the North Continent. Besides this Bounty Team, I haven’t seen anyone else on my journey. There should be far more people in the cities, which will make it easier to gather information.’
