From Human to Skeleton: Revived with Infinite System Crystals-Chapter 578: Cold Steel
He smirked, his eyes narrowing as if trying to gauge if she was hiding something. "These packages always get there... if they pass inspection." He turned his attention back to the package, now being scanned by a series of devices that checked for any prohibited items.
JJ shifted her weight, glancing around the room as she waited. "So, how many packages have you processed today?" she asked, trying to break the silence.
The officer shrugged. "Too many to count. Sponsors are getting more desperate, and more creative. These kids out there—they don’t stand a chance without the right support." He crossed his arms, leaning back against the wall. "Though, I haven’t seen a demon survive this long in a while."
JJ frowned slightly. "Is it unusual for demons to last this long?"

The officer’s gaze darkened a bit. "They’re strong, sure. But they burn out fast. That’s why most of them don’t make it to the later stages. They don’t have the stamina to survive long-term—most are just wiped out in the first few days. The humans, on the other hand, they play the long game."
JJ’s fingers twitched slightly at his words, her mind drifting to Ty and the trials ahead. "So, Ty’s different?"
The officer shrugged again, his eyes still fixed on the conveyor as her package moved forward in the process. "Maybe. But he’s still a demon. Eventually, they all hit their limit."
Blue shifted in the pocket again, clearly agitated, and whispered, "He doesn’t know Ty. Ty’s different."
JJ patted her pocket gently to quiet her as the officer glanced back at her. "What’s that?"
"Nothing," she said quickly. "Just thinking."
The man raised an eyebrow, but didn’t press further. He watched the screen as the package finished scanning. "Well, looks like everything checks out," he said, straightening up. "No illegal items. Smoke grenades, map... compass?
Huh. A bit of an odd mix, but nothing against the rules."
JJ held her breath as the package passed through the final part of the process, making sure nothing was flagged.
"You know, these tournaments..." The officer’s voice took on a more contemplative tone. "They used to be simpler. Less... complicated. Now sponsors are packing their contestants with all sorts of tricks and gear. It’s like a chess game.
Not just a fight anymore."
JJ nodded slowly, not entirely sure how to respond. "I guess the stakes have changed."
He laughed softly. "Yeah, that’s one way to put it." He handed her a receipt for the package, the final confirmation that it had been sent. "You’re clear. The package will be delivered to the drop zone in the next hour. Better hope your demon’s ready for whatever’s coming."
JJ took the receipt, her mind already shifting to the next part of their plan. "He will be," she said confidently, turning to leave. As she walked toward the exit, Blue poked her head out of JJ’s pocket again, whispering so the guard couldn’t hear.
"Do you think Ty will figure out the message?" Blue asked, her wings twitching nervously.
JJ smiled faintly, stepping out into the hallway once more. "If anyone can, it’s Ty."
Blue settled back into the pocket, but not before giving the spider bot one more curious poke. "I hope that weird thing knows what it’s doing."
JJ sighed, giving a small, reassuring pat to her pocket. "It’s done its part. Now we just have to trust Ty." Her voice was steady, but the uncertainty still gnawed at the back of her mind. With the care package sent off, there was nothing left to do but wait and hope it reached Ty in time.
She walked down the corridor, her footsteps echoing softly in the cool metallic halls, the weight of the tournament’s stakes pressing heavily on her shoulders. As she passed the final door, she couldn’t help but glance back toward the delivery room, her thoughts still lingering on Ty, the ambush, and the game of survival they were all caught in.
Scene Break
The soft hum of mechanical whirring filled the silence as a small robot with red eyes skittered across the stone floor, its spindly legs clicking lightly against the ground. It moved with purpose, weaving around scattered debris and the remains of earlier battles, its glowing eyes casting small, ominous reflections on the darkened walls.
The air was still, the quiet of the room broken only by the faint noise of the bot as it traveled through the shadows. Experience tales at novelbuddy
The robot paused at the edge of a metal bed frame, its sensors locking onto the target above. Ty lay asleep, his body still, but even in his slumber, there was an edge to his posture—a tension that never fully relaxed. His breathing was steady, but the furrow in his brow remained.
Rosana sat on the bed nearby, her fox ears twitching slightly as she tilted her head back and forth, deep in thought. Her golden eyes were fixed on Ty, but they seemed distant, lost in a swirl of conflicting emotions.
"I kinda regret even entering this tournament," she whispered to herself, her voice low, almost as if she didn’t want anyone to hear her confession. She glanced down at her hands, her fingers tracing the edges of a small charm she kept hidden. "To think the promise to end the suffering of my people brought me here...
but meeting someone like him, someone with such a deep past..." She trailed off, her voice carrying the weight of an unspoken burden.
The small robot remained motionless, its red eyes glowing softly as it observed the scene. It beeped faintly, a small sound that broke the silence.
Rosana’s ears twitched, her head snapping toward the sound. Her eyes narrowed slightly as she caught sight of the robot, barely visible in the dim light. "What the—"
Before she could react, the spider bot jumped off the bed frame, disappearing into a small hole in the wall, vanishing into the darkness as quickly as it had appeared.
Rosana blinked, rubbing her eyes for a moment as if to convince herself she hadn’t imagined the strange sight. "Am I losing my mind?" she muttered under her breath.
Her quiet musings were interrupted as Ty stirred, slowly sitting up and stretching, his muscles tensing and relaxing as he shook off the remnants of sleep. He ran a hand through his hair, glancing over at Rosana with a curious expression. "Everything okay?"
