Chapter 14: Chapter 14: A Choice! A Contract! And A Ghost From The Past

Jonny had barely processed everything that happened with Lustina when a knock on his door interrupted his thoughts. He looked up just as the director walked in, accompanied by a woman who could only be described as stunning. She was tall, with long dark hair flowing down her back, dressed in a sleek professional suit that somehow managed to be both elegant and seductive.

The director clapped his hands together. "Jonny, meet your new personal assistant, Vanessa."

Vanessa stepped forward, extending her hand. "It's a pleasure to work with you, Mr. Jonny."

Jonny took her hand, surprised by how firm her grip was. "Just Jonny is fine," he said, giving her a quick once-over. She wasn't just beautiful—there was something sharp in her eyes, something calculating.

"Vanessa will be handling your schedule, appointments, and, well, making sure you stay on track," the director continued. "Speaking of which, today is the day you decide between AQA and AQAA. No more stalling."

Jonny exhaled and nodded. "Yeah, I've thought about it. Let's head over to AQA. I've made my choice."

A limo was already waiting for them outside. Vanessa slid in first, and Jonny followed, the director taking a seat across from them. The ride was smooth, but Jonny couldn't shake the feeling that Vanessa was studying him.

"You're surprisingly calm for someone about to sign a deal that could change his life," Vanessa remarked, crossing her legs.

Jonny smirked. "I've had a lot of 'life-changing' experiences lately. One more won't make a difference."

She chuckled. "I like your attitude. Let's see if you still have it when the real challenges begin."

They arrived at AQA's headquarters, a towering glass building that screamed wealth and power. Inside, they were greeted by a team of executives, all eager to secure Jonny's signature.

The meeting room was luxurious, with a massive screen displaying highlights of AQA's top stars. The company's CEO, a tall man with silver hair and piercing blue eyes, stood up to shake Jonny's hand.

"Jonny, we're thrilled to have you here. We believe you're the future of this industry."

Jonny nodded, taking his seat. "I appreciate the confidence. I've decided—I want to work with AQA."

The executives exchanged pleased looks. One of them slid a thick contract across the table. "Then all that's left is your signature."

Jonny grabbed the pen, but before he could sign, Lustina's voice rang in his head.

[Wait. Read through it carefully.]

Jonny hesitated. "It's just a standard contract, right?"

[Jonny, contracts in this world aren't like back on Earth. There could be hidden clauses—]

"Too much stress," he muttered under his breath, shaking off the warning. He quickly scribbled his signature across the dotted line, ignoring the slight buzzing sensation in his head.

The executives clapped, champagne was poured, and Jonny found himself celebrating before he even had time to process what he had just signed.

After a few drinks, he finally excused himself. Vanessa followed him out, making sure he got to the car safely.

"Good choice," she said as he slid into the backseat.

Jonny leaned his head against the seat, feeling the alcohol warm his body. "Yeah, we'll see."

The car pulled away from the building, cruising through the neon-lit streets. But then, something outside caught Jonny's eye.

A woman.

She was walking alone, her figure illuminated by the glow of a streetlamp. Jonny's breath caught in his throat.

It couldn't be.

"Stop the car," he said suddenly.

The driver hesitated. "Sir?"

"Stop. Now."

The car jerked to a halt. Jonny stepped out, his heart pounding. He walked toward the woman, barely believing what he was seeing.

She looked exactly like her.

"Amie?" he whispered.

The woman stiffened at the sound of her name.

Jonny reached out, touching her shoulder lightly.

She spun around, her eyes wide with shock. She stepped back, removing his hand from her body. "Excuse me?"

Jonny felt his throat tighten. "Amie... don't you remember me?"

Her brow furrowed. "Who the hell are you? And how do you know my name?"

Jonny opened his mouth, but no words came out.

It didn't make sense. She was his high school crush. He had mourned her death. She had died years ago.

But here she was, standing in front of him, looking very much alive.

She took a step back, suspicion in her eyes. Then, recognition dawned.

"Wait... I know you!" she said suddenly. "You're that new star. The one everyone's talking about. The one who came out of nowhere and is taking over the media!"

Jonny felt his stomach twist.

She didn't recognize him as Jonny from high school. Only as Jonny the rising star.

"She doesn't remember me," he thought. "Is it really her? Should I just play along?"

He forced a smile. "Yeah, that's me. I guess news travels fast around here."

Amie smirked. "Oh, you have no idea. But seriously, how do you know my name?"

Before Jonny could answer, the sound of screeching tires filled the air.

A black RV skidded to a stop beside them.

The doors burst open, and masked men jumped out.

Jonny barely had time to react before something sharp jabbed into his neck. A needle.

His vision blurred. His limbs went weak.

He saw Amie struggling, her screams muffled as one of the men grabbed her.
