Chapter 32

“Ouch!”

In the second row, a recruit suddenly took two steps forward. However, it wasn’t because he was trying to run, but because someone was pushing him from behind.

“Come back and stand properly!” Squad Leader Li sternly commanded from behind.

After the recruit returned to his proper position, Squad Leader Li continued to speak loudly.

“I told you to stand in military posture, not just to stand there. Soldiers should stand like pine trees and sit like bells.”

There was a specific way to stand, with three points of straightness and three points of looseness as the external performance requirements. However, internally, a soldier needed to stand firm.

“Look at you now. Just a casual touch and you’re out of shape. What kind of military posture is this?” Squad Leader Li exclaimed. “Use some strength and stabilize yourselves!”

As he spoke, he let out another “Damn” and suddenly pushed another recruit beside him.

“No, it seems that if I don’t give you some methods, you won’t be able to meet my requirements!” he added.

Squad Leader Li’s expression became serious as he marched to the front of the line. “Turn left,” he commanded and led the team to the east side of the basketball court where there were stairs.

The three classes were then divided into three rows. However, this time, they stood in military posture while on the stairs, with half of the soles of their feet suspended in the air.

“Stand properly. If anyone moves, you’ll do a hundred push-ups the first time and a hundred squats the second time. Take turns so that you can practice both your upper and lower body,” Squad Leader Li commanded.

The recruits were likely cursing in their hearts. Initially, when he approached, they were still chatting and laughing with Wang Ye. After the training ended, he was also very gentle. He was not like the other class monitors who would swear at every turn and thought he was easy to talk to. But now, everyone realized that there were no good-natured veterans in the army!

“Skill transformation successful…” Another message appeared in Wang Ye’s mind. However, he continued to stand in military posture and focused on maintaining his form.

He glanced at his attribute list:

[Host: Wang Ye.]

[Strength: 0.9]

[Speed: 1]

[Stamina: 0.9]

[Vision: 0.9]

[Memory: 1.3]

[Reaction:1.1]

[Skills: Duplication Duvet LV2 (8/20), Light 3km Off-Road LV1 (5/10), Push-ups LV1 (4/10), Halting Spinning LV1 (0/10), Military Postures LV1 (0/10)]

[Skill Points: 1]

To be honest, Wang Ye was tempted to use the skill points right away. However, he knew that he had to level up all the other skills to level 2 first. After experiencing the benefits of the first level up, he could then decide which skills to prioritize for the remaining skill points.

Wang Ye couldn’t afford to stay stagnant for too long. He still had to compete for the position of vice-class monitor. If he didn’t distinguish himself as soon as possible, how could he make a name for himself? Moreover, with this, he would have two more skill points to allocate after becoming the vice class monitor. It was definitely worth the effort.

“Bang!”

“Ouch!”

As a few of them tried to maintain military posture on the stairs, they fell down. Fortunately, the stairs weren’t very high and the person who fell first was cushioned by the others below. Although the lower part was affected, no one was injured.

“What are you doing? Why are you standing there?” Squad Leader Li’s voice rang out, sounding like the voice of the devil to those who had fallen.

Of course, the situation wasn’t any better for the others. They perked up and became wary of the person in front of them. They were afraid that if the person in front couldn’t hold on and fell, they would be implicated. However, based on their current position, if the person in front fell, the person behind them wouldn’t be able to escape either.

Dodging at the first moment was the only way to avoid being implicated. However, if they dodged in military posture, they would inevitably have to go into overtime. The army was not a place for reasoning, and punishment could not be avoided just because someone in front of them had fallen.

Time passed by, and they continued to train by standing in military posture and halting turns. Around ten o’clock, the sun began to rise, and the temperature gradually increased. Despite being in December, they were in the south where it was still relatively warm.

Sweat seeped out from under the brim of his hat, gathering on his eyebrows, ears, and above his eyes. It was a sign of the intense training.

“Rest for twenty minutes. If you need to use the toilet or drink water, you can go back to the dormitory. Be back in twenty minutes!” Squad Leader Li’s voice sounded like music to everyone’s ears. Many of them sat down on the spot, relieved to finally have a break.

Wang Ye was no exception. However, after resting for a while, he quickly ran back to the dormitory with the rest of the team. He knew he had to cherish his time during the break.

On the way back, Wang Ye had a thought and looked at his attribute page.

Wang Ye checked his attribute page and noticed that his basic attributes remained unchanged. His Halting Rotation Technique skill experience had increased to (9/10). This skill had been trained repeatedly by Squad Leader Li, and Wang Ye had also researched it extensively.

The experience gained for the Halting Rotation Technique was one point for every completion of the task, which enabled Wang Ye to gain nine experience points in a short amount of time.

On the other hand, the Military Posture skill, which took at least half an hour to practice each time, had only been used twice. As a result, he only had two experience points in that skill. His progress in this skill was slow compared to the Halting Rotation Technique.

“Hey, Deng Hai, hold on a moment. Can I practice the Halting Rotation Technique instead? I have a new idea!” Wang Ye suddenly called out to Deng Hai.

Deng Hai was surprised by Wang Ye’s sudden request. What was going on? Did he not have enough skill experience points? Deng Hai couldn’t understand what Wang Ye was thinking.

Zhang Ping’an, on the other hand, was excited to hear Wang Ye’s idea. “Wang Ye, have you found any tricks?” he asked eagerly. During the halting rotation technique, he struggled with his reaction time, and he was curious if Wang Ye had any tips to share.

“Stop asking and just give the order!” Wang Ye replied. In truth, he didn’t have any particular reason for wanting to switch skills. He just felt a little obsessive-compulsive when he saw that his experience value was at nine and wanted to level up as soon as possible.

“Alright then!” Deng Hai didn’t waste any time. He cleared his throat, stood up straight, and mimicked the class monitor’s order. “Comrade Wang Ye, attention!”

Wang Ye didn’t care about the tone of Deng Hai’s voice, nor did he care about the other recruits’ gazes. He stood at attention, ready to complete the task.

The movement requirements for the Halting Rotation Technique were actually very simple. Before the exercise began, Ye Sanshi had mentioned the key points and requirements. One needed to be fast, accurate, and steady.

To put it simply, one had to turn quickly and rely on their feet to turn quickly. The direction of the turn had to be accurate, and the position of the feet had to be precise. When turning and relying on the feet, the body had to be stable and maintain an upright posture with the upper body looking forward.

These key points were not difficult, and Wang Ye was able to execute all of them.

Upon Deng Hai’s order, Wang Ye executed the Halting Rotation Technique. He completed a set of five movements, turning left (right), turning back, and then turning left (right) halfway. As a result, he gained another experience point, and his skill level increased to level two.

A familiar sensation washed over him as some of his experience with the Halting Rotation Technique entered his mind. Simultaneously, a warm feeling flashed across his consciousness.

Excitedly, Wang Ye quickly checked his attribute list to see if any changes had occurred.
