From Ignored to Adored: The Heiress Melts the Self-Restrained Boss-Chapter 171: I’m Here to See Riley
York Family Villa.
"President Everett said, you have one day to move out of this house." Silas Everett’s assistant, Kerry, arrived at the York residence to inform Yvonne York and her family to move immediately.
"Why? This is my home, why do you have the right to make us leave?" Mrs. York exclaimed in anger.
Yvonne York and Mr. York remained silent. Kerry couldn’t help but let out a cold laugh, "Mrs. York, don’t you know? Your York Family is bankrupt. It’s our Everett Group that acquired your York, so this villa now belongs to President Everett. Therefore, President Everett asks you to move out immediately."
Mrs. York trembled with anger but was helpless. Yvonne York bit her lip, her eyes full of defiance. Mr. York sighed deeply and remained silent.
"We won’t just leave that easily!" Yvonne York suddenly shouted, "Even if Everett Group has acquired York, they can’t force us out so tyrannically."
Kerry looked at them expressionlessly, "Miss York, I’m just following orders. If you don’t cooperate, President Everett has ways to make you leave."
With that, he turned and prepared to leave.
"Wait!" Mr. York finally spoke, "We can move out, but please give us some time to pack our things."
Kerry stopped, nodded slightly, "Fine, I will report to President Everett and give you two days." Then he left the York family villa.
Mrs. York couldn’t help crying, "What should we do? Where will we go from now on?"
Yvonne York held her mother’s hand tightly and comforted, "Mom, don’t worry, we will get through this tough time."
Hearing this, Mrs. York sat on the sofa, wiping her tears away.
"This family is completely done for, your sister was arrested, the company is gone, and now the house is gone too."
Yvonne York sighed, "Luckily, after paying off the debts with the money from selling the company, there’s still some money left, it should be enough for our family to live on for a while."
As she spoke, Yvonne York looked earnestly at Mr. and Mrs. York, "Dad, Mom, I will try hard to find a job and support this family."
"It’s all your fault!" Mr. York couldn’t help but blame Yvonne once he thought of their company going bankrupt because his daughter offended Hawthorne Group, which also led to his younger daughter being arrested.
He stood up and slapped her face in anger, "It’s all because of you, you troublesome girl. Why couldn’t you fall for someone else? Instead, you had to provoke Caden Hawthorne. Now your sister’s arrested, the company is gone, and the house is confiscated, it’s all your doing, you’ve ruined the entire York family."
Yvonne York held her smacked face, tears of grievance welling up in her eyes, "Dad, it wasn’t my intention either!"
"If I had known, your mom and I wouldn’t have given birth to you! You’re such a burden!" Mr. York shouted, pointing at her, "Are you deliberately trying to piss me off?"
Seeing her husband scolding her daughter, Mrs. York hurriedly comforted, "Honey, what are you doing? Yvonne didn’t do it on purpose."
"I think she did it on purpose!" Mr. York put his hands on his hips in anger, "Look at this, is this the good daughter you’ve raised? All she does is cause trouble and has now cost our entire family fortune. How are we supposed to live now?"
Yvonne York’s tears finally couldn’t be held back, she sobbed, "Dad, I know I was wrong, I will find a way to make up for it." Mr. York’s anger was not assuaged, he gave her a fierce glare and stormed into the room, slamming the door shut.
Mrs. York hugged Yvonne tenderly, gently patting her back, "Yvonne, don’t be sad, your dad is just saying things out of anger. As long as our family works together, we can overcome this hardship."
Yvonne York leaned into her mother’s embrace and nodded silently.
In the following two days, Yvonne York packed up, moved her family out of the villa, crowded into a rental apartment, and simultaneously applied for jobs everywhere.
She set aside her former pride and dignity, just to find a stable source of income as soon as possible to support this shaky family.
However, reality dealt her a harsh blow.
Due to the news of the York Family’s bankruptcy spreading, and Yara York’s arrest, many companies avoided her, fearing being associated with the Yorks and getting into trouble.
Zachary Sutton, to verify if the woman who took him home from the bar that night was Rosalyn Quinn, asked his friends to identify her by sending out her photo.
His friends told him it wasn’t Rosalyn Quinn.
He then sent a photo of Riley Hawthorne.
Then he knew, the woman who took him home that night was really Riley Hawthorne.
So, that night he wasn’t hallucinating.
Upon learning this, Zachary Sutton felt a trace of joy and relief in his heart, he even went to the bar to confirm it again and got a positive answer.
Combined with Caden Hawthorne’s angry call, all indications further confirmed that it was Riley Hawthorne who took him home that night.
Since that’s the case, why did Rosalyn Quinn appear at his home? And why did she lie to him, claiming she was the one who took him home?
There was something Zachary Sutton felt he needed to meet with Riley Hawthorne to talk face-to-face, to clarify just who the person he was involved with was, Riley Hawthorne or Rosalyn Quinn.
So, Zachary Sutton called Riley Hawthorne.
He found out she had already blocked him, his calls couldn’t go through.
Thus, Zachary Sutton could only message her on WeChat to arrange a meeting.
He discovered she had blocked him there as well.
Zachary Sutton frowned, "Why did Riley block me, did she misunderstand something?"
Thinking of Caden Hawthorne’s accusatory tone on the phone, Zachary Sutton became increasingly agitated.
"Could Rosalyn Quinn have said something she shouldn’t have to Riley while I was drunk?"
Realizing this, Zachary Sutton could no longer stay calm and decided to go to Hartswell Manor himself, to explain in person and seek clarification.
So, Zachary Sutton grabbed his car keys, picked up his coat, and hurried out.
Zachary Sutton drove swiftly and soon arrived at Hartswell Manor. Standing at the manor’s entrance, he felt anxious and uneasy. He didn’t know how Riley Hawthorne would react upon seeing him or if he could explain the misunderstanding clearly.
He took a deep breath, gathered his courage, and rang the doorbell. After a while, a servant came to open the door. The servant showed a look of surprise upon seeing Zachary Sutton.
"Mr. Sutton, what brings you here?" the servant asked.
Zachary Sutton urgently said, "I came to see Riley, could you please inform her?"
The servant hesitated for a moment, "Mr. Sutton, Miss Hawthorne doesn’t want to see you. She instructed that if you come, you should be asked to leave."
Hearing this, Zachary Sutton became even more anxious and quickly said, "Please inform her again for me, I have something very important to explain to her."
